Love the documentary. Can't get the cards (digital tier, shipping just too costly, even without tax. And our mail service sucks nowadays )

Wait? You mean you can't make a game with only one enemy type, called Darkspawn? Or if we're generous 2 (Cerberus, Reaper). Someone better tell some developer. But yeah, I have no doubt there will be a great variety of enemies. Unlike most modern RPG's. I will be dissapointed without rakshasa though, we definitely need some kind of enemy resembling it xD

NDA's make sense if you want to keep your product secret for now. Little hard to keep PE secret now with the big Kickstarter and all. NDA's can be kept. Had one from Paradox for a game, and nobody knew the game was made till release suddenly hits. Then again, about 5 people besides the developers do kinda make that easy . Not so much 6000.

Randomness and non-combat skills
Hassat Hunter replied to Zeyelth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I would be fine with fixed checks in dialogue. Random rolls in non-dialogue/non-combat rolls. And success on, say, wilderness lore, might also depend on how much of the map you discovered, how much info you gathered about a location. Dialogue depends on reputation, previous things you said or did etc. I seriously doubt you *ever* need to pass a test and if you fail it's game over. OE aren't amateurs. It may have bad consequences, but I would just say... suck it up. Can't win all checks in the game. Need to make choices, sacrifices... -
How should the UI look?
Hassat Hunter replied to Rostere's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
However looking at the size of your generic IE map, the screenshot and expectations, do you really need a map showing you the other 3/4th you can easily scroll to anyway if you wanted to see full-size? RTS maps have small units, large maps. They don't HAVE a full map like BG, PST, IWD. So of course mini-map makes sense. However if PE has a good view, a full-area map, do we really need yet another map layer inbetween? I too vote with "too much, not needed"... -
I'm fine with riddles, even if I suck at them too. Also, chance to learn to become better at english... so removing them just because english is not a first language is not helping people learn
-
No. That would be as stupid as level scaling, so obviously OE would not do that. Pretty much... Yay. Return of the town crier. Gone due to "too costly to VO", back in all it's glory in PE (hopefully). :D

Making "Mens erger je niet" online or a RPG is kinda different. First, we need 6 players sending data and that should not be lost, instead of barely any data. Second, the data packages would be more complex than that game. Also, robots don't have inventories to share, conversations to have at the same time. How to handle people at different locations (DS3 way? Must you be on the same map)? AI aside from the players (which is far more than 2), which has to respond to the input of all the players. Especially the conversations will be a pain to do MP. Since, well, knowing OE, they will be long and plenty. And will 5 people will be unable to do anything at the time? You can hardly allow anyone to murder the conversation owner during talking (specific code and exceptions added just for mp). And I probbaly just scratching the surface here...

thank you!

He probably browsed BioWare's forums. I would lose faith in RPG "fans" too then... -
Mystery - As a Mechanic
Hassat Hunter replied to Luridis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
What? You don't want to find random items and immediately know who to give it to (Dragon Age)? Blasphamy! Sarcasm aside, yeah, I'd love that...- 8 replies

Yeah, I also like to save a lot, I don't like redoing sections over and over and over. Which limited saving would require to do...

I don't think you need to do much cirling in a map-based environment instead of a full sandbox. Even on the biggest IE maps you could quickly get to edges and find another area. Or just use the overhead map and see exactly where you are. The only time you really had to spend a bit of time searching is when they wanted you to, because of hidden quests and items.

Did you guys meet up with Sion? Open the door with Vash's code? What does your questlog say about "Trapped". Is it in the closed quests section? -

How should the UI look?
Hassat Hunter replied to Rostere's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I prefer if not everything is in a bar on the lower level. Some RPG's did that, and I was often dead without realising, since how often are you going to look at the bottom of the screen. Left or right fits much better due to human vision working as it does. Also one of the reasons why I think IWD2's HUD was a step back from the other IE games... -
Upper Tier Question
Hassat Hunter replied to Ashram's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Doesn't the $10.000 allow you everything? (Not that most can afford that ) -
Still needs to boot up the Steam client for that offline play... So, yup... DRM.

I don't think harming individual body parts really adds to an IE-game. Also, while wounds can be nice I suppose, don't include them like Drakensang. Where it basically was "just use bandage", which isn't really an addition besides added repetition...
