Can we move this "debate" to a separate thread please? I'd like to read comments about the Class update without constantly wading through the recycled E3 complaints.

Thank you for the class details and the artwork. Just a quick question: can the Fighter's Unbroken ability be automatically triggered when Stamina reaches 0? I.e. is it set to active beforehand?

Yes we known your oft-repeated 'opinion', and I still disagree. I most definitely do not want to see spoilers before I play the game, and, as they are a commercial enterprise, I completely understand the need to manage the presentation quality for the general viewing audience. Everything seems fine and dandy from my perspective. You don't like it and we all know that. Live with it.

Incident? What incident? Did Sawyer get drunk and punch a reporter? Oh, you mean that thing where Obsidian showed PoE to a bunch of people and a small subset of backers have, for some reason, taken it as a personal insult. The next update is almost certainly final class info. Best prepare yourself to not see moving pictures for awhile. It was much to-do about practically nothing. Somebody got their knickers in a knot, apparently. The press reviews of that so-called incident did include some spoilers, and not really all that much new content although there were a couple of area views I hadn't seen before. Nothing i couldn't have lived without. than that is leaving the question of why we did not get to see the demo as well. Even Kojima actually released the whole behind the doors E3 demo to fans after E3. Because he knows the importance of video material compared to just plain text and some screens. And this game is like an year or maybe even more away from release. This 'question' has already been addressed. You know that.

Location abandonment
rjshae replied to Messier-31's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That'll be something the modding community could address, assuming Obsidian doesn't. -
Intact Soul Bigots; those with fractured souls are fuggles....

It sounds like there may only be a limited number of skills in PoE, so I'd like to see some means of refining a character's skill set. One way to do this would be to provide a set of skill specializations that provide a minor bonus. Rather than spending talents on these, the game could allow one specialization for every X skill ranks, where X is something in the range of 3 to 6. Thus, a Locksmith specialization in Mechanics could provide a +1 bonus when using the Mechanics skill to lock or unlock a door. There could be Mechanics specializations for Locksmith, Contraptions, Arcane, and Traps, for example. Epic levels could allow grand master specializations with a +2 bonus. To limit this somewhat, the specializations could be limited to preferred skills for each class. Or they could be controlled by means of rare lore books.

Sexually explicit content
rjshae replied to Sad Panda's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
A few thoughts regarding the subject: In a setting that mixes soul magic, backwards superstition, and diverse humanoid races, much unique lore may have arisen regarding sexual practices. For example, some might (falsely) believe that the godlike are the result of illicit unions with different races, or that the type of soul your child receives is dependent on your past sexual practices. The races could each have unique sexually transmitted diseases that can not be directly communicated to other races. In civilized nations, this could have come to provide a motive to engage in casual sex with a different race. Some may exploit this by recruiting (or enslaving) non-human prostitutes for brothels in human-dominated areas. Some form of sex-related soul magic may have developed, which results in unique empowerment lasting for some period of time. Strange cults may have developed around this effect, while sexual predators may be motivated to gain additional soul power. -
Sexually explicit content
rjshae replied to Sad Panda's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I tend to think that sexual themes are more interesting when the author neither avoids the subject nor deliberately seeks it out, but rather it happens as a consequence of the plot thread. Quests designed to titillate the player in a generally non-erotic tale seem juvenile to me. -
For all you know the presentation showed spoilers that some of us don't want to see yet. We will all see the product at some point; you're all getting exactly what you paid for, which is a game. The entertainment is extra, and it is basically up to the developers, and their public relations, as to what they show and to whom. Then show us some random encounter from early in the game and done. This excuse is pretty weak. And yeah I will get what I paid for but that does not mean I will support more and future projects because I really do not like how they handle this situation while so many and even much smaller studios do it so much better. This is no AAA top secret project but they are really treating it like that. Which is just sad in my opinion. Ah, rubbish. They've fed us plenty of information. I'd much rather they spend their time building a good game than wasting lots of energy trying to slake a few poster's sense of entitlement. We'll all see the same results in the end.

Unity supports C#, Java, and Python. In fact the documentation is significantly more robust in Java. I certainly hope this game doesn't have any dependencies on Java; tired of patching that oozing sore.

I believe what they are doing is raising and lowering the water level. I don't think the sand is moving, but there's some sea foam in the mix that, in combination with the wave flux, may make you think it is.

Multiple currencies
rjshae replied to Sheikh's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
A level up in sophistication would be for each settlement to have its own exchange rate for different currencies. If you want to get the most value for your currency, you'd travel to where the exchange rate is best. A simplified approach would be for each settlement to have a "preferred currency"; all others are exchanged at, say, 80% of value. -

The Two Big, Big Cities
rjshae replied to Gyges's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The cities may be big, but that doesn't necessarily mean the city game areas are going to be profuse. We'll probably see a few highlight areas and some adventuring locales in each city.- 31 replies

Multiple currencies
rjshae replied to Sheikh's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
There were multiple currencies in F:NLV. I suppose it added slightly to the sense of having different cultures and governments, but beyond that it didn't make much of a difference. It was really just an additional set of numbers in the inventory. Having a second currency that only certain vendors accept might provide some cultural atmosphere, particularly if the variation was geographical in nature.
