  1. I think New Game+ has no place in a role-playing game. There should absolutely not be any exclusive content locked away in a New Game+ mode. The incentive to create a new game should be diverse classes that offer a range of customization in how you build them, and lots and lots of choices with far-reaching consequences. And starting a new game with your level 20 (speculative) character would just be pointless, as you take away progression. Obsidian would have to up the difficulty of the whole game and rebalance everything for levels 20-30 (speculative) for this second playthrough - and this would just be a waste of time and resources better spent on choices, their consequences, and character build customization.
  2. Which raises the question to why such a person is playing this game in the first place. I'm all for achievements if: There are no pop-ups and they're only tracked on some stats page Theres no more than 10 of them They are actual achievements, like "Beat the game without killing a thing" and not for ridiculous stuff like beating the tutorial mission ( ) or completing the game Since I have never seen achievements done like I described, and since I most likely never will, I voted no.
  3. Ah yes. This crap. You think yourself clever by coming up with a perfectly logical solution to a problem, which hasn't been presented to you in the game. But alas, the developers won't have any of it and decide to force you into getting by the obstacle their way. Indeed, it has to go. If the developers did it on purpose because they though it was good game design, then they have change their stance on the matter and put that extra work in to make sure logical solutions work. If they just let these things slip by and would've corrected them (either by re-designing the obstacle, or preferably, by working in the non-presented logical clever solution) if they had more time to go through and error-check their game, then here's to hoping Obsidian take their time with Project Eternity to sort out as many weaseling game mechanics as possible. (I would guess the LucasArts rush was the reason for the Jekk'Jekk Tarr poison inconsistency in KotOR 2, but it could've slipped by even if they hadn't been rushed, if they didn't check through the game good enough.) Imagine if Mira ("that chick") would have tried some other tactic to knock you out if you were wearing a gas mask. Or if she was stupid (which she isn't) and wondered how you could still be standing, which would give you the chance to answer with a humorous dialogue option describing how gas masks work. Since the above event and its outcome is needed to keep the story going, it would work even better when you for example try to apprehend/kill a gangster boss hiding in his fortified hideout. You learn from some not so obvious information source that the gangster boss uses an electrical trap to immobilize attackers. So you aquire some electric resistance before you go to him, leading to an easier fight than you would've had otherwise, or perhaps even the chance to skip some subsection where you have to turn off his electric generators or something. Small things like this makes us players feel smart and rewards logical thinking that goes beyond simply following the quest objectives in your journal. I really hope they bring some of these clever solutions into Project Eternity.
  4. Everything was great, except the low resolution. Very hard to make out the text. Luckily MCA's narrating gave some context. As for the game itself: I love Virgil, what a silly man. :D
  5. Yes! YES! I pledge to sacrifice my firstborn in MCA's honor if this goes through. The events of the game doesn't have to decide the fate of the galaxy, now does it? It can decide the fate of a planet, a city, a space station, a character... whatever they want us to invest time in and get attached to.
  6. Aye. The thousand year old prophecy of the Chosen One I can do without. Luckily, I'm 99% sure that Obsidian have stated that you're a victim of circumstance in this story.
  7. Since I couldn't come up with a good concept for a god even if my life depended on it, I'll just say this: Make sure your gods are memorable and distinctive from one another. Creating 50 gods that have almost no unique qualities or interactions will just assure that the memories of most of them drift into oblivion. On the other hand, creating less than 10 gods would be a waste of potential as you could surely create at least double that number of gods and make them all distinctive and memorable given enough effort. And I'm not at all worried that you guys at Obsidian can't pull this off - quite the opposite.
  8. This is what all games should strive for. Finality and completeness are so mainstream! Rip out the final page of the script and sell it as DLC, that will be revolutionary and forever make Obsidian the Gods of Game Developers for all gamers.
  9. If Avellone gets his hand on the Star Wars license to write another game (be it KotOR III or set anywhere else in the timeline), I'd die a happy man.
  10. Persuasion. I always love the opportunity to talk enemies down instead of cutting them down. Of course. A smooth talker shouldn't be a master craftsman and master pickpocket as well.
  11. Yeah, me too. Sounds more fun than "You can pick this lock" or "You can't pick this lock" with nothing inbetween. Yes, an improvement over KotOR where Security was (if I recall correctly) absolutely pointless! For P:E, lockbashing would add yet another way of opening a chest, at the expense of some of the items inside. And the problem with bashing open doors could be solved by making locked doors sturdy enough that you can't bash them open. That would make more sense too - why would someone lock a weak door in a dungeon if a trespasser can simply break the door down?
  12. Call me when using a few exits in a dungeon causes all enemies in that dungeon to explode and drop dead. Until then, don't spit out a moronic argument and call it "logic" Ingame effect doesn't matter. Pretending something doesn't exists never restores broken immersion. Thus an argument "You don't like it - you don't use it" is useless. Why would I not use something? More importantly, why would my character not use something that he will use at the heartbeat? Am I forced to choose between metagaming and breaking immersion? I think not. And if not, "don't use it" is not a valid argument. Yes, the argument is really weak. If you had the options to choose whether you want "Easy exits from large dungeons" or "Fast travel" in options and difficulty settings before you start the game, I could see stuff like this work. But only if the game is designed and balanced so it's enjoyable to play it without the easy-mode options toggled on, or else you'll end up like Don't want to fast-travel? Then don't use it! Kinda hard when there's only 5 or 8 fast-travel stations in the world, horses are slow as snails, and there's no way to fortify your walking speed. Don't want to make your own Daedric armor at level 6, a few hours into the game? Then don't! The only other way is to level up to like 40 (level-scaled loot, yay!) and hope to find it randomly in dungeon loot. And since there's no difference between Forsworn loot and common bandit loot, it's better to continuously raid the same bandit forts again and again. Don't want to use the hilariously overpowered and unbalanced skills Alchemy, Enchanting and Smithing? Then don't! So I'm supposed to skip 16% of all the skills in the game because a company is unable to balance their own game? It's like if Jedi Academy presented you the premise that you could play with either blasters or the lightsabers and be just as effective. Don't like the lightsaber? Don't use it! It wouldn't be the game's fault when you're unable to defeat your first Cultist of Ragnos. Or if Kyle Katarn offered you some Nuka-Cola and the honor of testing the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device during your Jedi training. It's completely optional! Don't like it, don't use it! It's not Raven Software's fault for not putting these things under a clown-mode toggle, it's your fault for wanting balance and immersion.
  13. Indeed. I wouldn't mind some sexualized characters, but when 90% of women look like models and fight in sexualized and ridiculous armor, something is wrong.
  14. It's all but confirmed, we knew far in advance that the first DLC was gonna be called Dawnguard and have crossbows and new vampire stuff from looking through the game files. I'm hoping for at least some kind of magical teleport-thingy up there. If they've built their tower(s) with stairs, more reason for me to persuade my brother to play Morrowind, to show him how a REAL Telvanni mushroom tower is supposed to look like. Apachii Hair (more and more custom NPCS/followers are using it by default and may crash if not installed) Caliente Female body mod (CBEE) Caliente's Vanilla Clothing for CBBE Better Elven Armor (better recoloring) Steel Dwarven Armor (ditto elf armor) Bella's Better Females Realistic Female Face Skin HD If you are looking for eye candy followers: Girls of Skyrim (plus the patch) Also download the free hi res textures DLC from steam That covers all the basics most everyone uses I first laughed at your sarcastic and humorous post, "Must have-mods", good one! And then I realized you were serious.
  15. doa took 6 years Out of curiosity, what is DOA? At first I thought he meant Dragon Age: Origins and simply misspelled the acronym. You're not talking about Dead or Alive, are you? :D
  16. I initially pledged $25. Then I hurt myself really bad two days ago and felt like I wanted to give Obsidian more money than a measly amount of hundrasextio riksdaler. So I upped the pledge by $20, for the expansion. Then I noticed I bled like hell so I thought, "Why not open the door? Get some fresh air" and in the doorway was a dark clad gentleman. Of course, he looked like a gentleman until he drew the gun. I begged for something to stop the bleeding, but he just said "Pledge another $8 and join the Obsidian Order of Eternity, or you can kiss this life good bye!". I could barely see Sawyer smiling under that hood when he shot me twice in my legs. I had to crawl back to my win 98 desktop and pledge another $8. So I finished at a total of $53. Tthis is still very cheap compared to other games. I felt I could do it even though I don't have a job or any money. Soon I'll have no blood left either Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah%27s_Witnesses_and_blood
  17. Meh. So there won't be a Pepsi ad in this game after all? Revoking my pledge and Obsidian Order status immediately.
  18. I like the idea of limited healing in the world, even though magic is common. Makes grave wounds and diseases more of a threat. I also dig the interest/fear of necromancy and the theories on souls, death and life. Soul Tear - Your Thu'um cuts through flesh and shatters soul, commanding the will of the fallen. My Thu'um does waaaat? Oh, Skyrim...
  19. I just upped my pledge! I've chosen the 25$ tier, then added 20$ for the expansion and 8$ for the Order, with the total pledge being 53$. Have I done everything right? Here's my Kickstarter profile: http://www.kickstart...rofile/61866363 I'd like to be Shadow Assassin of the Obsidian Order.
