  1. Uh what? I don't really care, I'm not going to watch any streams, but what's with the favoritism? Maybe, but really, given that we're talking about streamers and not reviewers, who cares?
  2. Jets traded three second round draft picks to move up to 3 and got Sam Darnold, who many thought was the best QB in the draft. My first thought is I'm glad they didn't pick either Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen (both guys are boom or bust). Second thought was I hope Darnold is worth three second rounders and one number 3 overall pick. Give that they are the Jets and Darnold was a USC quarterback, I'm not holding my breath.
  3. ^ And doesn't come out for days.
  4. Are you talking about Virgil? First playthrough was as a half ogre with dumped int. Virgil was pretty savage. :D
  5. Yeah, I knew EA was that way, but I wasn't sure if Activision was as stingy with their unused IPs.
  6. I was the nerd through middle school and high school who would get in trouble for staying up all night reading and get 'grounded from reading' (foster parents aren't usually equipped with the know-how of disciplining bookworms for reading 'too much').
  7. Has anyone ever inquired after the rights to Arcanum, that we know of? Is Activision is at all amenable to selling IPs that are collecting dust?
  8. The vast majority of the time I play a dude. I also make him as big and mean as I can and play him as a compulsively violent maniac (unarmed if its viable). Nothing quite like RPing the murder hobo pugilist that looks the part.
  9. Headline: Pillars 2 DLC pits you against a doomsday cult. My reaction: but I want to join a doomsday cult.
  10. Super Dimension Fortress Macross and Code Geas. Also like the NA version of Gundam Wing for the so-bad-its-good voice acting. Mechs are the only weeb stuff I'm into.
  11. To be fair, I thought fighting mechs with swords was pretty hilarious. :D But, yeah, Arcanum is a much better example of what I'm thinking.
  12. I finished playing Trails of Cold Steel awhile back and the game takes place in a fantasy world that's in the middle of an industrial revolution (sound familiar?). The primary conflicts are mostly about the politics of a imperial society whose culture is becoming increasingly technologically and economically irrelevant and those who fight against or in favor of the change. (Pretty deep stuff considering--no offense--that its a jrpg.) Considering POE 1 & 2 largely have to do with souls and the gods I think it would be interesting if in one of the expansions or the sequel they shift some of the focus on the sociopolitical issues brought up in a world on the cusp of an industrial revolution. There was some of that in POE1 with animancy, but I'd like to see more of that in the future. Anyone else's thoughts?
  13. Funny you should say this. I was playing Command and Conquer earlier to day and was reminded of how refreshing it was to have a obviously good and bad side.
  14. 1) Fun. The three big name RPGs that came out last year were perfectly fine (BotW, HZD, and Nier Automata), except that I didn't find any of them fun. Fun is an unidentifiable quality that is rooted in opinion, but the most important. 2) Nothing is more annoying than pointless or entirely separate gameplay loops (which was my problem with BotW). Having a good, tight-yet-flexible set of gameplay loops goes a really long way. 3) When I am genuinely interested in a story I like cut scenes. Similarly, if I don't care about the story I don't want to watch your cut scenes. If a game has a meh story but doesn't use many if any cut scenes this improves its quality (Skyrim, for example). If a game as a great story and has a fair number of cut scenes this also improves its quality (Dragon Age: Origins). I guess you could say that my #3 is cut scenes directly proportional to how engaging the story is. 4) Art style (I'm including audio design in this). Everyone has their preferences, but a clear, definable art style goes a long way. 5) Deep lore. Back in middle school I bought my first coffee table lore book (Middle Earth; I love the LotR). Now they're practically an addiction. I love deep lore in a setting, but at the same time my interest in the setting wanes if and when the lore becomes inconsistent (Mass Effect, the Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Fallout, Star Trek, Star Wars, superhero comics etc). In short, I like games that adhere to an artistic vision, play to their strengths, and don't dabble in things that don't fit just because studio XYZ is doing it and having a lot of success.
  15. What's SA? Something Awful. A forum.
  16. With the AI scripting in place in Deadfire, I could see a very competent co-op for sequels. Were I in charge of it, I would remove pausing for co-op, have companions driven by the AI script, and let the players micro their player characters (though leave the pausing in for single player). Sounds like it could be fun.
  17. I'll be far too busy playing Battletech that day to pay attention to who the Jets waste their top five pick on this year.
  18. Even with all that dreadful non-combat rng? For me, the percentile chance on everything killed the game for me.
  19. ^ I don't get any of those references. Is it because I'm too old?
  20. No rest of the weary. I've fought this girl about three of four times now and she's acted like this in each. Your sarcasm is unbecoming, Jusis. This is the main villain. My bro Crow. Never forget :'( When I first met her she was such a sweet, helpful girl . . . . Not after this you aren't. Then there's our homeroom teacher. Aaaaannnnd then there's our our school nurse and principle. Got to catch and eat 'em all! But I sense a new challenger on the horizon. That's very gentlemanly of you, Sharon. The game is over. The final boss defeated. The final dungeon cleared. It's okay to let 'em flow.
  21. Personally, I think turn-style works better with sci-fi. All that pew-pew needs some structure and turn-style is more structured.
  22. The 'enhanced' part is supposed to be patched in later. There's quite an uproar about it, too. The only thing that's "later" is they didn't have the digital deluxe up at launch. Unless you're talking about how they want to do additional content. The enhancements are relatively minor. Iit feels like an update, not a remaster. Here's their roadmap: https://trello.com/b/K0C0i8wF/neverwinter-nights-enhanced-edition According to it, there is supposed to eventually be a lot of 'enhancements', but most aren't in right now.
