  1. hey, this is adams thread, get out of here! how dare you people answer his questions? seriously though, all the answers are very much appreciated!
  2. for the record: i've found BG2 to be a lot more difficult than any of the icewind dales i have no idea how you are supposed to beat the last battle in TOB, couldn't do it to this day, even on easy on the other hand, i've hardly even had to reload in any of the ID battles, and managed to kill the final bosses without too much trouble
  3. obsidian made alpha protocol that's all you need to know to answer this topic how many games have you played where you can team up with the main villain (or his minion, for that matter) and then after everything is done, blow him up (or not)? the only other games that i have played that come close to AP to some degree with choice and consequence are dragon age 2 and NWN2 (also by obsidian) this is the one thing we will not be disappointed with this game, i'm pretty sure of that
  4. yes, very much yes too bad they made her die in the castle at the end btw the name of that game is redemption not bloodlines
  5. now that you mention him... EVAYNE! Larrels daugther how could i not think of her? one of the most memorable NPCs in my gaming career, although you do not even meet her once i absolutely love that whole part of icewind dale around the severed hand
  6. the drugged Volos in Mass Effect 2 BIONIC GOD! i hate drugs with a passion, but that scene is just priceless the Gothic series had a few very memorable characters too
  7. Not that I care either way, and I like it, but honesty time: did you come up with that solely to address this issue? (I like the attention to detail though) The concept of adra was developed early on as a not-quite magical material that had some interesting properties. I like being able to have "impossible" structures, but I don't like hand-waving their impossibility away. Unfortunately your secret is out, Mr Sawyer. Those friendly folks at the RPGCodex have published the inside story behind your Adra concept: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/pillars-of-eternity-kickstarter-update-70-screenshots-stats-and-stuff.89119/page-5#post-3061980 Seriously, no wonder everyone hates that place. indeed i actually clicked that link and read a few posts, now i feel the need to clean myself good lord, disgusting
  8. same here, with exactly the same games too to me, kickstarter already has proven to be a very valuable source of interesting games just keep your expectations to a realistic level, people even if PE should turn out to be only one third as long as BG2, that's still an enormous game, and maybe better for it, more focus on core elements can be a good thing and from the updates so far i'm having the impression that they are doing very well, much more so than many other kickstarters did at this point of time in development also remember: this game is being made by the guys that created torment, the icewind dales, the fallouts, alpha protocol, mask of the betrayer, bloodlines they are the best of the best at what they do, if they can't do it, noone can i'm absolutely certain this game is NOT going to be lacking choice and suffer from too much linearity it just isn't
  9. female cipher with medium armour and a 2handed sword, that much is for sure can't decide on the race though, the only thing i know is that it isn't going to be an orlan
  10. agreed i've got Expeditions: Conquistador recently considering the amount money they had it turned out really well, even if there are still many things that could be done better the soundtrack is pretty damn good, and i like how the music is sparsely used in this game the one thing that strikes me as completely odd with this game how they treat men and women completely equaly that just doesn't fit 16th century.. also lots of interesting gender based dialog options wasted here if you are playing a female character (which i am)
  11. I have to say they could not have reduced my interest any more than by mentioning Skyrim of all games, lifeless generic cliche game, lacking almost any form of atmosphere, that it is Open world games by default need more money than almost anything else, if they are to be any good, since you need to do pretty much everything that you do for a more linear game, and lots of optional stuff on top of that. Not exactly the kind of stuff you do with small kickstarter budgets. The other option is to go for a more procederal generated sandbox style of game, but why the hell would the company with the best track reckord of writen dialog on the planet do a sandbox game, that doesn't focus on anything they are good at? I don't have a problem with epesodic format though, in fact, I even like the idea, whatever the genre may be
  12. people, please stop all the talking about a World of Darkness game by Obsidian it would be a match made in heaven indeed even thinking of it is killing my wallet
  13. it's all a matter of taste, nothing more and i for one like my screen to be clear of anyhing not needed all the time, and to only have it there once it is really needed i've played raides in the rather complex mmo vangurad (and a raid being a situation where you need to look at a LOT of buttons, icons, and health bars) without any problem using this UI layout edit: added a second screenshot showing pretty much the absolute maximum of stuff that ever could be on my screen
  14. for the record: karkarov's mockup is fantastic heavyweight feeling, yet out of the way credit where credit is due
  15. my best guess: south park development is nearing its end finally, and obsidian doesn't have an overwhelming number of other projects that these people can work on after it is finished so why not try another kickstarter? they might ask themselfs it's probably exactly the same situation that double fine and inexile had been in when they launched the second kickstarter, with the first one being still right in the middle of development
  16. cyberpunk by obsidian? now THAT is something i would consider backing once more, sir if they really do another kickstarter i just hope they have realistic expectations kickstarter lost a lot of steam since etrnity and torment, there is no guarantee they'll even reach the 1.1 million they asked for PE again, even with a very good pitch
  17. Yeah, all of the character animations are alpha and will be receiving more polish later in development. good to hear, all the characters not reacting at all even if hit by a lightning does look a bit strange
  18. alright, some feedback on that trailer: the backrounds look awesome, effects are pretty cool too as expected though, the characters just don't blend with the environment, they just stick out, i guess there's not much that can be done about that with this kind of 2d 3d mix though the music is very well crafted and deserves special mention!
  19. more content: no, or at least not much more companions and reactivity: hell yes
  20. interesting turn of events are they anticipating they might be running out of money? wouldn't be too surprised, 4 millions always sounded a bit low to deliver everything they promised let's wait and see
  21. i was just about to write a dissapointed comment on how it is sad that they didn't release the update this morning (i'm from europe) after all and then i realized today is tuesday, not wednesday, and the update isn't even supposed to be live yet *hits wall with head*
