  1. Rolling is a prehistoric relic in terms of RPGs. If you could find a more flawed method of chargen I'd commend you for it, although not monetarily.
  2. 最後の楽園を守るために

  3. Never heard of Path of Exile (or forgot it if I had,) P:E to PoE was an adjustment for me, but it's PoE. PoE.
  4. So what's the real problem? Reagan (in)famously cut mental health funding and support for veternas in the 80s (unfettered capitalism hasn't performed its supposedly inevitable miracle of fixing that problem,) politicians on both sides (albeit with more fervor on one side than the other,) tend to think the criminal justice system should be about revenge and punishment (i.e. "three strikes" laws which even conservatives in deep red states are recognizing as failures, or prosecutors insisting on trying juvenile offenders as adults to appease public opinion,) rather than reform (the evil socialist dystopias of Scandinavia have proven objectively that a reform-oriented system significantly reduces the number of repeat offenders.) Besides, most murders are committed by people who know each other, i.e. domestic violence, and typically not "in cold blood." Before certain parties go nutballs, I've never been able to interpret the Second Amendment as anything but an individual right to bear arms, given the context of its drafting. Taking into account the death penalty, that's failed as a deterrent as well. It's fine if you're dealing with a psychopath who'll never stop killing, but the most important thing to keep in mind is that nearly all murderers commit murder because they're either acting irrationally (i.e. fits of rage, schizophrenic episodes, etc.) or they rationally believe they won't be caught.
  5. Muramasa on Vita, somewhat irritated by the fact that you can't practice combat moves outside of combat encounters, but the visuals and Miyuki Sawashiro more than make up for that. Glad that games are finally coming out for it. The Id in me wishes I'd also gotten a 3DS for the veritable Eden of games available, but that would be financially and chronologically detrimental at this point.
  6. Did you not play Oblivion or Fallout 3? I'd be insulted if I wasn't so tired of Bethesda's use of 9 voice actors for 2895 fully voiced NPCs. The budget for which, obviously, was allotted as such: 90% Liam Neeson or similar big-name thespian A-list types, 10% other people to voice the other 99% of the game's characters. The sad part? I've played (read) Japanese visual novels with a who's who cast of every major and minor voice actor in their VA industry each playing a single unique character in a cast of dozens, and these are games that are so indie that they wouldn't even qualify for Steam Greenlight. I suppose that's more testament to networking than anything else (it's amazing the professional voice talent some of these nobody indie devs in Japan can scrape up for their products. Comparison: It'd be like some indie dev getting Nolan North and all his best friends in the industry to voice their game. Except in a country where voiceover work is actually respected and even celebrated.)
  7. That's clearly not true of the Dragon Age setting, though. Then they should think up something original instead of basing their world directly on the history of Europe, Earth, The Universe, ca, 1200 Anno Domini. Really, it's painful how many RPGs set up their world with the "present" being a medieval stasis that has lasted for thousands of years after the fall of the Great/Evil (a.k.a. Roman) Empire with half or more of the kingdoms being direct analogues to real world counterparts. Bioware has made zero secret of the fact that Fereledn = England, Orlais = France, Tevinter = Rome, etc. The Qunari as a... philosophy are less than subtly based on a Westerner's shallow understanding of the breadth of far Eastern religion, philosophy and ethics. [justplainoldtrolling]The fact that the "race" is a bunch of big grey ogres is just a testament to the base nature of Canadians as a people (yeah, keep worshipping that god-queen of yours, have fun imagining a future in which Canada is the center of human civilization i.e. ME.) America really needs to get a new hat.[/justplainoldtrolling] ....
  8. I'm sure you'll have fun, Skyrim isn't lacking in content and compared to Oblivion it almost doesn't need mods at all. I'd definitely install the Unofficial Skyrim Patch though, so many little annoyances fixed A mod to make dragon fights harder is a necessity. I can only think of two off-hand, one added a bunch of rainbow dragon otherkin garbage and 25235mb of irrelevant garbage, so I never downloaded that. The one I got took things a bit too far and gave every dragon the ability to use Alduin's meteor shower shout (with buffed damage, totally ignoring player level,) as well as summoning other dragons for support. It also causes their wingflaps and landings to make you go flying and ragdoll. It's fun when it's not ludicrously murdering every NPC in every town with a hail of meteorites. I wish there was a mod to make Delphine killable would be the ultimate 10/10 best mod ever for Skyrim.
  9. I'm pretty sure they made every character in the world of DA2 bisexual so that they'd have all bases covered and nobody could complain (except the people with functioning brain cells who figured out that it's astronomically unlikely that Hawke would be a vortex that attracts bisexuals in a mevievalesque RPG, in total ignorance of the fact that the only people who could get away with homosexual behavior were kings and people close in noble rank to kings.) I'm actually curious as to what it is about Bioware games that so strongly attracts the LGBT community such that it is, for all intents and purposes, their primary audience. Sure their promo material is all White Male Shaved Head 5 O'Clock Shadow SPESS MUHREEN protagonist, but we all know 90%+ of their fanbase is not white male tree-trunk necked bulging-vein steroid abusers/lovers of that particular character archetype. Was it the Squidgirls from Mass Effect? I still feel like Japan pulled that off better.
  10. In a thread that's just begging for trolling/flamebaiting like this one, it's important to give it your all. Chris Avellone should only write romances from now on.
  11. They should call this the "Make the World Cringe Contest 2014"
  12. Who? You should quote a post if you're responding to it. That said, I went to the great trouble of looking at the previous page and saw a post about Merill from DA2 at the bottom of the page, so I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt and assuming you were referring to that post. In which case I'd respond with the argument that Merill's writing is so ****ty and all over the place that it doesn't matter. Half the time she doesn't understand the most obvious sarcasm and half the time she knows exactly what the subtext of a subtle statement is (to the point of specifically noting a statement being "sarcasm.") There's no consistency whatsoever. She looks like a ****ing navi and sounds like a middle aged welsh woman. There's not much childish about her. Naivety, ignorance, excessive self-confidence and sheer stupidity are not limited to children. Listen to me, I should know, I'm an American. And poor interpersonal skills = children? So over half the members of every internet forum related to anything nerdy are children whose sexual partners are pedophiles now? I'm not even going to touch that "bad with socializing = autism" garbage, by the by. Dating sims are a dead genre that didn't have any adult content to begin with. Most VNs are made in such a way that sex scenes are throwaways that allow the product to be easily ported to consoles/adapted into mainstream televised anime/etc. without anything lost, as hard as that may be for you to believe. e.g. Fate/stay night
  13. By the liberalized/westernized minority, not by the slum-dwelling masses or those who engage in it. If South Africa is a socially progressive country then I'm God and I made South Africa a socially liberal nation.
  14. Incidentally replaying Order of Ecclesia (one of the best, if not the best, Drac fights in the series' history,) wishing Shanoa was the protagonist of 10+ more games. Setting up a funerary procession for 2D CV. We'll be lighting a pyre and screaming "IGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" at the top of our lungs when the clock strikes midnight.
  15. If that's what we're doing... Stand back guys, I've got this. My favorite RPG is Angry Birds. Activision is at the cutting edge of originality, creativity and artistic freedom in the gaming industry. Saving the best for last.
  16. Nukige =/= romance. There's no need for romance when you can have adventure. To quote a man beloved by the gods: "I don't like slugs, because you can't eat them. I once ate a slug on a survival trip and got sick for a week."
  17. A well-stocked liquor cabinet in the billiard room. The head of a large African mammal mounted on the wall couldn't hurt, either. Nor could a commission from the British East India Company. Handlebar moustache: +1 CHA (set bonus if paired with mutton chops.) Quality cigars: +1 CHA Wearing black tie attire as casual clothing: +3 CHA Hindoo manservant: +2 CHA
  18. Well, this dead horse still has the vague shape and smell of a dead horse, so we might as well keep battering it until it becomes a fine reddish-brown paste. I wonder if maggots can live off a liquid diet. Anyway: Good writing. That's all there is to it. All of the qualities which one might say defines a "good character" fall under the umbrella of "good writing."
  19. "Spirit-shift" doesn't sound conceptually like it'd be the same thing as "shape-shift." If a spirit is an immaterial, formless entity, the "shape" doesn't matter. The XYZ dimensions of its perceived visual representation need not have anything to do with the nature or identity of the spirit/soul itself. Since you used the term "persona," it brings to mind the game series of the same name, whose titular "persona" powers are based on the Jungian definition of "persona." Shapeshifting in PoE doesn't seem to be following suit.
  20. This is a surprise to you? I was initially surprised that the majority was European, but then I remembered all my firsthand experiences with Americans, as an American.
  21. For people who've stated they don't like/want DA:I, there sure is a lot of chatter about it going on here.
  22. The fact that you're even entertaining the idea that the masses of Africa are friendly to the concept of homosexuality would be laughable if it weren't so sad. Africa is as backwards as continents get. This is a landmass where people are still regularly burned alive for witchcraft. In Africa's most westernized/"civilized" country, South Africa, "corrective rape" of lesbians is commonplace.
  23. nVidia doesn't call it mid level. That would be a 750. The amount of memory and the data rate of the RAM isn't what ultimately determines power and performance, it's the GPU. This circumstance also depends on what you're trying to do with it. While the specs on nVidia's site say it supports DX11 and can draw at resolutions up to 2560x1600, it doesn't say it can do that with games that utilize DX11 to its potential, at full resolution with post-processing effects, or that you'd be able to get a workable framerate out of that. I'm not even touching the subject of AA and SSAO, that'd be like talking about how fast a Pinto reaches escape velocity. Maybe you can crank everything up to the max if you lower the resolution to 320x240.
  24. You're talking up Bethesda's outstanding achievement of F3 yet you admit to downloading a mod to rectify horrible writing/design decisions which form a part of the whole which you previously praised unconditionally.
