  1. i will try to watch as much (good) footage as i can! why wouldn't you want to, if you are interested in the game? what is all this resisting about?
  2. There should be a Questgiver in the game with the name Lord Addler who orders you to kill a vile punsmith named Le Phys for driving the people of the land crazy with his terrible pun-magic
  3. i expect there to be a lot less "in your face" humor than in original sin, and more the kind of humor that works WITHIN the world itself and of course one over the top and "crazy by definition" character - like morte in torment
  4. in the very few cases that movies from bavaria or some of the northern german states are recorded in the local dialect they sometimes are subtitled (and german dialects are the most different from each other, within one language, in the whole world, as far as i know. And I think this is true, i can't understand somebody from northern germany if he speaks dialect, and most germans don't understand bavarian enough to really understand what i am saying if i speak that language) it happens a lot with swiss stuff though, that very often is subtitled in german TV
  5. what does happen when matter and antimatter meet? i don't know whithout looking it up on some physics website, but it can't be healthy i think you just get pure energy, don't you?
  6. Said the swordsman to the disarmed archer. 6_u Oh Lephys..... Ok I admit, I laughed
  7. now that you mention it, i think every infinity engine game has horrible first hours, they all get awesome later, but the beginning? bg1 - candlekeep? fetch-quests, and you can die in the damn tutorial, also DnD lvls 1-3, ughhhhhh icewind dale - orks and goblins in a cave.... come ooooon? icewind dale2 - orks and goblins, AGAIN??? BG2 - irenicus dungeon, ugly and incredibly boring torment - the worst of them all, hours and hours of nothing but talk, and mostly not of the good kind, and you start in a building full of zombies... also if you don't already know the planscape setting it will confuse the **** out of you no.. they really didn't have good opening hours... funny enough, i think of all the DnD games, NWN2 OC had the best opening *shrug* the best openings of all isometric rolplaying games can be found in dragon age1 - the origin stories are great throughout best opening of any game ever is Mass Effect 1 (with Demon Stone a close 2nd)
  8. i absolutely love the look and feel of the game - it has exactly the realistic yet fantasy touch i have been hoping for!
  9. please Josh, make sure there are as many non class specific talents in the game as you possibly can squeeze in in the time you obsidians have left to finish the game, this is sooo very much important to build interesting chracters
  10. still MotB and Alpha Protocol a game with all the usual Obsidian goodies but without the horrendous camera controls of these 2 games = my dream game
  11. i'm not too enthusiastic about the press getting information before us backers but otherwise, great update
  12. whether early acces is a good thing or not greatly depends on the type of game you are creating, and obsidian is developing the one kind of game that has to be the LEAST suited of them all => largely focused on story, and quite linear in progression it's great for sandbox games though, look at minecraft, the early releases had been terrible compared to where the game is now, but look what happend despite of that sometimes all it takes is a good idea and to show it to the world
  13. not reading the post before yours is quite unacceptable indeed
  14. No it hasn't. It's a harsh truth nobody wants to ever talk about, but all those backers? Loss. Nothing has actually been sold. Things have been funded. Right now, Obsidian is working at a 73,669 loss. The only difference is that we're not knocking on the door saying they had better deliver or we'll can the project four months from launch. To say that Obsidian has actually made money on Eternity is a ridiculous, ridiculous lie. well, the copies sold to this day have paid wages for over a year, so it's kind of earned money from a employees view as far as obsidian as a company goes you are right of course
  15. i'm fine with scaling as long as it is limited to some extent (no lvl 20 wolfs, more powerfull than dragons, please) and doesn't produce illogical results (oblivion-like bandits in super mighty armour + 5) same thing goes for the kind of encounter scaling all of the dnd based computer games used
  16. We decided to avoid dialogue skills since it pushes characters to invest in "the dialogue game" or miss out on a ton of enjoyable content. By using as many basic elements of the character as we can to shape dialogue, we keep dialogue open to all sorts of characters, from meat-head fighters to sassy wizards and everything in-between. Attribute-based checks worked well in Planescape: Torment and we think it will work well in PoE as well. love you guys!
  17. i doubt we will see too much new information at GDC and btw, alpha means "feature complete but not all content is finished", nothing more or less (even though only like 1% of the population seems to remember this these days)
  18. it's all about the content dude, not style that's the whole point of using words and not an image and you missed it good job Lephys, realy good job
  19. Are we talking the last TOB battle with or without the Ascension mod? vanilla i guess it's mostly due to my habit of building parties with people i like in BG vs effective parties that work well together in IWD and IWD2
