  1. That is true. It is very powerful. And the best thing is you can use any weapon you like without looking at damage values because your weapon isn't used for attacking at all. Add Unbroken and also punish enemies who want to leave the Blade Turning Party. Nalpasca with Dance of Death usually generates wounds quickly enough that you can spam Blade Turning endlessly. It plays a bit weird though because you can't do much besides casting Blade Turning since the duration got nerfed. With Turning Wheel you can expand it nicely, but still not enough to do anything else that requires a bit of action time and recovery. AI can handle this totally fine. It's like you only have to steer 4 party members. One of the nicest tanks I played is actually Unbroken/Trickster due to the reasons Dorftek explained (Multi-Engagement + Persistent Distraction and Riposte and so on). Also because Akola's Apex Ward gives you a second crush riposte on top of your normal one and the automatic Deathblows are just awesome. I used Mob Stance + Reckless Brigandine for this guy to stack some attack speed and to have Cleave on kill. Engagement can be gained via Hold tL, spear modal, shield, Unbroken itself, Reckless Brigandine and Persistent Distraction (=6 slots). It's a pretty awesome mix of defense + offense. At least one of the most enjoyable "tanks" I used so far.
  2. Are you sure you can leave Port Maje if you kill your crew? A ship doesn't operate without a skeleton crew.
  3. I guess so. It doesn't put an effect on the enemies like Esssence Interruptor does, does it?
  4. It allows you to forget PEN entirely. Which is a good thing. But the point of one handed style is to generate crits. And crits' +25% dmg bonus is not enough to make up for the loss of the offhand. You need overpenetration from time to time to reach good dps. And the Energy Blade will never get Overpenetration. In my opinion direct raw damage should always and automatically overpenetrate. As an inherent bonus. Then the lower base damage makes some sense which seems to be a leftover of PoE where we had DR and not AR. How can a weapon that has to puncture armor do 30% more damage than a similar weapon that just ignores armor entirely? Does the armor suck the first weapon further in once it has overpenetrated or what?
  5. Def. Blood Testament. Because they are not random and the +2% multiplicative raw dmg per wound is pretty awesome. Mourning Gloves give a bunch of neat bonuses on kill: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Mourning_Gloves But the speed bonus doesn't stack with Swift Strikes. Rabbit Skin Gloves: meh! I guess overall the Gauntlets of Swift action will give you the highest dps increase (because you don't always have 10 wounds).
  6. Anything with a lot of Full Attacks is ok. The base damage of the fists is nice but the recovery is horrible - so skipping at least one recovery phase with Full Attacks is good. I'd try Paladin with FoD or Rogue.
  7. So... The bug with the breastplate seems to be fixed with 2.0. But the duping of the one-handed great sword still works perfectly well with the method I described above.
  8. So BMac answered me in the bug section forum and said this FreeRecipesToggle bug will be fixed in patch 2.1.
  9. No. I'm not. Who said anything about playing around with save data files? Maybe read again? Because nobody did.
  10. Now comes the best part: I got an answer on my bug report and they say it's intended... Yeah, ROFL with me!
  11. [...] Another thing you are forgetting are the engagement slots. +3 from fighter stance, +1 from unbroken +1 from shield, +1 from hold the line. I don't know other players but I abuse this from partial party stealth to grab the highest amount of mobs I can before starting the real combat. If you talk about theorycraft of the highest def tank you can build I agree with your post. But it's a fact that the crusader is the toughest class in terms of prolonged tanking. [...] How you can say that I'm forgetting the Unbroken's engagement slots while quoting me where I say that he's the stickiest tank is totally beyond me... I'm not even campaigning for the Arcance Knight, I just listed pros and cons of the different options. You are gnawling the wrong stick it seems.
  12. You run out of buffs - you're still a paladin. Those don't just die without buffs. Of course it's temporary - but in that time your defenses are stellar. With Arcane Dampener on your head they are still good. Using the wall also applies to other class combos. The reflex malus still persists. It doesn't go away. No point for the Unbroken. Relying on other party members' passive stuff also applies to every other class combo. No point for the Unbroken either. A point is that he's the stickiest tank there is - and that can be a big advantage.
  13. Errrm... but that means you can enchant everything for free without losing achievements. That can't be intended. I flip on Freerecipestoggle in another cheated savegame, load up a "cheat-free" one and can enchant everything I want without limits? What is the point of removing achievements when typing "iroll20s" then?
  14. This thread should go to the char build subforum...
  15. Yes, both. Don't confuse Llengrath's Safeguard with Displaced Image though. The first one stacks with Mirrored Image, leaving you with +50 to deflection and +20 to everything else. Once MI drops below 20 you will still have +20 to all defenses. Also stacks with Arcane Veil or Wizards Double.
  16. Refreshing Defense is the upgrade of Vigorous Defense. It does stack now. I know we discussed oherwise (when you were still no1fanboy ) - but its seems things changed. Same with Llengrath's Safeguard. All abilities that do "+x to all defenses" stack with deflection-only buffs it seems (Circle of Defense). Like it was in PoE. Because of this no other multiclass can achieve the defenses of an Arcane Knight (at least temporary) I think - maybe a Paladin/Wael Priest can: Paladin's defenses + Mirrored Image (+30 defl.) + Llengrath's Safeguard (+20 to all defenses). Iron Skin doesn't stack with Gilded Enmity, but stuff like Bulwark does. Unbroken + Paladin is nice but less versatile - and don't forget that the Unbroken gets a serious malus to his Reflex. +1 AR is nothing to jump around about, but the engagement and hefty disengagement attacks are nice. Combine with Mob Stance, Overbearing Guard, Reckless Brigandine and the new Godhammer Plate to pulverize everybody who doesn't want to stay for dinner. Paladin + Troubadour is very nice as well. Versatile (switch from heavy dmg buffing via Zealous Focus + Shared Flames + Mith Fyr to great healing via Exhalted Endurance + Ancient Memory + Lay on Hands) and more stuff to do with invocations. Paladin/Priest of Wael was suggested not because you need a priest, but because it can reach high defenses with Mirrored Image etc. + Priest buffs and because it has good healing capabilities.
  17. If you use it with rod+Blast, hand mortars or Minor Blights it's ridiculously powerful because it works in an AoE (last time I used it). Way better than Arcane Dampener, also faster, more accurate and cheaper. I'm not 100% sure that it doesn't work with Driving Flight a well... other afflictions do. Wounding Shot does not. I wound test this again to be sure if nothing has changed since 2.0.
