  1. Well lets start with the crafting: My core problem with this is the "balance" that is very hard to get. There are only a few games where i have enjoyed crafting and felt that it was a good (basic) system. When you have a "skill" where you put points you will either end up with a skill that everyone have to take or you dont put any points into it at all. Now if there are "super rare hard to get legendary weapons"(that you find parts of) that you need the skill to be able to craft then its fine. But overall if its just a "grind" then it wont end being a very good system. Ofc this is just my opinion. Durability tend to either just be a money sink or annoying. Its very very rare to find a good durability system now days. Do i care if there is a durability system? Yes and no... If its there to just be a money sink or to make crafting "worth" it then it might as well be removed in my opinion.
  2. The picture from the update is actually a somewhat poor example for this reason. There are two steps we're taking to address this: 1) doors placed in levels (other than double doors) will always have their hinges on the far side of the scene (i.e. "up") 2) doors always open away from the character opening it. We may also implement a third element (but we hope it won't be necessary): a force movement input (e.g. through a key toggle) that ignores context sensitive actions at a location and would allow you to get as close as the collision/pathing permits. When i read that i was going to suggest a "ignore objects (like doors / chests and so on)" key. This way you can also "loot" things that are behind a door to give a example.
  3. Are we going to be able to smash doors / chests to open them and maybe have the items break depending on a chance?
  4. A interesting thing would be if people prayed to the gods for different reasons. Lets say there is a god of "thief's, lies, gambling, stealing, rule breaker" or whatever you want to call him/her. Then the question some is why would a person that is not a thief pray to that god? Well it could be so that by praying you also "protect" yourself from thief's,lies... Maybe you ask for luck when you gamble and so on. Same with a god of death... Why would people pray to a god like that? Well maybe its to get a long a healthy life, maybe you are about to go out and fight and ask for protection against your enemies and so on. Anyway just my minor idea.
  5. Twitch in my opinion. You can always upload them to youtube laterwith that if you want. Just try to fix the streaming and so on before so that its high quality and work correctly.
  6. Apparently some people fear that getting rid of kill XP will mean they can't game the system and min-max enough for their tastes. Go figure. Also, quest XP? A more accurate term would be OBJETIVE XP. Quest is tied to much to quest givers and actual contracts. Aha... Well one can still "min / max" people that want to go back and kill everything that move can still do so. They wont get any experience once they completed the quest. However they will get gold & items. And if Obsidian balance the game abit so that not all the best items are in chests and they are more spread out. Puzzles, hidden object, chests, special creatures then it should be okey. Overall i think we will see a more "balanced" game with more options and more playstyles by using a objective based system... No one will be weak because they decided to talk their way out of issues. Instead the experience will be balanced around everyone having the same experience (- side objectives). At said point. But yeah like i said before i dont see the problem.
  7. Hmm well im not sure. I think i understand what you mean right now but i think i would rather have them focus on the main story making it have more cause and effect and overall higher quality. If they make it in a good way then the story will explain itself by lore, npc information and simply just looking at the world.
  8. I honestly dont see the problem that some people here have. Maybe someone could explain it?
  9. In most cases i want everything "unlocked" the first time i play it. If i then want to play it again it should not be for a "new game+" If its a new story then you might as well have it as a expansion and focus on making the core game as good as possible.
  10. Will we see more then 1 animation for attacks? For example if you do the same attack 3 times in a row you will "continue" to swing the weapon back and forth (just to give a example). Instead of having the character "reset" after each swing. Will we have any special death animations? Enemies melting / exploding / burning to ash? Do you do anything beside animate characters? Do you animate things like trees and so on also?
  11. It would depend on how magic work within the game world. Can you even make a magical item that have a enchantment that last forever? How would it work anyway ? did someone take another persons soul and forge it into a weapon?
  12. Well if the game become good and sell good they might maybe perhaps do another small batch of boxed copies. But that would only be if the game sell good and turn out to be a good game.
  13. So holdon... if i get this correctly there is no "miss" only "glancing blows"? I just wokeup so i hope i read it wrong. The entire point and reason i why i backed this project was because i want a game with a deep (lol its kinda sad that one have to consider "miss" as a deep system now days) game play system. I dont want a action or rts game where you can never miss. Just point and whack! Heck even hack and slash games have hit chance... No im very disapointed and honestly if i could after reading some of the comments as of late i would remove my pledge if i could. It seems that more and more things are done for the "wider audience" people that cant bother to read or understand systems. Also im not a huge fan on how hard it is to find comments made by Sawyer. Why are you posting these things over at other forums instead of sharing it with the people that backed the game...? *sigh*
  14. Sounds nice overall... But im abit worried about the choices that you can make within your class... I happen to like the "overwhelming" choices aslong as they are in some way useful. Also are there weapon specializations? I mean using a axe or sword or dagger or staff is very different and one would in general have to learn how to use the weapons. Anyway nice update Also i hope the "roll" that the rogue have use "stats" to decide if it work or not. Im going to be very disappointed if you activate the ability and you "twitch" away without the ability to fail it or so.
  15. Can someone explain to me why you need to have a gun or a rifle? (other then hunting / sports?). I know some people say that they have guns so they can protect themselves against people with guns. However aint that abit of a illogical loop? By making guns easier to get dont you make it easier for "crazy" people to get weapons to kill other people? Even if its abit to late to change right now because there are so many guns out in the hands of civilian people that even if they changed the law it would be very hard to enforce it. Would having harder gun control laws remove all gun killings? No. But it would reduce it. If you take sweden as a example most of our shootings are hunting related or gang vs gang (where normal people still dont get hurt). But still i guess the core problem is how many Americans view guns from a cultural aspect.
  16. The main thing i look for is the ability to deal with situations depending on your characters stats / skill and abilities and not just "Button mash and people explode!". This dont mean that i dont play button mash people explode games once in a while. I also look at choices and consequences and also the story / setting and world.
  17. Cant wait for some nice mage battles! Oh i also hope we will have good path finding ai for both enemies and companions
  18. Good update! Thanks! Its interesting to follow a project from the start and it was fun to read and was informative! \o/
  19. War for the Overworld http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/subterraneangames/war-for-the-overworld Dungeon Keeper inspired game. They also have a tech demo up where they show some of the art and models. They are going to continue to "unlock" doors in the demo as the imp dig on kickstarter. Tech demo: https://www.wftogame.com/demo
  20. There is no point at all to DRM... There have not been a single DRM kind that have not been cracked. Sure there have been some that have taken a very long time to crack. Heck even MMO's and server based DRM have been cracked. Pirates will pirate. If they enjoy it they might buy it. Great you got a sale. But dont run around hunting them or use some kind of DRM that will hurt the people that bought the game.
