To suggest a man could educate himself on womens' issues (cough cough a.k.a. feminism cough cough) is fundamentally fallacious. Rather than tossing about trite graphs implying female professionals in the western world are paid less than males, an issue like discursive colonialism would be more appropriate.

Hopes on female armors design
AGX-17 replied to MarieL's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Their job isn't "make up some tedious BS to justify content meant to extract money from the groinal regions of the 12-24 male demographic." If the purpose is fundamentally so shallow, it doesn't deserve effort on the part of competent writers.- 148 replies

Hopes on female armors design
AGX-17 replied to MarieL's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Frankly, unexplained BS is better than writers having to twist themselves into knots with their heads up their asses to come up with "lore" to justify skimpy armor which we all know has always been for the sake of titillation, even if some of us aren't consciously aware of that fact.- 148 replies

The Case for Romance II
AGX-17 replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
So, I was wondering when the next Romance of the Three Kingdoms game is going to be made. I guess I'll settle for Dynasty Warriors 9 in the meantime. -
Thread title should be "Obyknven's Bridge Redux"

If Russia put Yulia Tymoshenko back in power the world would suddenly and inexplicably support Russia unconditionally.

I know about the 'normal' delay (which is probably the biggest reason people pirate things). But it was listed as being released on March 6 yesterday and today it is listed as an undefined March? Did it get delayed again? Don't worry, it's just out of spite for your pinko socialist utopia. The spirit of the Fallout universe's America lives on in all of our hearts.

Obsidian Entertainment is as safe as houses in Irvine!

As opposed to a bastion of safety like Detroit? Actually, Detroit sounds like a fun place to go for fans of post-apocalyptic fiction. -

Op-Ed: Bethesda, Obsidian, and $6 Million for a New Fallout

I seriously can't believe you guys are spewing out walls of text when this is just a guy promoting his blog already preaching to the choir. -
My car has this red light that says "Engine" that's been on for like, two weeks, what's the matter with my car? I also noticed it sounds weird when starting up and sometimes smoke comes out from under the hood. You guys know what the problem is? ....Why are you asking Obsidian forum members and not Corsair?

Hopes on female armors design
AGX-17 replied to MarieL's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You've defeated yourself. The original purpose of high heels, as stated by your own links, was to better grip stirrups while on horseback; PoE isn't a cavalry/mounted archery game. The context here is generic female armor, a woman running around in stilettos isn't going to survive long if it starts to rain and the field gets muddy. It makes perfect sense for a bunch of prissy nobles with powdered wigs dandying about a gilded palace to wear high heels, but not someone of either sex who wants to go out and slog through any/all manner of terrain and survive deadly combat. This isn't Kill la Kill, after all.- 148 replies

Thoughts on damage types
AGX-17 replied to ItinerantNomad's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Poison sounds like corrode. Curse could be determined on what type of curse it is. From Wikipedia, The word 'corrosion' is derived from the Latin verb corrodere, which means 'to gnaw', indicating how these substances seem to 'gnaw' their way through the flesh. Doubt if our characters will get hungry. Be good to get a confirmation on these. Corrosion and poison are two significantly different things (in reality, at least.) Poison ain't acid and acid ain't poison. Acid is a matter of electromagnetic attraction between free protons and anything that has an electron, poison is typically a molecule that's similar in structure to one vital for life, but isn't that molecule and, thus, does not perform its function and just sits there gumming up the works in a cell. Arsenic is a prime example: its compounds are similar to phosphates which are the 'P' part of Adenosine Triphosphate (and to a much lesser degree, Diphosphate,) which is how all living things power their activity. Shove an arsenic in there and suddenly you've got organelles trying to derive energy from something which won't give it up. -
As I Lay Dying; brandy in one hand, cigar in the other. My bleeding liberal heart is soothed by the dulcet tones of early 20th century southern familial dysfunction and a half-assed ending. Still, Faulkner is my favorite author. "Maidservant, fetch me more brandy." could be heard in the background. Of the text of the post on an internet forum.

Sorry, I wasn't. I actually have a can opener in my hand right now and a can of worms labeled "Misogynistic implications that any woman with sexual experience or even a hint of ever having misled a male with seductive behavior is a ****." I'm pretty hungry, actually, and I stopped caring about worms after learning basic biology. They're basically muscles with digestive tracts in place of bones. I ate a lot of worms in survival school. They're not actually that easy to find, contrary to popular belief. I hate slugs because you can't eat them. Well, not entirely, the way they respond to salt is somewhat entertaining. Mollusks are fascinating when they're exposed to such a basic molecule as sodium chloride. Discussion of slugs and the fact that they'll make you sick if you eat them is 100% relevant to Dragon Age, this is indisputable. That's the honor and reputation of Dragon Age. White tie only.

Going out on a limb and assuming you didn't see the promos for this game. The entire point of Thief was that you're a scrawny little man trying to steal things, not a SPESS MUHREEN whose bulging veins whip out of his skin to lash enemies to death (why wasn't that in Gears of War?)

Spill your blasphemous opinions on CRPGs here
AGX-17 replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Computer and Console
But this entire thread is just flamebait to begin with; if pro-romance discussion on forums.obsidian.net isn't trolling, then I don't know what is. I've got substantial experience in that field (I'd actually prefer to live up high in a tower rather than under a brige, however. But beggars can't be choosers, right?) -
Still waiting for the promised "decent user generated content" to fill the gap after the demo/launch campaign. Great system and gameplay, severe lack of quality scenarios.

The Flow of Continuity
AGX-17 replied to 600lbpanther's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
These broad vagaries of game design are a little... no, a lot too late. Better suited for general gaming discussion than PoE at this point. It seems like a lot of backers were unaware that Obsidian already had forums and had Project Eternity boards up in succession with the kickstarter, in which we spent many a night drinking copious amounts of alcohol while arguing the finer points of codpiece design. Hard to believe it was all a year and a half ago now. Have some faith, the grand council of sages at Obsidian have already decided on these factors. Peace be upon you. Kuwabara kuwarabara. -
'Rolling' attributes
AGX-17 replied to magicwallis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That would at least exclude any form of stochasticity from the process. After all, in sexual reproduction, everyone's genome is drawn from a simple pool of two genomes, the only variability is which section of the final genome is taken from which parent. Taking Mendel's work into account, there's very little veracity to the idea that someone's capabilities can be truly random. Even then, a die only has so many sides, and thus the "rolls" in question are limited to the number of sides on a given die or set of dice. Unless it's a sphere, in which case you might as well just make everything up and say you have infinite points in all attributes because a perfect sphere has infinite "sides." -
The Case for Romance.
AGX-17 replied to NanoPaladin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You say that as though romance would have been a given had His Majesty not made the Proclamation. It would not. Just because you can try to get into Gannon's pants in NV doesn't mean He ever intended you to be able to.
