Abydon was awesome, as we knew he should be. Dude, where's my screentime? Woedica was a huge bitch, which once again, was not a great surprise. The Pale Knight was largely up to her reputation, but overall seemed a bit petty for a goddess of detachment and loss. Magran was oddly defeatist, and not the shrewd tactician I'd hoped for. The art department badly botched her and Hylea. Everyone else was OK, or the victim of minor nitpicks.

I do feel like Konstanten was poorly served by his own mechanics. Personality wise, he's a blue-collar commoner, A Dyrwood drifter (never mind the incongruous ethnic cues) with simple mannerisms. As a dwarf, he's sturdy and industrious. Everything about him practically screams TANK. Instead, he's a Barbarian/Chanter. One role which requires him to dominate a battlefield, the other which demands he captivate attention and sing heroic ballads. Meanwhile, Poor Konstanten has an INT of 10. He's tough as nails, but hardly a beacon of inspiration. He should have had Fighter or Monk as a backup class, and Rekke should have been the chanter.

I appreciated Maia. I went everywhere with Kana, and she's... really nothing like him, which is a nice little surprise in itself. Her jingoism and casual racism feel internalized to inhabiting Eora, and being steeped in esprit de corps. You can chip at it a bit, but mostly you have to take her how she is, which isn't bad as a concept, especially when it's mostly directed at other members of her own race. Her snark is subtler than some of the companions, which is a nice "blink and you'll miss it" bonus. Pallegina is doubly insufferable in this game, and being married to the most problematic faction makes it worse. But she's a Josh Sawyer character, and i'd be foolish to expect any better. Free shrugs. But Tekehu could have been so much more nuanced and less cringey, or at least been tempered by the option to get aggressive towards his BS. As a representative of the most prominent culture, the fact that he's just an extended depravity joke is awfully disappointing. Finally, a companion for the Kanye Wests of the world. I remain disappointed how they handled Ydwin, but that's not the character's fault. Fashy elf is fine.

I felt like my Island Aumaua, Deadfire mercenary got a good amount of reference, throughout the game. Of course, per the chart, I was dead last in class pick (Fighter) so consider that if you want. As a deadfire guy, you have to roleplay as if the customs are familiar and known to you, which might be counterintuitive to some players.

You can turn off gibs in the game options and people will stop exploding. That said, the viability of a subclass shouldn't be determined by a graphical option. While I don't mean to be overly disgusting, maybe we could satisfy both issues by applying the buff automatically when a Corpse Eater gibs a kith. If I were a cannibal, numerous bite sized chunks would go down quicker and easier than a massive slab of meat. This would also provide a slim hope of doing a solo run with one.

If every corpse in the old city, and every outstanding bounty besides were vicious fiends, and every one in the RDC's sights was wholly blameless? In that world the RDC would be doing evil for a good cause. While those carrying out the Huana law would be doing good, but for a neutral cause. As some wandering watcher, it's all beyond my pay grade.

No. What's criminal may or may not be immoral, and what's wrong is a matter of perspective. Given the state of the old city, I'd say that the Huana have a pretty broad definition of what's wrong, and yet none of their own behavior meets the standard. In some ways the RDC is a breath of fresh air. They don't say their targets deserve death, just that it's expedient to grant it.

Agreed on all accounts. All it took was some calculations in my head to see that sustained fire from the Thunderers was... if not optimal, very deadly. Considering that random hits can remove crew or hit the magazine, it behooves you to be firing all the time. I never even had time to jibe. And yes, I would pay a most immodest fee for more Haeferic guns.

I'm tempted by the overall distaste for the Valian companions... BUT I think all you get in return is a magic doll. And my watcher is too old to play with dolls. Particularly ones gifted by Skaen.

As far as I remember this was never the case in PoE, but I always felt it should be. How can I have a reputation for being honest and being a liar (PoE1), or being both kind and cruel? That was a phrasing issue. Bring back the narrator, and modify reputations to be reactionary. I'm sure there are instances of Abe Lincoln bending the truth, or Patton being diplomatic, but they're known for their overwhelming preference for the contrary. A character that is overwhelmingly quick to anger should not be known as a diplomat, even if they did pull it off that one time.

You need another frontliner. Eder will keep up with the Rush, but Xoti won't without help. Either switch in replacement for Xoti (Konstantin/Pallegina), or retire Serafen and keep her + additional meat. EDIT: If you're not reusing the shotguns, and going into melee yourself. you have some more flexibility. But as a gun devoted I assume you're staying ranged?

I do miss the comfy process of applying blessings from POE1. You'd lay down some consecrated ground at the front line, Hit your enemy mob with interdiction, then save your group heal for things turning against you. If you had Durance, you could have him drop some gunfire while you figured out what needed buffing, or managed someone else. Some fights(lighthouse, etc) required some major revisions, but overall it felt more intuitive the priest mechanics in deadfire. I do like the reduced spell selection, though. No sense having bloat for stuff you'll never cast.
