indeed... The witcher did not have anything an rpg needs like intresting characters quests that could alter by little or much the course of the main story hard combat where you had to use every trick in the book to get on top of each situation a world that reacted to your actions a main vilain with such a deep backstory that left you wondering if he was ever a vilain to begin with dialogue without the blue=good red=evil answers

I thought you needed at least a 2 Gig card? if it runs, i will have to go Gothic 3 style (for those who remember how heavy it was at launch)
-
i did the preload last night i wonder if it will even run at minimum. my AMD 8350 CPU is fine as are the 8GB of ram, but the HD7770 1GB is below the minimum requirements my brother should be fine with his R7 260x 2GB

well it's mostly a question of technical difficulty. how do you make it flop around realistically? and then the aesthetic question. cut or uncut and how long? there is a multitude of problems when making the 3D model of a naked man that are not there for a woman's.

So, traps?
teknoman2 replied to abaris's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
im using traps often and they work fine if you use arrow or dart traps its normal that you see nothing but the effect is there. however the best traps are those that have effects like fireballs, poison clouds etc. these traps can really hurt the enemy if you can keep him in the aoe -
The lady TIE Bomber pilot in this vid (at 4:10) did make me feel kinda funny in my chair: the style reminds me of the 80s version of Area 88 (there was a remake in 2004 or 05 but it was toned down on the violent details like pilots getting shredded by 20mm shells)

seraph and bladeworks so far have the best intro songs... at least for my tastes

so, they pass a new law because of a butthurt celebrity. that's so common, it wouldn't even make it in the news in the US and many other western countries

Another incident with black men getting shot by police
teknoman2 replied to Drowsy Emperor's topic in Way Off-Topic
it is a vicious cycle bad police behavior leads to distrust from civilians. that makes criminals more brazen. police gets more brutal in response. civilians get harrassed more often by the police. dissidense grows. crime rate goes up. police gets even more aggressive. throw the terrorism wildcard in the mix and the police militarization that resulted from it and now the civilians see police as an occupation army and the police sees everyone as guilty until proven innocent. add now some crazy laws like the one that allows police to accuse and "arrest" your property (civil forfeiture) and you get a really unstable batch of TNT -
Socrates’ criticism of democracy (i.e why its BS)
teknoman2 replied to Luj1's topic in Way Off-Topic
to put it in the words of a certain comic author Democracy is 3 wolves and 1 sheep voting on what to have for dinner -
dont have a pic but i was reading something that happened in china. a guy's parents told him that they found a great girl for him to marry and talked him into accepting. he never met the bride until the day of the wedding while his parents got everything ready. when he got to the church and saw her, he ran and jumped off a bridge. he decided to wash with his life the dishonor of his family for him not wanting to marry such an ugly woman after all the preparations

Socrates’ criticism of democracy (i.e why its BS)
teknoman2 replied to Luj1's topic in Way Off-Topic
Sounds better than *modern oligarchies* anyway. The only thing correct in the original post seems to be the fact that Socrates is dead and the Athenians are credited for that. The rest is mostly a number of traits rewritten with a lot of artistic freedom from his original description of oligarchy as a form of government. wait is there any place that does not have an oligarchy? far as i know, we choose our government from the politicians of today, who are relatives and friends of the politicians that formed the governments of 10-20 years ago, and 10-20 years in the future, the friends and relatives of todays politicians will be the politicians among whom we will be choosing the next government our vote really counts doesnt it? -

I do not deserve Obama. I did not deserve Bush. I did not deserve Clinton, I do not deserve the threat of his wife creature, I do not deserve Harry Reid, I do not deserve John Boehner, I do not deserve Nancy Pelosi, I do not deserve Ruth Bader Ginsburg, I do not deserve John Roberts, I do not deserve the income tax, I do not deserve to lose friends and family to imperialist wars, I do not deserve to have people killed in my name that I wish no ill upon, I do not deserve to lose my property at gun point and rot in jail if I fail to pay the government extortionists (also known as the IRS) their 'protection' money for which I have no use, I do not deserve to be forced to purchase a commodity I have no use for (Obamacare), I do not deserve to be monitored in any way shape or form by my government or anyone else, I do not deserve to be lied to, I do not deserve to be harassed by government thug revenue collectors (also known as police) as I drive down the road bothering no one, I do not deserve.... I could go on for the rest of the month easy, possibly for the whole year..... While it can be argued that any populous as a whole gets the government they deserve, certainly a good deal of the citizens stuck under that government (whatever type it is) do not deserve that government. We are all stuck with what we get as a government, democracy isn't special in this regard. No ruler ever turned any nation into a paradise for it's people. but this is how democracy works. if the majority is ok with being raped you have to drop down your pants too, and as long as the majority are ok with it the president will be a rapist. -

in a non democratic country, you have to deal with what you get as government. the pro is that you may get a ruler who turns the place into a paradise, the con is that he may be the worst tyrant in democracy both the pro and con is the same thing: you get exactly the government you deserve, no better and no worse -

i dont see why someone should hate democracy or any other form of government... they are all equally flawed. each is convenient for some and not so much for others, while the trully rich are simply above and beyond They are not "equally flawed". Some forms of government are simply better than others. So far representative republics have been very much out-performing despotism for example. trust me they are. everything manmade has as many cons as it has pros... it all depends from what angle you see the coin -

democracy is not a failure it is simply an illusion, since the best slave is the one who thinks he is free. -
