Grimoire Swapping in Combat
Wormerine replied to Jastiger's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Your amount of casts is character dependant. Grimoires only expand your available spells. There is a grimoire which gives you one additional cast per level.

End of content roadmap?
Wormerine replied to footy_'s topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It seems to be pretty much content complete. Devs are still working on some things (including one extra challange) but if there are any other changes beyond tweaks and patches is unknown. During recent stream they said that they will clearly communicate when game will be completely wrapped up, but Forgotten Sanctum was the last major content.

Removing Undetected Traps
Wormerine replied to Ælfwine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well, if I remember well how much HP your character has doesn't really matter in deadifre. The biggest danger of traps is that they grant you "wounds". Stack more than 3 on your character = DEAD. I don't think it is supposed to be possible to disarm traps without detecting them. You can only avoid them manually (not step on them).

PC Gamer - Best RPG 2018: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Wormerine replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think this is time for Deadfire to get some serious praise and, hopefully, sales. For all the nitpicks that can and have been made, it is still a really well crafted game with a lot of talent behind it. I enjoy playing it every time I return to it.

Beast of Winter impressions
Wormerine replied to handsomenat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I did find Eder and Aloth to not really work for me. I suppose I never felt like they belonged in the game beyond being likable faces returning for the sequel. Didn't yet connect with Eder's personal quest, and Aloth's ending up in Deadfire seemed too convenient. Though personally to me, the bigger issue I had is that their PoE1 endings felt undermined in order to allow to have them return without the need to write multiple versions of the same character. Aloth with&without Islelmyr's was in my mind different Aloth, while in Deadfire Aloth without Iselmyr is simply an Aloth with less content. Personally, I think I would prefer to see them as a small cameo but do see a clearer change in who they are though I imagine that properly developing various Eders and Aloths would still take quite a bit of work, even if amount of written words weren't nearly as large.

Forgotten Sanctum is pretty darn good [Heavy Spoilers]
Wormerine replied to anameforobsidian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Ha! Llengrath just walked away before I could give her the Godseed. I guess I have my new "orlan baby" for PoE3 reactivity.

Wormerine replied to Paper Whisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Those are not Wael godlikes. Your second theory is somewhat closer to the truth.

Forgotten Sanctum no narration
Wormerine replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That's been my guess, and that's what I was hoping for. Excellent.

Forgotten Sanctum no narration
Wormerine replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That would be highly immature of her. Well, they did add the new Ydwin conversation, however, whenever it was recorded with Forgotten Sanctum or before is unknown. It is also possible she might have Ukaizo reactivity - didn't check it, but I has been reported that other sidekick have. If all of those were recorded before, it makes sense they wouldn't book her to record those few lines for FS, or that they didn't mind if she wasn't available. If they did record those with FS I am a bit surprised they didn't pack in narration and slides. Either way, I hope it will make it into the game eventually.

Forgotten Sanctum is pretty darn good [Heavy Spoilers]
Wormerine replied to anameforobsidian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Fair enough. Remids me of the time when I watched "The Usual Suspects" and was disappointed that Kevin Spacey was the bad guy. "Because of course he is. That was the twist?"

What faction did you like it most?
Wormerine replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Well, what would you have, rather than ultimatum? Those are political factions we are talking about, and from different countries. For them it's win or loose game, and when they see opportunity they don't hesitate to act. Certainly not something comfortable to ally with, but it does feel believable. To bad game ends soon after that, and there is no chance to explore benefits of supporting one faction/detremend of not taking sides and letting factions tear Deadfire apart.

just noticed something new...
Wormerine replied to topologista's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Neat! I wonder what else is hidden. Obs needs to work on their patch notes. Not only they add new stuff to the game for no extra charge, but they also hide it from us!

Forgotten Sanctum no narration
Wormerine replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I doubt it. It's not like they disabled it throughout (right...? didn't check). It's more likely that Ashley wasn't available for recording or something. The god sequences aren't a bit problem as there actually isn't much for hear to read. But it sucks if there is no narration for new ending slides. That will feel weirdly off. It would be cool if they found a way to patch them in, but with no new major content coming up that might not happen.

Localization!
I doubt there will be more audio options rather than English. While certainly makes for a better product for those not fluent in English it is a massive investment, especially for an RPG where amount of lines is expected to be significant. In the end it is a mid budget title - I can’t imagine their audio budget to be big enough to support recording sessions in multiple languages. Subtitle translation should be a thing. I hear those haven’t been great lately though. Hopefully 2K might connect Obsidian with a better translation teams than what they used for PoEs.

The creators of The Outer Worlds on learning to make better RPGs
Yeah, it’s alright. But I don’t think that not having those damages game in any way. In the end it’s about how skill helps you save resources. I am curious if OW will use Deus Ex system (the higher hacking skill the less lockpicks required) or if it will be a hard cap (need that much skill to lockpick). Personally I though the original DE multi tool/lockpick system was great, as it opened more ways for people who invested in hacking/lockpicking, while still allowing everyone to open each, individual lock with enough resources.

Forgotten Sanctum is pretty darn good [Heavy Spoilers]
Wormerine replied to anameforobsidian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Yeah, it’s a great dungeon. I pretty much loved it except the conclusion. I found the lore interesting especially as it goes into the future, but it’s already all wrong. Ha! Can’t trust any of it.

When do companions permanently leave the party?
Wormerine replied to Madscientist's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I might be off but here is how I understand it: Politically uninvolved party members: -Eder, Xoti, Aloth. Maybe its possible for them to leave if you really dislike what you do, but all I got was serious talk with eder. -Pallegina - she is a strong supporter of Valians and will be upset if you do anything against Valians. She will leave you if you mess up quests involving feud of prominent Valian families . If you side with Huana she will leave, and if you pin sabotage of Rauataian powder house on VTC director she will leave you as well. Side note: I remember Josh tweating that if Pallegina is having "disgraced" background she will accept nothing less than siding with Valians. However, this claim has been contested by several players. -Serafen - not so much interested in politics, but if you agree to support slavers he will leave. -Takehu - he will leave if you side with RDC - as their plan is fairly anti-huana Maia - she will leave when you agree to target RDC: so siding with Valians or Huana. I'm not sure if it's possible for companions to leave due to differences, but even if it is, those can be easily resolved. I did finish game with Pal and Xoti in the party for example. In addition all the leaving has been buggy throughout the games release - for example on my first playthrough no one left, and there are reports of companions not leaving if they are not present during the event. However, those are bugs and they might have been patched by now.

Forgotten Sanctum no narration
No Ashley Johnson wonderful narration for scripted interaction with supernatural creatures in Beyond this time around. Sad face.

What difficulty scaling for first run-- but as an RPG / PoE1 expert?
Wormerine replied to SweetMagooMagoodle's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I would go Veteran and upscale all. If you are a completionist I would also download mod to reduce XP gain. I am not 100% sure how balanced the game is now. I found expansions just right on Veteran - somewhat challenging, couple deaths, but never overwhelming. The biggest problem in Deadfire is tendency to overlevel content - therefore xp mod. I am not sure what game considers as crit path, I would just suggest to upscale all.

What faction did you like it most?
Wormerine replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The good thing about factions that I can completely see supporting each one of them depending on character I played. VTC was a fit for my main PC so here is my vote.

Robes of the Weyc. Empower and Blood mage
Wormerine replied to Gregorovich's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)It works for me just fine - didn't use enough empowers to progress, but they are getting registered. Just to make sure, you have to empower abilities - I don't think refreshing your resource pool works.

First-person shooter :(
So much stupid. Microsoft acquisition has been recent, as far as the word goes they are still figuring things out, and Outer Worlds doesn't have anything to do with Microsoft. That project has been long on the making. Decision to limit camera options for purely FTP has been made by Obsidian due to budget limitations. Who knows, maybe with big backing of Microsoft it would have 3rd person view, just to match current "Bethesda" model.
