Obsidian partners with a publisher for PoE
That's what I thought too ($65.00 and up tiers). From everyone elses reaction I guess that's not the case. I wonder how much the box copy will cost retail. Has to be $65.00 or higher, right? it's from the eurogamer's article:

Obsidian partners with a publisher for PoE
why is hiring someone to handle Your shipping bad? why should a game developer bother with it, if someone else can do it [better]? where do You draw the line then? You've opened with the statement, that this project is doomed, because a publisher got involved, and publisher = bad. publishers aren't bad. publishers, that subjugate the inegrity of the game and it's developers to the maximized monetary gain, are bad -- because they subjugate the inegrity of the game and it's developers to the maximized monetary gain. publishers, that manage the printing, translations, shipping, etc., so that the developers don't have to chop down trees to make the paper, are good.

Too combat-focused?
that would be more the domain of the encounter design and scripting, wouldn't it? i mean if You have option to bypas certain obstacles, because You chose to play a certain class, i imagine it's easier (and less restrictive) to implement it individually for each such encounter, rather than come up with a systemic solution that covers all the encounters. what i want to say is, that non-violent solutions will probably be class-independent, and that's why they're not talked about in class-speciffic updates.

Pillars of Eternity – Partnership FAQ for Backers
given the Obsidian's [imo vastly exagerated and severely over-lingering] nefariousness for buggy games, and seeing how the paradox will be handling the QA: -will all of the QA be handled by Paradox? -if no, to what extent will it be performed by Obsidian? -if yes, how will this affect the procedures (efficiency, response time, etc.)?

No True Turn-Based?
personally, i'm more interested in seeing how the slow-down thingie will look in action (and i hope there'll be a choice between on/off toggle and while-key-down).

Update #74: The Mob Rulers: Wizards and Druids and our Partnership with Paradox
druids <3 on the other hand i'm noticing a distinct lack of direct CC spells like web, sleep, firewall, grease, hypnotism, dominate, etc. on the wizard's spell list. were they just left out? are they in someone else's domain?

"i" or "people" - last time i've checked i was one of the pople. either way it doesn't make any difference for the sake of the argument; let's say i'm not presumptuous enough to answer in someone else's name, so i asked "why would i want to play on windows?" Except that the user would have to take extra steps to set up Linux on their PC? Once it becomes an out-of-the-box product, then Linux would offer no drawback. For example, I can get in my car and drive to the store or I can build my car and then drive to the store. Sure they both work but one method is more difficult and prone to mistake. you presume that everyone has windows installed, and no one has linux installed. (also, you can get computers with linux pre-installed also #2, which OS is which in Your illustration? but before You answer that, think about why there are 3rd party application installers like this for windows, and why there are none for linux distributions.) 0/5 - too blunt and obvious (: You could learn from Gfted1; look, how craftily he's snuck the phrase "bother with [linux]" in there - as if it's a standard procedure!

i've asked: "why would i want to play on windows if i can play on linux?" You've answered with: "because there's no advantage to playing on linux." this does not answer my question, because You haven't told me if there are any disadvantages to playing games on linux. so i've asked myself: "are there any disatvantages to playing on linux?" and also answered myself: "for games that work on both OSes there are none. the decision, what to play those games on therefore comes down to the general OS preference."

please, don't shorten the quote, because You're likely to miss the point. a valid (non-rethoric) question would be: "^Because there are disadvantages to playing on Linux, maybe?" to which the answer would be: "specifically for playing games? probably none." quakes, counter-strikes, dotas, kickastrters, all the other games, that work natively on multiple OSes - in general their functionality is so OS independent, that the dilemma can be boiled down to general OS prefference (or individual game cases). which was kind of the point i was trying to get to, but had beaten about the bush a bit too much - the answer to BruceVC's question (and mine in return) would have nothing to do with games in general.

CTD at Clyde's Backyard Cut Scene
yup. the only bug i've seen in my plathrough was this game-crashing bug (but i've beaten Kyle instead of cartman). the game crashed every time the kids in the cut-scene got to the back door of Clyde's house. as a makeshift solution, You could try skipping the cut-scene in the game, and watch it on youtube (here's a link to the Kyle's defeat).

Adam at Work
another Adam works late thread! yay! have You come around to program the encounter AI yet? how advanced do You intend to make it? will it differ from creature to creature and/or culture to culture? will PC group vs NPC group encounters feature any special tactics? edit question: will AI take game difficulty into account?
