Well, now. I suppose even vore fetishists need plushies.

Sure. I let my dog sleep on the bed, too. Still, I'd count him in the "whomever" category of sleepers. The "whatever" part makes the mattress sound somewhat... unsettling.

I can believe it. Can you imagine what their payroll is? They live in one of the most expensive parts of the country. They have to pay their employees well enough so they aren't homeless. They might be better off moving to a less expensive city. Like my city. It would be cool having them here. California is just getting too expensive to live for most people. I'd rather my hard earned dollars be spent on gaming content, rather than paying for housing costs in one of the most expensive places to live in the U.S. Come to Poland, guys. Video game development is dirt cheap here.

Well ... it's flanderization, innit? Coming back to a character, especially a convincing and well-written character, is a really difficult thing to do. Whoever the writer was when you first wrote that character, whatever was going through their head, it's gone. They're a different person thinking different things, and if the character was a piece of them, warped and reimagined but still basically of the writer's being, that magic can't usually be recaptured. And if it's a different story altogether, with different themes and pivotal forces, it's even harder. So to keep writing the character, a writer makes pithy little notes, lists traits, remembers Things and Particulars and Attributes, and writes to fit those. And as a result, the character becomes those things. And that's not always bad - it means they're not a fully realized person, as they once were, but in sufficiently skilled hands and with enough time and care, the difference can be indiscernible. Either way, it's often preferable to writing a new, different fully realized person and feeling really truly off. Thank you for this post. I wish people more would keep this in mind. Also this.

Effigy Doll
Skazz replied to Tagaziel's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
He does. It just happens that the Watcher is pretty much the only party to pursue him actively, so he turns to the one guy he has available at hand for insight. The fact that the Watcher has obtained full knowledge of the true nature of Eora’s divinity probably helps, too. -
Oh, so "purple" is a brand. Gotcha. I won't lie, that looks like one comfy mattress. EDIT: Also this: Wut

Because Eothas is programmed to love all kith unconditionally. -
What's so special about a purple mattress specifically? Honest question.

Edér: What happened?
Skazz replied to Galagraphia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Right, because the Saint's War was a joyful walk in the park for everyone involved. Sure, one can argue things could always have been worse, but I'm pretty sure he didn't have it all that swell either. The chief reason why Eder behaves like he does is because he saw the absolute worst of life, humanity, and the divine all in one go. He isn't a jokester for the sake of being jokey, it's his way of coping with the horrible, horrible stuff he's seen. -

My main character was a Wild Orlan chanter in both games and I had no issues. Context and intent is important. I don't recall Eder ever speaking from a position of some weird irrational prejudice or horrible superiority-based mindset. He's never known anything else, but more importantly, he knows now - and he's learning, which I think is the most important thing here. He knows he's doing wrong by all those people he misunderstands, and genuinely tries to improve his behavior whenever he can, like the Tekehu situation I mentioned above. -
How to make mutiny happen?
Skazz replied to bugarup's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I know the guy above me said otherwise (and is probably right, my memory is terrible), but I recall Josh mentioning somewhere (tumblr?) that Deadfire will not have Triple Crown-style achievements to avoid annoying achievements hunters. Instead, those will become separate in-game challenges. -

I haven't completed Tyranny, but I remember Barik and Verse were my favorites. What happened to him? Aside from being a walking sewer stuck in a tin can. -

Wait, are people really saying Eder is some kind of close-minded hick? Huh? Since when? Eder isn't racist, or at least not in a malicious sort of way. He just had had horribly narrow and farm-sized horizons until he met the Watcher. The man is a genuinely good soul, but he doesn't register that he sometimes offends other people without him even knowing. It's a bit like Minsc complimenting Mazzy in BG2: when Minsc says that Mazzy is an absolutely amazing fighter for something as tiny as her, he means it. It's not an insult, and there's no hidden agenda to his words. It's genuine if tone-dead praise, and Mazzy catches onto this before lashing out at him in full force. In that regard, Eder is very Minsc-like: insensitive but innocent. Also, notice that by Deadfire Eder has come to realize that he tends to say improper things by accident and actively tries to rectify it. If you have him and Tekehu in party, he sheepishly asks the fish man whether there are any sea creatures he shouldn't eat in front of him.
