  1. properly drawn portraits all the way. i wasn't asking for closeups of 3d models. i also wasn't asking for portraits to be animated; i was asking for the possibility of animated portraits.
  2. true, no one's gonna suffer for having to have doubled pixels on 300 ppi display, but calling this progress whacky is just unimaginative... LCDs are finally! - after 10 years of devolving to stagnation - catching up to CRTs. p.s. i'd say 1920x1080 resolutions are so popular for the same reason communist party is so popular in china - there's hardly anything else to choose from*. *in the sub $400 range** **talking about the monitor prices here
  3. this game will be rendered in parallel projection. things there stay of the same size regardless of where in space they are. there is no horizon line*. *or rather - it's in the infinity - *ba dum tsss*
  4. borderless window mode would be a better solution. (like the source engine games and mass effect 3) otherwise, if it's hidden. (like a pop-up when hoovering over pause button (if there is one))
  5. as far as i know obsidians haven't declared (because i think they don't even know yet) how the linux version will be distributed. gog version is confirmed though, and i'd be very surprised if they weren't supporting linux by 2014.
  6. prety much this. except that i wouldn't restrict inventory access, i'd just unpause the game when searching through it (the way bg1 did).
  7. that's why i'm comparing implemented spell varieties and not the whole systems. i'm not much of a speculative person, but i'd take nwn2's enchanter wizard, or any kind of bard, over bg2's any day (and not because of the class differences). that's why i've said comparing them out of specific context is rather pointless. i'm all for huge lists of unique and unorthodox spells. i hope we get them. but i also think that some spells can be missed if it means having wider build options (not like these two things are mutually exclusive - rather the opposite. it's just that Your "poll's illustrations" makes them seem like they are).
  8. nwn2 has many problems, but spell variety isn't one of them. it's implementation of 3ed spell system is considerably more flexible than bg2's ad&d attempt. but fundamentally, they're both d&d. i'd say comparing them, out of very specific context, is rather pointless.
  9. |-------|* *scale not to scale
  10. fresh from replaying ps:t i know it's about a millennium old (give or take a few centuries). i have no doubt that p:e will have it better. but this can't be stressed enough: real time games (even with pause) need good path finding. that is all.
  11. it's old, but: quality over quantity. if the map points were to be as thought out as bg2's were, i'd be quite content with a bg1 sized map. that's not to say that some of the wild areas in bg1 were not fun, and were missed in bg2, the proportion felt wrong in both games.
  12. i'm not in favour of locking a player out of / into certain places with just area design. i don't think it's necessary, it's just more convenient. for the most part difficulty should keep player out of tougher dungeons and areas, and suspense or some other sense of urgency should keep player locked on the end goal. the two big cities could be presented similarly to rival camps from Ghotic, where throughout the game player deals with them all, but by the end ends up favouring one of them,or walking the thin line between their politics. the megadungeon i've always pictured akin to Dorn's Deep from Icewind Dale: a few semi-linear dungeon-ish areas with a few transitional areas in between.
  13. don't think about the event.
  14. Crime and Punishment doesn't count; all the lore was already made?
  15. somewhat narcissistic and completely non-crucial feature. but it would be totally awesome.
  16. will black screens or naked portraits* add anything significant to the game? i think no. more likely they would cheapen it and take away it's credibility as adult entertaining game**. _________________ *how would that even work? **putting M ratings or (adult only) appendages to things rarely means they will be more entertaining for adults.
  17. no need to thank me. i know i've participated for completely selfish reasons. (;
  18. Actually, it doesn't. It means you have to play it in the linear order predestined by the Developers, with no hope of ever doing anything outside of that order. Now, the only way to do a level 10 quest, is to do the level 5 quests, you have no other option. It reduces choice, introduces pure linearity, reduces any reward for entering into combat, and much no sense at all. does not compute.
