Romance & Companions wishes (NON-SPOILERS)
Wormerine replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Wasn’t Eric contracted to write Eder for Deadfire? I remember that being the thing.

Should Pillars add in beauty or renown stats for dialogue options or events?
Wormerine replied to bgi123's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)So... attractivenes stat? Defines physical, social and sexual attractiveness of your character, increasing positive reaction from NPCs, granting discount at shops and taverns, and increasing chance to get harassed/catcalled by a random NPCs. With high attractiveness all romances trigger as soon as you recruit a companion.

Romance & Companions wishes (NON-SPOILERS)
Wormerine replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)From all the characters Pallegina is the only one I could imagine my Watcher falling for. But I imagine it is precisely because she is not a romance type person. I might get conspiracy theory’sh here, but isn’t it curious that two companions who aren’t romancable are Pallegina (written by game director) and Eder (written by PoE1 narrative director). Just as if romances shouldn’t be part of the game? [if it wasn’t clear enough: I really dislike romances in Deadfire, and I am desperately looking for a justification to my feelings]

Grimoire - in Pillars of Eternity 2...
Wormerine replied to Tawmis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Sure, if you don’t want to manage your characer, more spells are not appealing. Still, for those who were fine with 4spells per level in PoE1 it’s no problem - pick spells on level up and a random grimoire and you have more spells than in PoE1. I for one prefer how they are done now - I have “core” spells which do what I want my wizard to do, and Grimoires to add extra stuff.

Why are half the companions trying to get in my pants?
My ship crew doesn't love me, they prefer to play Orlan's Head and the image they use looks strangely like my Watcher... Ha! I was so upset there was no special reaction for an orlan Captain.

Companion interactions
Wormerine replied to Yonjuro's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Considering how games is made, suddenly having bunch of unvoiced lines would stick out. Design was made, and I am afraid it can’t be undone just like that. Companions have quite a lot of content, just little meaningful one. I was surprised to find on YouTube how elaborate companion conflicts can be, alas high diplomacy skill and they are over really quickly, never to be heard of again. I don’t think adding more would fix an issue I have with companions, though I wish I could talk to them more at times.

Grimoire - in Pillars of Eternity 2...
Wormerine replied to Tawmis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That’s assuming that two or three spells you picked will be ones best suited to every situation. Aloth ended up switching between 3 Grimoires depending who he was facing. Couple features that would be greatly welcome: 1) renaming Grimoires - just allow me to rename it. I don’t always remember which one had which spells. 2) better feedback - when looking through a grimoire grey out spells I memorised, to easier judge how much it adds within a glance.

[POTD Difficulty] Launch NOT tuned discussion thread
Wormerine replied to Haran's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)And it was like that in IE games, the problem is that didn’t work. That’s why resting supplies were introduced. When you rest and get ambushed you either: 1) can handle the encounter and it’s annoying 2) you can’t so you reload. It is a mechanic which can work ONLY in a setting with perma death and no reloading. Just a note - it makes no sense to have no armor and weapons when ambushed. It’s an adventuring party, not a Holliday trip. It’s not like they put up a tend and change into pijamas.

[POTD Difficulty] Launch NOT tuned discussion thread
Wormerine replied to Haran's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Isn’t ther an Ironman mode like in PoE1, or did they remove it for now?

Heroes of Might and Magic?
Wormerine replied to Archaven's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I see little similarities - no army to command, no real resource gathering. Heroes world map is a board game, Were you move units around, gather resources explore, block, intercept enemies. PoE world map is still essentially an interactive menu, albeit with resource consumption.

Should Pillars add in beauty or renown stats for dialogue options or events?
Wormerine replied to bgi123's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yes! Having speperate charisma and beauty stat was something special. The thing is, Deadfire doesn’t do the combat/social mix for attributes. By current logic investing into beauty stat would either need to somehow contribute to combat, or would detract from effectiveness of your character. Deadfire isn’t really designed for creating combat or social oriented characters - they are always both.

He's alive! No...They're alive! ALIVE! ( ending mess up )
During Castol trial, I have option to tell Alvari that Furrante is dead.Yeah I know. I did too. But as the OP mentioned it doesn’t always work.

He's alive! No...They're alive! ALIVE! ( ending mess up )
I am pretty sure that the 2nd most influential faction will always show up to fight you (if you pick a side). It seems that devs didn’t take into account the most basic principle - assume that player will kill everyone.

Xoti Romance
Wormerine replied to drael6464's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)She tried to hop unto my Watcher love train before I even left Port Maje. That was before patch 1.0.2 though. I turned her down initially and had easy ways to resume relationships with every part of her lantern quest. I am curious now. Also hopefully, that “every one want ps to bang my Watcher” won’t be a thing anymore. Maybe your dispositions aren’t up to her standards? When I played it I had maxed out almost all dispositions quite early into the game.

Anyone else bothered by some story inconsistencies?
Yeah, there are quite a lot of those.

What did you think of the story?
Wormerine replied to DragonWiz's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)It depends what you mean by story. Factions are interesting and Deadfire is a neat setting. However, game lacks human element which would make we care about Deadfire as a place or a setting. I find it interesting, but More in a way I am currently reading Deadfire’s guidebook with interest, rather than a compelling story. This is why I still see White March as PoE’s best content to date. I cared about people in Stelward as its full of individuals I remember. I don’t care about Deadfire as it is filled with ideologies and “this quest guy” people. Now, probably what you really ask for - “the critical path story”. It’s too vague for me to care. Rather than expending the lore it raises more question and makes me question logic of that world. Maybe while they add some extra info (like what breaking of the wheel means!) i might like it a bit more. What I dislike the most, however, is stripping all urgency of your character. What Eothas does should be your mission (if you choose to accept it). As it stands, you just follow a dude, and watch him do stuff, as powerless gods bicker over how to stop him. I claimed on other threads than playing as new character, not Watcher, would serve the story better. But even as it is, I think story could have been much stronger if it played into the powerlessness of your character - you know what you know, but you can’t do anything. You can’t oppose Berath or you will die. You can’t reveal who Gods came to be because: A) who will believe/listen to you B) you might die. You can’t stop Eothas because, he might be a fake god, but he is a god nonetheless. You might have discovered a secret but you are powerless to act upon your knowledge. That might serve as a basis for understanding and link between you and Eothas - you can’t act, he can. Unfortunately, Deadfire plays into the “powerfantasy” much more than its precedessor. “Oh great Watcher”, “you have achieved that much”, “only you can do it: save the world, help faction”, “we just met and you make me wet, watcher”, “I am not worthy of you oh great Watcher, herald of berath” blah blah blah. That clashed a lot, with how useless you really are.

Are those 3 DLCs story set before or after ending?
New Vegas style seems like good bet. Especially, one of the expansions alesry has a quest chain leading up to it.

Longest Dungeon
Wormerine replied to Lótus Haddock's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Fuvlvano’s Voyage wasn’t replacement for Endless Paths, and it was confirmed sometime during the fig campaign. All of those locations are in, they are not connected by any single class quest. Two of them are smaller faction outposts. One of them is one of the deeper dungouns (3 levels?). Most dungeons are one screen big, no decending into hell Diablo style.

Unleash the hot takes on the ending of POE2
Wormerine replied to PatrioticChief's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Dislike on my part. The revelation of Gods nature is a big deal. How to approach that knowledge is a very interesting dilemma for the second game. Yet direction and action is made by the 3rd party. It also rings false to me - really, after all this time, now god decided to completely **** everything up. And why? I can’t think of other reason rather than - the player knows, we have to move forward, if we give him a choice we will end up with multiple completely different universes by the end of the game. The way they did it, we have pretty much a set world for the 3rd game. However, everything done in Deadfire feels hollow. It doesn’t matter which faction takes over. It doesn’t matter that you chase Eothas. Your journey didn’t influence anyone - not you, not your companions.

Game is so much better on 2nd playthrough.
Wormerine replied to Zeitzbach's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I thought game did a good job guiding through the content. I essentially moved between objectives which were given to me, exploring stuff I encountered in my way. Got a really coherent and structured experience that way. I will try the trick with rolling with 4 faction characters (I might create a wizard character then... hmmm). I had a lot of neutral characters in my 1st playthrough (Eder, Aloth, Xoti). Maybe that’s why they felt so disconnected from everything else.

Why do all the factions require me to be evil?
Wormerine replied to PatrioticChief's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Each of factions have its goals and ideals. You can agree with them, or not. I wouldn’t call allying with them “evil” as they generally have some greater good in mind. You might not be comfortable with their line of thinking and that’s fine. New Vegas had similar ideals which Republic and House being deeply flawed, however they went overboard with Legion. Killing legion was usually a good thing. As mentioned above, you don’t have to go all the way with each faction. If they ask for something you don’t like, do it your way. Of what they ask you for is too much, then go solo.

Ship Question...
Wormerine replied to Tawmis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I am pretty sure items like repair tools, cannon balls or medicine are lost if you gather/buy too much. Which is silly, at least they shouldn’t allow you to buy more than you can carry. Those seem to be the only items with limited carry limit, though to be honest I am not sure 100% why. I am pretty sure captain’s quarters and menagerie are purely cosmetic. You can equip them in two miscellaneous slots under lanter, stern, anchor slot. I remember there was some issue with having them register - if I remember well, dragging over didn’t work, I had to click and release on item and than hover over the slot and click again to have it being instal. Once it is done, you will have a much fancier cabin, and all pets in your stash will walk freely on your lower deck.

[Pets] Concelhaut and Nemnok appreciation thread
Wormerine replied to Aramintai's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Yes! Both would be delightful, if they would space their barks by... well... a lot.
