  1. The Breastplates, Brigandines, and Paddeds are meant to be the 'fashion' choices of their armor tiers. Generally, you'll see a lot of color reactivity on these, albeit usually on the nonmetal parts. Everything else, much less so. Certainly I've found that weapons don't change color, except some uniques look different.
  2. Well, yeah. The New Bloods don't have any plans to do anything especially terrible, just persist in the regular things they already do 8 days a week. Furrante is chaos for a (presumably) higher order. Aeldys is chaos for it's own sake.
  3. Well. the RDC is definitely the pinnacle of ordered opposition. Activities are done on a strategic, rather than local scale, and equipment and personnel are logged extensively. If the Deadfire is going to get an effective centralzed rule, it's through them. You can see the results for yourself in Sayuka. It's up to you whether Pax Ruatania is better than Local traditions upheld. It would seem the Queen and the Ranga Nui's authority can't coexist amicably. Will your esteem for a faction extend to taking bounties on them, or not? All are technically legal (except maybe the Principi ones).
  4. Absolutely Huana. The way they cling to tradition and reward their society from the top down is absolutely in line with the letter of the LAW. The way they use the Old City is very much in line with how a certain spirited factol used Sigil's great prison, too. They really don't. There are five Ducs, and each one is trying to screw the rest only slightly less than the natives. If Valians understood the rule of Law, there would be still be an Old Vailia in high regard. It is worth noting that the principles of the Red Death would very closely align with the Leaden Key and (Especially) the Steel Garrote. Woedica is big on oaths fullfilled, and harsh to those who waver...
  5. Ending Slide for Neketaka. While Hazanui Karū directs her fleet from Ukaizo, Atsura stays behind to manage Neketaka. Under his oversight, sturdy walls and artillery batteries rise to protect the city. Ships bearing settlers from Rauatai and staple goods from the archipelago churn the waters of Queen's Berth. And despite the vacancies at Kahanga Palace, Atsura retains his simple quarters in the Brass Citadel. Dude's not in it for the trappings of office.
  6. If you do the full RDC route, the final stinger that: He was doing it for Deadfire all along, and is uninterested in more power or status Is an interesting wrinkle. Atsura is simultaneously a highly deceptive, yet ultimately honest character.
  7. If you threaten Benwith on your first meeting, then remind him when he's alone, you get a minor reputation increase independent of the quest resolution. The Principi appreciate a dish served cold.
  8. A core group of: -Watcher Fighter DPS/Tank -Xoti Buff Priestess -Eder Fighter Tank -Maia Ranger DPS with birdguard From there I can take Aloth for fancy stuff or story purposes or Howler Konstanten to have an unkillable party.
  9. I split the difference by giving him the Reckless Brigandine. It's not his original look, but it's still very Huana influenced.
  10. I guess in some ways he's the Durance of Deadfire? I never thought about it that way. Certainly the likability of the character and the intricacy in writing them are two different things. I always felt for all his faults, Durance had a lot of hard-won insight, whereas Tekehu has mostly arrogant Naïveté. But nothing in his background suggests he should be otherwise. I don't think I will ever like Tunaman, but might be persuaded that he brings a new perspective to the game.
  11. It's also in broader nomenclature as a peasant weapon. Sort of a mace/harpoon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goedendag
  12. I appreciate that this patch finally delivered what the last one promised. (character appearance edits). And the naked dwarf fixes, of course.
  13. I've had a Dhow named The Valiant and a Junk named Yenwood's Roar. The later being a reference to Whispers of the Yenwood, and the comparative differential in firepower.
  14. New Boatswain is really nice, even if he's the wrong color for an islander. New Cook has a unique portrait, is unfortunately of an ethnicity I have plenty of. Haven't found the 3rd. Anyone want to give me a pointer as to where to find the Orlan?
  15. Just a word to the wise. Anyone who loves their Konstanten would be well advised to find him some exceptional plate mail. The brown stuff. It's a drop from some of the nicer bounty ships. This keeps him both staying safe and looking great.
  16. Only one faction is talking about wholesale murder of the tribals, and only to enrich the adra. Valians profiting means more Valians setting up shop; destroying far more adra in the long run. In any case, it only ruins Tikiwara's chances to be Port Maje. With better leadership it could still find it's niche.
  17. Guys. What if there were... Randomly generated Pirate Ships? Randomize races, classes, ship and armament type. Generate names from a table. Come up with a system to randomize heraldry to get triumphs. They could have a level range based on map quadrant, and a simple loot table. Hard to say how much is too much, but a new ship every two months should be reasonable. What say?
  18. If you read Beza's notes, she openly opines that Castrol wouldn't have the stomach for murdering the natives to enrich the Adra. She believes Alvari probably would. It being only a matter of time until profits trump morals, I destroyed the adra. Being an island Aumaua made the decision a bit easier. YMMV.
  19. I suspect you're supposed to keep the souls for an evil resolution.
  20. Whispers of Yenwood is no more, it was forged into a larger sword. In honor of this, my Junk was dubbed Yenwood's Roar.
  21. Yes, it's a stretch, but so are many of the monetary systems. I think the worst offenders are probably in the prices for food and drink. An expert sailor can work for weeks and not have enough for a days worth of Pork cutlets and Rum. Certain cooked meals cost more than cannons in their packing cases.
  22. Tragically for the life of the captive, I was a Devoted specializing in greatsword. I've got a moral compass, but it doesn't spin THAT far off course.
  23. Gotta parcel that fun out, cant have it all collecting in one item or another. Making the game we just bought too fun might ruin the artistic vision, and wouldn't be good balance.
