  1. So can we just agree that we want optional romances, well written and intelligent like we could expect from Avellone, not some testosterone fueled t&a-fest. That they should be included if it doesnt require a great deal of sacrifice from other aspects of the game. All this as a means of further role-play and re-playability
  2. You can easily have sex without romances being involved. You can also have romances without sex being involved. I think the latter is where most of Obsidian's past coverage of the subject has gone (with the possible exception of NWN2 with the tacky Elf stalker "romance", which felt completely out of place). While i loved Nwn 2 and mask of the betrayer even more, the romance options were , well.. terrible. Only Gann was decent. Stalker Elf, Self-righteous Paladin and Baldy Bald Wizard not so much... did i mention the wizard was bald? Very frigid too but mostly BALD. You failed to see the point of this romance if you stopped at her baldness. I know, im terrible.
  3. Make a poll, or we could have cool animations. Regarding animations on high level spells: Try less fireworky, more imploding star.

  5. I never meant to imply i wanted color-coding included. Let me rephrase, a legendary item might be a unique artifact, deeply embedded in the lore of the game, with abilities and historical context that separates it from the common enchanted dagger or jewelry. Regardless of whether there will be item tiers, or the rarity of magical enchantments, a legendary artifact is difficult to claim, and if someone already possesses one, assume they are of either considerable personal or political power. These items should not be something you can just stumble over either, as some sort of banal bonus for not being blind when you prance around during a quest.'They could for example be artifacts given to men and mere by gods as tools meant to further their goals in a proxy-war against a rival deity. This i agree with. I think the reason i feel so strongly about this was the disappointment in going through hordes of enemies in Oblivion and behind a closed master locked door at the very end of the dungeon i found a potion and 3 gold coins. Hand placing indeed.
  6. What about a villain that want to bring the same pain he/she had known (perhaps from a lover/parents/sibling/children's death during war), to a world now peaceful, who has now forgotten the atrocities committed by the respectful governments. Realizing humans wont change and will never respond to anything but fear he rationalizes that universal peace can only be achieved if he holds the world hostage, that resistance is met with total annihilation so that citizens are reminded of what suffering they will know if they attempt to breach the peace.
  7. Fine with the classical ui but if the areas are big we need a mini map or something so we have a bit of perspective.
  8. Great update, but hopefully there will be costs to skill-allocations so we wont be able to make demigod-builds that can do anything.
  9. Definitely, i've yet to see this having been implemented in a game. Making it a legendary would have to require ingredients not commonly found though. There would have to be certain mechanisms or constraints that could fend off abuse.
  10. I purchased Storm of Zehir but never played it when i found out it didnt have companions like NWN2 and MoTB. So my stance is pretty obvious on this.
  11. A problem i find in the occasional modern rpg is that unique items are often too easy to find and are often done so by either random drops or in a chest on your way to a greater goal. Another traditional method of acquiring them is through boss fights. Yes ok, fighting a particularly powerful foe should yield its rewards, but for those items, these legendary artifacts that have changed the course of that games history, they should be secretive, they should not be found simply as a drop to a boss you had to kill anyway. Dragon Age has the same problem, some of the most powerful items there are found simply on your way to another objective, in obvious shining containers. What is the gratification in finding a beautifully crafted weapon, giving you an edge in combat simply as a prize for not being completely blind? Skyrim had a good idea with locations of certain artifacts hidden in books. The problem was that it marked the location of the item on your map the moment you picked up the book and left nothing to chance, the book itself was also commonly found. Playing Fable, i recall the most powerful sword required a certain alignment for the tomb that contained it to open, another was a sword-in-the-stone type where you could see men from the local village trying their strength attempting to pull it out, not to mention certain chests that required a particular amount of keys found throughout the world. That is what i would like to see, that there is some challenge involved in finding an artifact of significant power, be it trough optional side quests , cryptic requirements or deducing their location through obscure data. If you absolutely cant find it and still want it, ask google. PS: I make a distinction between unique and legendary items. Legendaries are certainly unique but are distinct through power and historical relevance.
  12. Art of most excellent quality. I am in support of this stretch-goal.
  13. Yup, i'm still surprised they didnt just throw me against the amassed darkspawn horde in Dragon Age: Awakening, my useless team fell in a matter of minutes against the ghost dragon while i had to witter it away over the next 10 minutes. Or better, in skyrim i was a damned demi-god at level 60. Seeing a dragon was like a fly buzzing around you irl, their presence alone is an irritation but once they sit down on the ground they get smashed.
  14. I will give more once i get some more information, probably crank it up another 80$.
  15. Born Montenegrin, raised brunost-and-bakels-Norwegian.
  16. Sound is extremely important, be it for atmospheric purposes or for combat. A powerful spell is nothing without the sweet sound of space and time cracking beneath the oscillations of a small star forming in your palms.
  17. Norway, Nordmøre. We are actually just a big city in Sweden where everyone rides polar bears to work.
  18. Modding kits allows for a game to contain its fanbase for far longer times than other games. Think of it as a investment in future releases. Also, more replayability (which also means classes and races though).
  19. Massive-giant-collossoal-oh god im so lost where does this end-dungeon PLEASE
  20. Obsidian, here's a comparison of dlc and expansion pack. DLC: Kasumi - Stolen Memories Expansion pack: Mask of the Betrayer (Best Rpg expansion i have ever played, thank you for this one)
  21. Those are beautiful and definitely trumps a rotating camera, but as already mentioned technicalities such as animation must take precedent. Hopefully they can be mixed well.
  22. I really like this concept. Even more, i like the fact that the gods arent the passive kind. Also, woo polearms.
  23. Yeah, but 20 hours are nothing for a classic (text-driven) isometric RPG. It took you already hours reading all the dialogue.... But I join the question stated above about the minimum sum for creating a game of the size of BG 2 and the depth of PST! Aye, i will reach into the deepest pits of my pockets if this becomes a reach goal. Then again, ill be throwing more money into the rpg wishing well once i see some more info on them anyway. How much depends entirely on what more they reveal about their vision.
  24. Yeah, you guys are gonna need some serious QA. Hearing you're gonna do a beta is reassuring though.
