  1. i am in favor of a classless system, however, since we are stuck with classes, i'd like the Dragon age model giving classes a whole new set of skills, like blood magic or something (of course this should go on top of very flexible classes in the first place, just adding even more options)
  2. that one's nice! very lordly (that guy probably had been like the greatest snob ever, whoever he was)
  3. dread: bad pacing, 2 hours of combat only followed by 2 hours only talk, and repeat obsidian trys to do too much, bugs everywhere game too long, as in feeling streched (like dragon age origins) dream: influence system and companions as brilliant as in AP or MotB or Dragon Age2 more voice acting than i think there will be (unlikely) more to follow cool thread
  4. i second this last statement well met mylady, nice indeed to finally get to know more about the person behind all this mostly very well done art although i have to say, all that talk about ugly beasts in dark corners is kinda creepy me, i'm likin' ma esthetic pleasing enemies in bright light, rather than them terrible monsters
  5. i'm too having the impression that PE is one of the better managed kickstarters out there, but what do we know of internal dealings at obsidian? right: nothing on the other hand, if a well established company like obsidian, filled with veterans of the industry, can't stick to budget, who can? so far, none of the more prominent kickstarters seems to **** up their project completely, a fact that's actually rather surprising as for Double Fine: i'm confident they will deliver a game that despite all the trouble is bigger than the one they originally kickstarted for, and you have to consider that they have to pay the guys making the documentary too still, they seem to be the ones most incapable to stay whithin budget as far as updates and communication goes PE is by far the best one besides Brogen Age the updates sometimes are lacking a bit in depth, but they are frequently, and Josh never shies away from discussion on the forum to be honest i would have expected even more communication, but compared to many other kickstarters obsidian is doing a fantastic job in that regard
  6. one thing: who says only people who want a new infinity engine game backed this game? i for one backed it because, while i also liked the icewind dale games bg2 and torment very much, i enjoyed the more recent games obisdian has made i backed it because of the fantastic writing, the choices and consequences in Alpha Protocol i backed it because of the awesome story and unbelievably good party members in mask of the betrayer my ultimate hope is that for once an obsidian game will be as well executed on a technical and gameplay level as much as they always have been on the narative level the absent need for console versions and simply the fact that this game is in 2d are two major reasons for me backing too
  7. erm, no? it's real armour there simply are two types of scale armour: one where scales are overlapping and fastened on leather beneath, and the type you see here, where scales are connected by bits of mail this type of armour is also called lamellar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamellar_armour look at the hourse armour above, it's exactly the same thing
  8. some halfplates: renaissance full plate: armour like that should cost a fortune in game, even if not magic, it had been insanely expensive to produce back then scale:
  9. i'd like to get only slightly stronger with levelups, but to get a ****load of new skills, that aren't always stronger than the old ones, but more diverse
  10. can't be enough purple around the purple can make the worst boss fight possible into an epic thing to remember!
  11. my opinion on the threads main question: take everything, except the PARTY AI AND INTERFACE *screams in pain* the CAMERA CONTROLS *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH* and please please better overal optimization, the damn thing stutters STILL, despite my computer being a thousand times faster luckily, much of that should go away simply because Eternity is in 2D i liked pretty much everything else OC is very down to earth and default fantasy, but nicely done, so no problems with it MOTB is like the best thing ever, one of the best stories ever to be featured in a computer game SOZ, focusing on the gameplay more than story is very nice too, i really liked the fact that every party member can talk in dialogs and the free traveling on the overland map DnD 3.5 was working really well for a computer game too, i've spent hours only building characters with the AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME flexibility that comes through all the races and prestige classes (especially with mods!)
  12. wow, that had been some FAST speaking by chris awesome presentation, i laughed a lot so glad this guy is writing computer games for us
  13. same here, not a single one, and if, it will suck
  14. there's something true about this statement i still enjoy other games of course, but save for bioware games, every once in a while i think to myself "if only obsidian had done the writing on this game"
  15. If we used prepositions and articles to represent those relationships (especially to the extent that Italian does), it actually comes across as too Earth-like, IMO. that's the point i disagree with, i'd prefere real italian to something constructed any day of the week - the only problem i see with that is that you probably shouldn't mix together several languages if you were to use real ones, and had to go for italian or french only but this boils down to a matter of taste mostly, so i don't think there's any real chance to convice you there
  16. fair enough, but on a larger scale, isn't that a battle that you can't really win? you make something sound right for english readers => now the french (or whoever else) start to read funny things because now it has some meaning in their language :D of course, i'm aware you are making this game for english speakers primarly, so it's not a big deal i guess anyway, i just wanted to say how very much i enjoy reading about development related stuff like this from you guys; loving your open way of communicating with us backers! keep on rockin'
  17. i'll never get the hang of those constructed languages why not just use REAL irish cornish or french/italian in the few places where you'll have to use those languages it should sound just as strange to the average english speaking reader no one ever had a problem with dwarves using a scottish dialect, and it's just as modern as those others would be anyway, do as you please, but i just don't get it
  18. this = very true as for the update: it's a great one, thank you Adam
  19. obsidian and arkane (the french part of it) working together on one game that would be like the best thing since the invention of the toothbrush the gameplay of dark messiah together with a story and characters like in mask of the betrayer or alpha protocol after this game is released the nuclear war can start, because humankind would have created the best piece of art it can possibly dream to create for the record: dark messiah does have a very well written story too, but not obsidian like well written
  20. i'd like for the portraits to be about 1.5x that size, and to have the dialog box on the left, but other than that, i think we have a winner here
  21. big thumbs up to you guys for all the updates and the answers to our questions in the update threads! i'm really loving that part of the kickstarter so far
  22. there will only be 2d enironments they will use 3d tilesets in some areas to render a basic version of the level to a 2d plane that then will be reworked by hand, you will propably not even notice that 3d tilesets have been involved, if they do it right
