We all like a good 'plot', apparently. So let's talk specifics.
lolaldanee replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)i want to discover that the Baron of Santa Monica is a Malkavian i want to read "don't trust the skull" i want to tear down the wall of the faithless and slay a god hm, something tells me the plot of this game will be great :D

If there was only one RPG to be saved in the world I would choose.....
easy: mass effect 2, it has the best dialogs and characters in the history of gaming in my opinion, and at least for me that is the most important thing in an rpg
-
Voice Acting?
honestly i think the "only the beginning and not the rest of the dialog" thing is not that great an idea i'd rather see it if they would do the important dialogs complete, and not so important ones not at all having half the dialog voiced just seems odd to me, and always has aaah to bad there isn't the money for full voice acting

Update #24: Less than 30 Hours to go! Life and Death, and Audio CD Soundtrack!
I love the stamina concept! this is making a lot of sense regarding xp: there are 2 games that only give you xp for doing certain things or reaching a point in a level one is bloodlines the other dark messiah of might and magic in both games this system workes very very well i'm all for it (thinking of it: both games are skill based rather than level based also, that felt great too *hint hint*)

Spanish not equal Spain, the project spanish page is wrong for 350 millions of people
well, i think they will not translate it themselfs, and any company that does translations for them hopefully knows such specifics well enough to do the right thing out of interest: how are translations in most other computer games done in spanish? are they also having words specific for spain and not the whole spnish speaking world?

Adam Brennecke plays Icewind Dale II
But they also have some strengths compared to BG/BG2/PS:T imo. For example, I think the progression of encounters was done really well in IWD2. Which tactics and spells would help you the most continually changed as you progressed, so you had to adapt constantly which made it pretty interesting and challenging right through to the end. indeed i also think they have a very good story, (ok, torment is better, granted) what they lack is interaction with companions and freedom, since they are pretty linear games but the story as such is pretty awesome actually

Live Q&A Chat with Obsidian tomorrow 3 p.m PDT
I'm not even remotely interested in realism. If I want that I can go to work or wander up the road. I want to play a larger-than-life character, and if that means an archetypical villain then so be it. Am not interested in woolly, muesli-eating BS about relativity, TBH. you are aware exactly this is the core of all obsidian games yes?

The official Update 20 camp-out thread
don't get my hopes up man *has a glitter in his eyes when thinking of merril* sigh... best voice acting in ages

Your cake for the next three goals?
VERY good idea the best thing in SoZ! yes, this please

Dragon Age-style Tactics and other non-pause combat interfaces?
Did the final battle of Neverwinter Nights 2 last night. It doesn't have a formal AI scripting system, but it was a pain in the behind for this specific reason. ooooh, don't mention it if there is one thing i really hate about NWN2 it's that stupid boss fight where half of your guys suddenly would turn against you in that awfuly scripted way OT: i'd like to have DA:O's tactics system, it worked very well, but won't cry if it's not included

The Barbarian Glanfathan elves
lolaldanee replied to GhoulishVisage's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)think of the scotish highlanders, they gave the english some very good runs for their money in the 18th century, in a time much more advanced than late medieval age one of my chars in icewind dale 2 was a moonelf barbarian, so i'm looking forward to this

The Dwarf ranger is a companion!?!?!?
with psionics in game i might want to make my character one of those, but with a twist wearing full plate armour and simply walking up to enemies to stare them down, sounds nice enough

Best RPG memory
- the whole santa monica part in bloodlines, way better than the rest of the game - vampire the masquerade redemption: the whole game - mask of the betrayer, killing myrkul and the whole ending - the first 15 minutes in mass effect 1 and the whole of mass effect 2 - some of the origin stories in dragon age1 and the whole of dragon age 2 - the 2nd half of icewind dale 1, from the moment you enter the hand onwards, awesome story from there on - every single line of dialog in aquanox 2 (ok thats no rpg at all, but still, i liked it for the story not the gameplay :D ) - dark messiah of might and magic: the whole game, best combat in any game ever - gothic 1: the whole game, but especially the beginning - alpha protocol: watching videos on youtube, only to learn that Scarlet is the assassin, did not learn it during my playthrough, OUCH that one hurt - tooooo many more

[Merged] George Ziets as as the 2.8 million stretch goal
now that is a tough one, i hated one of many with all my heart, but the rest of the lot was awesome + 5 if i have to pick one i'd say kaelyn the dove was the best of them all :D i mean, attacking the wall is like pissing off ALL the gods at once gotta admire her, heres some real devotion :D
