Anyone still use figurine?
the_dog_days replied to Archaven's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I never used figurines as often as I could/should have anyway. This way at least they feel important to me.

Pathfinder RPG Kingmaker
Isn't that a definition of flop? Not doing the numbers makers was hoping for? Confused. Look at the minutes of a Square Enix shareholders meeting and you'll see the yawning gulf between what numbers are needed to make the game a success and what numbers they're hoping for. Not saying Obsidian is the same but usually there's a pretty noticeable difference between the two.

Finally some sales evidence
the_dog_days replied to no1fanboy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Ninja Theory did a video on this same matter last year (its on youtube). They said games rarely go into the black within six months after release. Personally, I buy this if only because of holiday sells (retail, for example, relies on the holidays to bring in same thing like 90% of their annual revenue).

How have the investors in the $1,000 items done?
the_dog_days replied to Craig234's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, paradox admitted that they dropped the ball on marketing and release. They also said that they were pleased with Tyranny’s sales, having only been slightly below expectations And then turned around and did the same thing for Battletech.

What are you playing right now?
Bought a switch on release (I'm an unabashed fanboy of Nintendo handhelds). Didn't get much use out of it until I started work at my new job. Now I play it daily on my commute.

Pathfinder RPG Kingmaker
1) No 'cause DOS2 has been one of the best selling of the crpg resurgence. 2) No 'cause the studio, regardless of how popular the pen and paper is, isn't a known, unlike Obsidian. 3) No 'cause Bard's Tale is a known franchise by a known dev (I say this despite being kinda indifferent towards Wasteland 2 and outright disliking TToN).

Charm breaking if you sneeze on them.
the_dog_days replied to gristlethick's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Unless I'm remembering it incorrectly (which wouldn't surprise me because I don't use ciphers too often in POE1), charm didn't break on receiving damage in the first game and that was one of the reasons ciphers were considered OP. And yeah, it was cheesy.

Did you ever feel like there was too little combat in Deadfire?
the_dog_days replied to Heijoushin's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Same thing happened to me despite instigating every fight I could without going full on murder hobo. (I think there's way too little combat, its too widely scattered, and the scenarios themselves aren't very interesting, even on PotD.)

Can't seem to get into the game
the_dog_days replied to Pangalactic's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Not that it isn't true for PoE, but every real time with pause game I've ever played (which is just about all of them) has horrible pathing bugs.

Did I miss a physical rewards update?
the_dog_days replied to bonebrah's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)They haven't been mailed out yet. When they're ready to ship there will be an update on both the announcements page and on the fig page, and you should receive an email the same day. I think they're waiting until all the free dlc has been released before shipping so you don't have to go onto GOG or Steam to get them for the physical edition.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - BATTLE ROYALE
Like comparing Thief and Dishonored. One's a hardcore stealth and the other is a superhero game with some stealth.

POLL - What game do you think is better Witcher 3 vs Deadfire
the_dog_days replied to no1fanboy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Sometimes a game comes along and no matter how popular or great it is, all you can see are the cracks in the seams. Breath of the Wild was like that for me. Everyone else loved it and the flaws are glaringly obvious to me and prevent me from enjoying it. That doesn't mean the game isn't great or that my tastes are 'incorrect', but that it just wasn't for me. We'll all be a lot happier when everyone accepts this fact and no longer dwell on it.

POLL - What game do you think is better Witcher 3 vs Deadfire
the_dog_days replied to no1fanboy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I don't think you could've picked two less alike games within the same genre.

Keep the Ship Mechanic in Pillars 3 or Reuse the mechanics in a Pirate CRPG?
the_dog_days replied to injurai's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Text based combat is fine (and the current year is irrelevant to the topic), but the mechanics are poorly implemented.

Any Chance of Getting PoE on the Switch?
I've got a thirty minute commute to and from work every day and I like to play my Switch while I'm out. Obsidian has already announced that Deadfire is going to be coming out for the Switch and I was wondering if there's been any discussion about porting POE 1, too. I know Paradox handled the other console ports and I think Versus Evil is handling the Deadfire ports, but I'd love the chance to get to play on the go.

God of the Arcane
the_dog_days replied to Porcelyn's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)There isn't a particular deity of magic. Wael likes the pursuit (and loss) of knowledge, Rymrgand as a ice motif, and Magran likes things that explode.

Godlike as "children" of the gods...

Keep the Ship Mechanic in Pillars 3 or Reuse the mechanics in a Pirate CRPG?
the_dog_days replied to injurai's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The problem is they've already set the precedent with Deadfire of tearing down mechanics/progression from the previous installment. I would expect combat and management systems to get overhauled (again) going into POE3.

the_dog_days replied to injurai's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I like the idea of a caravan.

What are you playing right now?
Gave up (yet again) on TTON. Game needs a line editor. I'm a prolific reader and usually I wouldn't see as many adjectives as TTON uses in its opening sequence in the entirety of a full novel. And yes, I judge it like a novel because it is an interactive novel.
