  1. Everything but worldwide misogyny, really. I like conflicts, discrimination and hatred as it makes for a more interesting world. But I prefer there to be no default misogyny in fantasy settings, as seen in Star Wars and the Elder Scrolls. I'd like to see societies where female are deemed superior, and societies where men are deemed superior. But for most of the world I'd like to see gender equality. There are enough versions of the "female warrior disguises herself as a man and proves her worth, then removes her disguise, showing everyone that women are just as capable as men!"-scenario already. I'd rather have that as status quo from the start. Even though people of high rank are still more likely to be men in such a world, there's at least possible for you to meet a ruler that makes you say "Wow, the ruler is a woman!".
  2. Jag kan inte tala engelska. Översätt till svenska, annars så kidnappar jag Chris Avellone och sätter på honom betongskor och släpper av honom i Östersjön!!!
  3. Pootis penser here.
  4. That would actually be quite cool. But if the deities (or, plot twist!: the simply extremely powerful mortals masquerading as gods) wield god-level powers and are impossible to locate, the atheist movement would be a short-lived affair. And as I suspect that the deities of this world will have those powers, I doubt we'll see any crusading atheists in Project Eternity.
  5. Your argument, that we should trust Obsidian (as opposed to voice our worries or criticism, I take it?), makes me think of . We've already trusted Obsidian with out money, are we not entitled to raise our concerns about the project? Obsidian doesn't need you to defend them. And if you can't accept that people voice their concerns, who's overreacting?
  6. Yes, I'd like to see different responses from the world depending on your gender. Just as I'd like to see different responses depending on your race, your subrace, your class and your earlier actions in the world. No. Let's not go there. No matter the execution, this would cause a ****storm of epic proportions. No, just no..... Please don't go there. Some things just don't have a place, this is one of them. I don't get it. Why does this have to be treated as such a taboo subject? Murder, torture, racism, genocide good. Rape bad! I find this ridiculous. No. HELL NO, especially if by 'certain actions' you mean the vicious and violent crime that is forced upon approximately 1 in 6 women? Are you honestly so crass as to want them to be reminded of this when they're playing a game, something that should be safe? I'd rather not be reminded. And if you'd 'like to see' this, even within a game... then I worry about your future. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!! What about assault victims? They are reminded of the brutal crime they've suffered in every single fantasy RPG in existance. Should Obsidian remove all types of violence as well? Screw all the interesting stuff that could be achieved with an M rating and the lack of a supervising publisher. Let's botch the idea of a rapist noble (whose existance makes you boil of anger and makes you want nothing more than to hunt down and end this filthy excuse of a person), remove an Elf faction guilty of genocide against Dwarves (which would certainly make things more interesting if you play as an Elf or a Dwarf), and cut a quest where the questgiver makes fun of religion (or agnosticism/atheism!). Because this could offend someone!
  7. In this kind of game? Mostly if not completely on character skill. Forcing the player to click at the right moment would just feel like an insult after spending an eternity on molding your character's skills/abilities/spells/gear/tactics.
  8. If we hit this stretch mark (which we probably will) it's important that they don't go overboard with this. Nothing like Skyrim where you can use crafting and enchanting to create the best gear in the game with ease (because screw encouraging dungeon delving!). If we really can upgrade "humble" weapons to "legendary" power, it has to be extremely costly. I'm probably reading into this one sentence too much, but the words used kinda scare me.
  9. I just finished the College of Winterhold questline in Skyrim. I'm completely dumbfounded. This feels like one of the dumbest things I've ever played. The Mages Guild in Oblivion wasn't amazing, but at least it quickly gave you a purpose to strive for: The College of Winterhold was just laughably bad. The College members came off as idiots, and The more I play Skyrim, the lower my rating of it becomes. I just want to get everything over with at this point. Skyrim has the potential to be such a great game, and in some areas I think it is, but it fails in so many other ways it's mind-boggling and laughable.
  10. 471(!) hours in on this character and I'm still playing Skyrim. It may be that , but I still have quests to complete and dungeons to clear in this open-world action/stealth house decoration simulator with RPG elements. Right now I'm playing through the College of Winterhold and I don't really know why I should even care for these idiots or what my goal is, but the appearences of the have been interesting, if only for lore reasons in the latter's case. I occasionally return to my Solitude house to continue my work on filling two cauldrons with jewels. https://dl.dropbox.c...09-02-30-88.jpg I've also started up Borderlands 2 but that's currently on hold as I had this current Skyrim relapse.
  11. A really small coastal town (a "locality" according to Wikipedia) in Uppland, Sweden.
  12. As long as the obscuring blood splatter stays on the screen for at least 1 minute, I'm in.
  13. Make it one of the choosable variables in Expert Mode.
  14. I'm 19! Favourite RPG of all time: KotOR 2 Favourite linear action RPG: Mass Effect 2 (Please don't kill me!) Favourite non-linear action RPG: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Forgive my abhorrent and blasphemous ways!), with Oblivion and Morrowind close behind PS. I recently bought Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape: Torment on GOG, so I'll get to know what all the fuss is about with the IE games! :D
  15. I'd rather have an XP system where you're rewarded for completing stuff and killing enemies, rather than a TES style of skill progression. The latter usually leads to grinding while I think the former is much more faultless and thus more enjoyable. That said, I do think the "use sword, raise Blade Skill" skill progression works better in an open-world, non-linear house decoration simulator like TES V: Skyrim.
  16. I agree. If the numbers are hidden (both the current influence score and the increase/decrease popups) it will feel much more natural (see #1). You will get to feel how companions think of you, whether it's clear as crystal or more obscured (see #2). #1 Treat a companion like dirt? After a while she starts to greet you more and more bitterly. Be nice to a cranky companion? He's still a prick to everyone else, but when talking to you he develops a normal tone. With hints like this, coupled with the fact that the player should remember which companions he's been friendly or unfriendly to, the whole influence/friendship part of companions will feel much more natural and less like you're simply manipulating these pieces of data for some reward. It would also be nice if companions started out with different opinions of you based on their personality as well as your character's class/race/background. A former reclusive might start out with a lower opinion of you than the other companions just because that's how he is - and if you're an Elf he'll start out even lower because of his racist views. #2 Say one companion is a noble and harmonic knight. Or he may have been schooled as one, but may not live up to that expectation all the time. Anyway, that is what is expected of him. So when you insult his political and religious views, his opinion of you drops to resentment. But because of his schooling, he does not show it in any way. Perhaps you'll only see his true opinion of you in some stressful situation where his facade breaks down for a moment, and if you're an observant player, you'll notice that he actually hates you and so you make up a plan to increase his opinion of you the next chance you get - if it's even possible at this point...
  17. KotOR 2 brought me here and made me back this project. It's probably my favourite RPG of all time and it made me take a liking to Obsidian. I haven't played any other Obsidian games nor the (relatively) old Infinity Engine games (yet), but I've heard a lot of good things about them so I thought why the hell not back the project?
  18. It means our character was born with the soul of a dragon, courtesy of the Ni- Eight Divines!!! It's like Dragon Age 4! DOVAHKIIN, DOVAHKIIN, NAAL OK ZIN LOS VAHRIIN, WAH DEIN VOKUL MAHFAERAAK AHST VAAL! AHRK FIN NOROK PAAL GRAAN FOD NUST HON ZINDRO ZAAN, DOVAHKIIN, FAH HIN KOGAAN MU DRAAL! Don't you agree on that this is the most likely scenario?
  19. Player choices should definitely lock you out from/give you access to certain story elements. Your playthrough will be shorter, true - but it's worth it when you start a new character and experience new content that you didn't see on your last playthrough. Exclusive content based on choice makes your choices more important, as well as gives you a good reason to play through the game again. I think it really improves the experience as opposed to letting the player do everything in one playthrough (like in Skyrim).
  20. I'm all for romances (hetero, homo, bi, whatever). I'm also for the option to sleep with scantily clad tavern wenches that shows lots of cleavage, which could start a quest where you search for a cure for Elf AIDS.
  21. The gift system is actually not all that unrealistic. I know that I'd be pretty happy if someone would just randomly gift me a lot of stuff. To a certain degree, of course. If you were a jew party member and the PC is Hitler 2.0 that just burnt down the Warzaw ghetto (with the residents still inside), I doubt his obvious attempts at manipulation by giving you loads of fruit baskets will succeed and make you like him. But then, such extreme actions in RPG's tend to make your party member leave your party anyway, so I guess my point is kinda moot...
  22. Yes, it would be nice to see an advanced and mutli-faceted influence system. Indeed. While I like the idea of giving a companion gifts, they should in most cases be rare and not be obviously listed as "gift items". If there are gifts in the game, they should actually mean something, and not just be trinkets you buy in bulk from a vendor and throw at your companions. Also, all the gifts in the world shouldn't be able to sway a character who hates your guts for your orphan-murdering ways. EDIT: Also, I'd prefer not having a visible affection meter. Let the characters themselves show how much they like/hate you. Indeed, it would be ridiculous if you could bribe your way to friendship with your companion who is a follower of religion A, just minutes after you've set their holy site on fire on the order of religion B. Also, with the majority of the dialogue being text and not voiced dialogue, it should be easy for Obsidian to write lots of companion dialogue that expresses their attitude towards you or other things. I liked the idea behind it in KotOR 2, but I would prefer it to be much more forgiving. I had one conversation with Visas and couldn't talk to the Last Handmaiden anymore. Yes, or at least Obsidian has to make it clear that your action is going to have such a harsh consequence - not by flashing a giant warning sign over a certain dialogue option, but by having characters express themselves in a manner that makes it clear what their mood and opinion of you are (so they won't suddenly change from "in love with you" to "hates your guts" after a seemingly non-offensive dialogue option). Good news. This is a staple in Black Isle/Obsidian games. There's a very good chance you will see them in PE. That is great! And this is from today's $1,5 million blog post update: It's just a sentence and doesn't give any details, but it sounds promising!
