I've always preferred a 3/3 melee/ranged split, with the third melee being a swing guy who can switch to ranged if need be. Either that or have multiple chanters and flood the room with summons. -
Do ships respawn?
the_dog_days replied to Skazz's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
From what I've seen (in about 55 hours of game) named ships/ship captains don't respawn. -
I was thinking more of an arpg but as a spin off. I'd also love to see an srpg as a spin off.

Either you're really lucky or you've played nothing but Bethesda games and Dwarf Fortress for ten years. I was being literal. I can count on one hand the number of titles I've played day one in the last four years. All of those (Xcom 2, Mass Effect Andromeda, the Witcher 3, Battletech, Dragon Age Inquisition) were buggier for me. 99% of the time I don't play (even if I do buy) day one. I didn't say there weren't bugs, but Deadfire has nothing on what I've experienced on a whole list of day one games over the past decade.

No, its actually easy. I'm playing on veteran (which is the new name for hard) and I just let the basic AI do all the fighting (I haven't even customized the AI scripts).
-
The combat is worse because it isn't challenging at all.

I'm playing on hard and I just let the AI do its thing in fights while I watch in double speed.

Just finished a playthrough of VtMB I started two months ago. There's a reason this is one of my favorite games of all time, warts and all.

So I'm looking at a (really bad) Deadfire guide on YouTube when I see this add in the corner:

Well, technically, Paradox ported POE to console. But, seriously, it would be up to Paradox to port Tyranny, too.

I've got about 20 hours in Deadfire. My take so far: Tech *On the graphical side, everything has been improved pretty much across the board. *(Aside from a memory leak bug, I never had much trouble with POE load times). The load times aren't really that much faster, but you have the option to 'fast travel' directly into every building you've visited in the city, thus cutting down on the number of load walls to get from place A to place B. *There's a memory leak bug that makes performance in the big city sluggish if you've been playing for a few hours. Exiting to main menu and reloading clears it up. Combat *Been playing on the equivalent of 'hard' difficulty and it so far isn't hard. I had one fight that I managed poorly (I usually just let the AI do its thing) when I was fighting units several levels above me, and had three characters (and a ranger pet) go down. That was the closest thing to tough fight I've had. *There is way less fighting in this game. Or, I should say, the ship combat is about 50% of the fighting and that can only happen if you're sailing around. *The level cap is supposed to be 20, as a result, each level doesn't necessarily leave you feeling like you've gotten especially stronger unlike POE. Story *"Follow that giant statue!" I think the narrative team may have over corrected in trying to give an obvious goal to the player (some critics had of POE had trouble remembering what the plot goal was; hint: the plot goal was whatever you were role playing said it was). *The relationship system feels 'game-y'. *There's less subtly to the characters. So at times (particularly Eder) the returning characters feel a little like caricatures. Overall: I'm really enjoying Deadfire, but so far, I think I like POE better.

Thanks. I just bought one. :D

That's great to hear, I genuinely mean that but unfortunately I live in the US. Tis the land of shamelessness and the whole corporate world is a lot like feudalism, it ain't fun to be a serf. We must live in different parts of the US. -
Hope this isn't a sign that his widow is struggling financially.
