  1. Initial sales will be lower than they normally would for a successful game because of the advanced purchase through Kickstarter. But the 74K+ backers will surely count toward total sales.
  2. It could be interesting to have an escape mechanism wherein your party can flee through the edge of the area map, but then, if the enemy can keep up, you encounter them (with possible reinforcements) in a random wilderness encounter area. This should be relatively easy to implement, I would think.
  3. really? I recall that you could use fear or confusion which made creatures to lose control and wander around, but I don't recall a morale system in bg\bg2 and neither in PoE for that matter :/ Edit: maybe you mean "morality" i.e. the alignment system? When some enemy forces started to crumble and became outnumbered, some would break, turn their selection ring yellow, and try to flee. I thought it was a nice touch.
  4. I'd say: respectable quality (20%), solid mechanics (15%), good story/interaction (30%), nice level of variety (15%), and longer than average length (20%).
  5. I thought we were collectively over the whole 3D TV thing and 4K was the next gimmick This is a 4K 3D display, I believe.
  6. Variety is definitely a good thing to bring to the table in a CRPG. The more variety in appearance, while staying true to the general form, the better. To me, being able to distinguish male from female forms is good, as are differences in races, class roles, weapons, banners, shield types, and so forth. Again, this is all just a tempest in a tea pot. A very tiny tea pot, covering maybe a dozen pixels or less.
  7. What makes you think that one precludes the other? I'm not sure how you would distinguish between men and women's role in front-line combat; there you either learn to fight well or you die. But it might be interesting to explore the difference between men and women's soul-based abilities. Just to hypothesize wildly: suppose the role of the male is to draw forth a new (or recycled) soul out of the aether; that of the female is to hold and retain the soul while a body forms around it. Thus like a magnet and a battery: the male is able to draw off some soul energy from a source but cannot retain it; the female is able to retain the soul energy but is unable to draw it off. Now apply that to combat: a trained male can use his ability to temporarily disrupt and weaken the soul of an opponent. A trained female can latch on to that (or any other loose) soul fragment and prevent it from being recovered. By working together, they are stronger than they would be individually.
  8. This entire discussion regarding a few pixels on the display is beyond ridiculous.
  9. But at least there's no boob plate... or is there?
  10. I usually only read the combat log in BG1&2 when a character wasn't inflicting damage, so that I could figure out which one and switch weapons. It would have been nice if that were indicated visually in some manner.
  11. Unless the boobscale is more exaggerated than I think it is, not having seen the image in question, it wouldn't introduce a structural defect to the scale. Just be slightly more complicated to construct. Whereas the boobplate would have seriously impacted the structural integrity of the armor. But would it really? Or is this just another frequently repeated internet exaggeration? If what you say is true, then prove it. I'm skeptical; there's a much more dangerous weakness at the joints, which require sharply curved pieces with small joints. Some plate armor was made for nobility with significant belly bulges, which has a far greater surface area and curvature to protect. How is that any different? No, I think the word 'seriously' is well off here. At best it's 'very slightly'.
  12. To me, the spell system for Wizards in PoE seems much more self-consistent and flexible than it did in D&D. It has the feel of a D&D 3.5e Sorcerer in combination with a Wizardly interchangeable spell set. There's not really a need for separate classes. But if there were, perhaps human Sorcerers are able to use special tattoos to store the fragments of soul energy and channel attacks? That would limit the flexibility, but avoid the problem of carrying special tomes.
  13. Optional achievements that appear as trophies in your Stronghold might be appealing, especially if they had subsequent ramifications.
  14. Driving a Peterbilt 281...
  15. Dimenco no-glasses 3D TV It uses a lenticular overlay to direct the light of underlying LCD pixels in different directions, making it a glasses-free 3D technology. Nice! Now if they would just make it in a monitor size.
  16. Go play Divinity: Original Sin. It has it. Going around the various forums it seems universally hated, so it may not make the final cut... so get in while you can! I think it makes more sense for a game with one one or two controlled characters. It may not scale well, becoming tedious with six party members. That being said, I liked the idea of a very simple weapon wear implementation. But a tiny but loud minority managed to shout it down.
  17. Level scaling is clearly a solution to the problem of player characters increasing in capability much faster than they ever would in real life. It's a fake simulation for a fake progression capability that was built to feed player ego. Asking the designers to fix it is just asking them to heal a symptom, rather than the cause. My $.02 worth...
  18. The Clîaban Rilag Entrance looks to be underground and dark. So how are plants managing to grow? (Yes I see the fungi.) Magic, I guess...
  19. Playing with a single character seems much less tactically interesting. Yes it has a challenge aspect, but you lose the elements of interplay and trade-off between the different class' combat capabilities.
  20. For a higher difficulty level, they could do things like: increase enemy detection radius, reduce the number of rest locations, decrease the resale value at stores, make traps more lethal or impeding, increase the negative impact of environmental factors such as rain and nighttime, provide cover for enemy archers, damage some of the loot, and make allied NPCs less cooperative.
  21. I agree. But the female form can also be made apparent from narrower shoulders and wider hips.
  22. Mmm... no. Your assertion is far too broad. They may lose some backing, but it will depend on the circumstances. If they are forthcoming about the reason and the contributors are understanding, they may not lose very much support at all.
