  1. Hero's Quest 1: So You Want to Be a Hero Otherwise known as Quest for Glory
  2. When I decided I wanted to get into the gaming industry, I expected crunch time in the last couple months of development, because thats what I was told it was like. When the EA thing broke and it turned out crunch time was the entire development cycle for some games, it nearly made me re-think getting into games, as EA is the largest employer for 3d artists in the Greater Vancouver area. (I believe they currently employ something like 1400 people, probably 40% or more being artists)
  3. Then you must hate Robert Jordan <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heheh, thats exactly who I was thinking of when I wrote that.
  4. When it comes to writing style, I like everything to have a point. Description should be there to bring the reader into the world, not to fill space.
  5. The little grope at the end was a nice touch.
  6. Personally I'd like to see Iridonia and Corellia.
  7. I think he described it as Pac-Man meets Populous meets Civilization. My only worry here is that if its as versatile as it looks, couldn't it put a lot of artists out of work?
  8. Well, according to the article, you design what things look like, he designed his stuff to look cartoony, you can design yours so its not. Anyway, I so want this game. I'm curious to hear what the devs think about how this technology could be applied to RPGs.
  9. Mine tends to be Atton and Bao-Dur, Atton and Visas, or Atton and Mira.
  10. In Kotor 1 it seemed out of character for Jolee to fight against me when I went darkside.
  11. Yeah, I know. I'm in Vancouver at the moment, and pretty much everyone here makes sports games except Relic. I really don't care where I start, I just eventually want to get into making RPGs, and the pickings for that sort of thing is pretty small up here. Bioware is pretty much it. And Thanks Feargus.
  12. http://www.NCIX.com is good if you're canadian too. Especially if they have a retail outlet nearby so you don't have to get it shipped. Friend of mine got a hard drive there for around 40 bucks less than future shop, for a better HD than Future Shop was selling.
  13. All the furniture in my apartment is now couches. My desk is now a couch, my lamps are couches, my tables are couches. Its annoying because now I can't get to my computer. In the game that is...
  14. Thats pretty much the story of the first one. An unknown evil is destroying worlds and you escape the destruction of yours and go on a quest to find your friends, protect the existing worlds, and hopefully restore the destroyed ones. I'm definitely looking forward to this, since the first was so good.
  15. Apparently they're using copies of the comics as storyboards. Thats how close.
  16. Exile only comments on knowing the mother once Kreia has told the Exile about her the exile didnt actually no her. Kreia could be the Handmaidens mother, Kreia said Arren Kae was beautiful, Atton said Kreia was beautiful once, darkside makes Kreia look old. Kreia could hav Trained REvan under her name Arren Kae and then as Traya (perhaps shes the betrayer because she betrayed the jedi beliefs by falling in love and having a baby) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I got the conversation point with Handmaiden without Kreia saying anything.
  17. I wonder what attracts people to anime. Is it for the "beautiful" eyes... ...or is there another reason? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For the most part, Anime tends to have better stories than north american animation, mostly due to the ongoing nature rather than episodic nature. I'm really sick of the art style and crappy animation though. And the entertaining ones with the good story are rarely put on TV over here, and when they are they're generally horribly dubbed and edited, such as Escaflowne. If they did the new He-Man cartoon with an ongoing story, I'm sure it would have been as popular as most anime too. Its a shame no one watched it, it was probably the best afternoon cartoon on the air.
  18. Curse me for finding that humorous. But I already knew I was a horrible person.
  19. Cake and Rise Against. I have 4 Cake albums and 3 Rise Against albums on shuffle.
  20. It would be nice if a developer in Vancouver made RPGs, but except for Relic, they all make sports or racing games. If I chose any though, it would be either Bioware or Obsidian.
  21. Not all, the sniper remenbered. Also it was explained that it was caused by GF junction. Besides it was done so Edea looked to be the main enemy even if the game hints that Edea part is not what it seens. It come all together in the end ... do you realize who Squall parents are? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, Laguna is his dad. It may all come together, but that doesn't make it good.
  22. You have to say though, that Lucas Blight was one bad mother****er. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He is the most evil character in any game I've seen I think. I just really hated the whole FF8 story. The whole "Oh every character in the game used to be in the same orphanage, we just forgot" thing was freaking stupid, and the villain seriously needed to interact with you before you fought her. Ultimecia is just the worst villain I've ever seen in a game.
  23. Heres a question for Feargus or someone else in the higher levels of OE. How would a non-american, Canadian specifically, go about getting a job in an american company? I've heard its really hard and the recruiters that came to VFS pretty much didn't bother with anyone who didn't have US citizenship or a university degree.
  24. Sadly, no. I live in Bakersfield, CA and many of the people who live on my side of town are low income and/or farmers (surprisingly I am niether). My high school mostly focuses on FFA (Future Farmers of America) and Agiculture (?) clases. Its EXTREAMLY sad that there arent really any real computer classes to take except Computer Into (learning how to type) and a few levels of Com Apps. (but that itself is just teaching you how to use things like Microsoft Word, Power Point, etc.). I did get expelled from school though because me and my friends arent excaclty the smartest people when it comes to common sence (but thats another story). Now the school I go to will have a class once a week to do things with photographs on the computer - not exactly sure what though. It hasnt started yet but when it does it only 2 hour classes once a week (the school is pretty much an "independent suties" kinda school) for 6-8 weeks. I know its not going to be the best stuff but it will give me a start. *sigh* On the side of town I live on there is no high school with the clases I want to take thats why I was asking so that I could try to take some courses outside of school. I dont exactly feel like driving 30 min every day (when im 16 anyway which isnt very far away ) or spending 2 hours on the bus just to get to school everyday. This town sucks , Im starting to think that I wont be able to get a start with it untill college and I really want to learn some things now since I only go to school once (maybe twice) a week now.... I need something to occupy my mind before it turns into mush <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you want to get started now, just check out the free versions of the programs that various companies give out, like gmax, or avid's free version of XSI. Then look up some tutorials. To be honest, thats about as much of an education you'd get if you took the classes in high school. At least thats what I got. It was pretty sad really. I learned more in the first 2 weeks at VFS than during my 10 or so months I took in high school.
