  1. I respectfully disagree. There's a lot of systems going into this feature, and it would be artificial and difficult to separate it from the storyline. The stronghold was very much not an option in Neverwinter Nights 2, and IMO it was one of the better parts of the game, so it's not like there's no precedent. I.e., my vote would be to fully integrate the stronghold into the storyline. Just like the dungeon of Od Nua for that matter. However, I think it ought to be possible to complete the game while being a lousy baron, just like there ought to be plenty of optional areas in the Od Nua dungeon. Always assuming suitable consequences naturally – missing out on cool/powerful items and/or XP, like with any optional content. i very much agree with those two points, if they are there they should be tied into the story at least a bit
  2. http://www.gog.com/game/neverwinter_nights_2_complete Comes with NWN2, MotB and SoZ soundtracks... And yeah, forgot to mention but the music was good. yes! by far the best of any DnD game in my opinion i pretty much agree with everything in the OP, especially the camera controlls SoZ complements mask of the betrayer in a very nice way, in doing the opposite style of campaign one of the better exploration based games i've played, i usually don't like those too much, but SoZ is real nice (with mods to reduce the pointles encouters, but who would play without mods anyway?) this reminds me that i still have to finish mysteries of westgate! anyone played that one?
  3. every time i see the "infernal harness of unrelenting might" next to those rather common other signature items i just have to start giggling :D
  4. well, he was talking about "heavily-armoured wizards" so yea.... i like the eastern stuff, it's fancyyyyyyy
  5. the win again is strong in those last pictures
  6. now THAT is how female armour should look like very impressive the armour the blond one is wearing would make for a fantastic high quality elven armour, it is almost too fancy for anything else
  7. great post, i agree with everything you write there a very nice breakdown of whats important for rememberable characters
  8. i've certainly spent far more time building characters in NWN2 than playing the game the icewind dale remake is great for that, since you get to create 6 characters as in the original 6 characters * 3 class possibilities each = the ultimate party of maaaadness god, i LOVE prestige classes and multiclassing in a mmo usually i've got more than 20 different characters too, i always play all the classes barely any character sees max lvl though
  9. sure hope there is going to be a hell of a lot of that stuff
  10. please do ze evil publishers (aka backers) demand you most make update!
  11. Mass Effect and Dragon Age blow both of them out off the water character wise. do the same poll on any other forum and the outcome will be *slightly* different not to say torment doesn't have some of the best characters, because it does
  12. well, there IS that talking wardrobe in the brothel in planscape torment, your idea is not as absurd as you might have thought someone working at obsidion right now could be responsible for that character you know
  13. PE's ruleset is about as different from 3E as 3E was from 2nd Ed. AD&D. As a reminder, IWD2 was a 3E D&D game, not a 2nd Ed. AD&D game. if the improvement of the ruleset from IWD2 and NWN2 to PE is as big as from IWD1 to IWD2 we'll all be praising you a lot (well, most of us i guess)
  14. i can't compare as i have never played the first one only played the 2nd because i played FF10 (awesome game, with awesome characters too) at a friends home, and since i've never owned any console but wanted to play something like it anyway, i've got grandia2 since it had been like the only jrpg out there for PC back then What i can say about the game is that different from what you say about the first one it had a slow start, but improved enormously as the game progressed and the story and characters became more and more interesting, to finally culminate in what has to be the weirdest ending and boss fights i have ever experianced in a game mind you, not a bad ending, just weird the game is too easy though, but i didn't mind when i played it, as i liked the story so much
  15. speaking of them games from japan ever played grandia 2? that one too has got some amazing characters: a robot created soley for war slowly learning what free will and responsibility mean as the game progresses, and by doing so demonstrating what's the meaning of being a human, that's some cool **** that i want to see in more games, it could be right out of some Isaac Asimov novel (that being one of the greatest compliments i can give to any writer) @Chaos Theory: You are making some very fine points here But seriously, the best companion in Mass Effect is Garrus, and maybe Mordin as a second i think mass effect may be the only series where liked the male characters more than the female, of which miranda was my favorite; interestingly enough i don't think she is all that much attractive, but i really like her character (and voice actor)
  16. mass effect is the best one in that regard, all the way, not the slightest doubt about that after that it gets more difficult, couldn't say which one is second except ultima, the characters are barely worth the name, as sacred_path has said they are puppets, and that's the worst thing you can possibly say about a character
  17. some celtic warriors did, but more for religious reasons than anything else well, once the middle ages were over, some nobility choose to wear lighter armour, but only because they no longer would be in proper battle themselfs
  18. the pictures are superb and i like how the PC is female
  19. it's about time they anounce the delay nothing wrong with saying "it'll take us roughly half a year longer, no exacte time possible blablabla" avoids a lot of stupid speculation but i guess more important would be some info how that backer site is going... THAT one is really overdue
  20. you could a friend of mine and me played BG2 with my savegame a looooong time ago, and then i had to walk away for some 10 minutes as it happend, the baby was born in that 10 minutes (right inside a dungeon :D ) and my friend did overwrite my old savegame after that, so i couldn't load after i came back and missed it there you go, my personal trauma with BG2
  21. i'm of the same opinion here, full plate armour should cost a fortune also, i too would like to have more than 1 armour slot, at least have seperated breast and leg armour (und a herzlichs "Grias God" noch Ästereich so nem'bei *wink*)
  22. it's a "nice to have" feature for me dragon age did this in a very good way, but even there it barely played much of a role in the later game (but when it did, it was great) however, i don't have the slightest problem with games that totaly force a certain character on you (witcher games e.g.) either
  23. i very much agree with this i'd rather have a crash now and then, if obsidian are being a bit to ambitious and they implement one awesome feature more as a tradeoff of course, that's not an excuse to release overly buggy stuff, the game should work what i can NOT forgive that easily is camera controls like in NWN2 or Alpha Protocol *shudder* thank god this game is 2D and they can't mess that one up so easily
