  1. Holy sh**. You don't by chance work at a post office do you?
  2. I was thinking about that, but if you listen to the council, Vrook said that you've always been able to inspire others, even has a padawan. Then you started gaining bonds as soon as you re-gain your force powers, with Mira and the party, when you reach Telos after the Council.. you But yeah, Kreia was manipulating you from the beginning, but thats exactly the kind of bonds that actually exist. Say, if you where inspiring Atton and Mira, and they died, you will die too. If you remember also, in the council, Vrook said <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is exactly why I said that K2 made more sense to me playing it DS. Mainly because Now, whether that is as an ally or an enemy remains to be seen.
  3. Okay. I can understand there are alot of disappointed people out there regarding their playing experience with K2. I was one of them. And I've posted my concerns in various threads all over these boards in the last couple months. Occasionally, I'll post something in a thread when somebody posts an interesting topic about a SPECIFIC aspect of the game that they felt fell flat (try saying that three times in a row ). For example, someone's concern about world designs, the music, or the portraits are all specific things about the game that were discussed. Stuff like that is cool. But more and more, it just seems like we're getting inundated with threads like this. Wherein the poster just flames OE and launches into a tirade about everything under the sky. And the main theme of his or her rant is just that "THIS GAME SUCKS, AND SO DOES OBSIDIAN!!!" I don't really see how that's good, honest feedback for the devs to even consider. And more to the point, I think the devs have already answered us about our concerns regarding K2. Granted, they may not have answered us directly, but they have answered. And I think it was only a few days ago that Chris Avellone himself took some time out of his schedule to post in various different threads on here about a variety of different issues. Everything from romances to continuity mistakes was addressed by the man himself. AND, more recently the CEO of the company responded in an email to a poster in this thread here about releasing an expansion pack for K2. There's even more info on that in this thread here, where a few people shed a bit more light on the kind of feedback they're getting from the devs in emails and PMs, including what some of the devs are saying on the BioWare boards about K2. So, my longwinded point is this: there is not going to be an expansion pack, and there is not going to be a patch addressing cut scenes or the ending or anything like that unless something has changed that I'm not aware of. The upcoming patch is for the PC version and is supposed to take care of all the technical bugs, as I understand it. What's done is done. I really don't think anything else can be said. I mean, we're all free to post whatever we want to on here, so long as it's not too outrageous, but all of these questions wondering where the devs are or what's going to be done about the state of TSL are redundant IMO. The short answer is, nothing is going to be done about K2 other than a technical patch that will be released soon by LA. Whether we like it or not, our questions have been answered. I know it's kind of a letdown, but what more do you want? I mean, guys the answer is no. And repeating the same criticisms over and over again is not going to change anything depite how strongly we might feel about it. It is after all, a videogame. I hope I don't offend anyone with this, btw.
  4. I really don't think it's that big of a deal. I've always thought it was obvious that Leia was referring to her adopted mother. Otherwise, why would the twins be serarated at birth only to have Leia, a Force Sensitve daughter of the Dark Lord and heir to the throne of Naboo, be allowed to live with her biological mother after Yoda and Obi-Wan went through all of the trouble to keep them hidden from the Emporer. I mean, how hidden would Leia have been living with Padme for awhile when anyone who was close to the situation knew that Padme was pregnant with twins? I seriously thought this was common knowledge unless Lucas said something that I'm not aware of. Which is entirely possible.
  5. I was actually going to start a thread about this. The music in K2 was another one of the disappointing things to me about the game. And by the way, I'm one of the few players that thinks music is just as important as any other major aspect of a game. In K1, the music sounded like Star Wars, but in a different era. It REALLY worked and totally transported the gamer into the experience. But in K2, all the music sounded exactly the same. There was no contrast to it whatsoever. The only music I really liked was the combat music that would play on Onderon and Dxun, as it sounded alot like the Droid Army theme from the prequels. So, again, not to beat a dead horse, but that's why Onderon was the best world IMO. It just felt like a KOTOR world. From the music all the way down to the environments. I mean, who didn't walk into the Cantina in Iziz and hear that music playing and immediately think of Mos Eisley? Hell, the cantina felt like Star Wars. But the music everywhere else in the game was just indicative of almost everything else in the game: it lacked personality and identity. I was hoping for more themes from K1 in this game. Like, for example, I thought it was really cool how they used the Sith theme from K1 onboard the Ravager. Very nice there. But it would've been cool if there was a bit more of that to preseve continuity in the KOTOR universe. You could be original and create new music, but you can also just take existing themes and modify them for your purposes, in an effort to match the context of the story you're telling. That's what John Williams does. And that's what the composer on K1 did. This is why the score to K1 worked so well. For good measure, I did like the music in the Jedi Enclave the second time you go there. The same music also played at the end of the game if you were LS. But overall, I thought the music in K2 missed the mark.
  6. Force Crush without question. You can go through the entire rest of the game on hard without ever equipping your lightsaber once you get this power. It is utterly devastating. A very close second is Insanity. Man, that power was just sickening. I can't tell you how many times I would walk into a room in the Trayus Academy that was full of troopers and apprentices and cast Insanity and the entire room would be incapacitated. This of course was dependent on what class you were. If you were a Sith Lord or a Sith Assassin, Insanity was da bomb. It's a good substitute for Stasis Field, which I always stayed away from since it was a lightside power, and my last three games have all been darkside.
  7. I think this patch is just going to take care of all the technical issues. I could be wrong but I don't think it has anything to do with content or deleted scenes. Otherwise OE and LA just completely ripped off the Xbox users. Unless of course, they are planning to re-release K2 with expansions content -ala Morrowind.
  8. So I guess the rest of us poor souls that only have the Xbox version are still going to have to suffer.
  9. I've always thought that if there was one thing missing from K2 it was that it needed at least one more planet to go to. As it stands in the game, you just have to revisit two planets again: Dantooine and Onderon. I like that idea but it would've been cool if that Droid planet had made it into the game. And also, as an aside (and sorry if I'm derailing this thread) but my favorite planet was Onderon because it was the only planet in the game that didn't have a canned, indoor and lifeless feel to it. Almost all of the planets that we visited in K2 were either the remants of something or a cess pool of decedance and desperation. I mean, just look at them: Peragus - No need to even go into any details with this "world". Telos - You start off on Citadel Station. A place, for all intents and purposes, just like Peragus only with people and aliens running around. It is an orbiting docking station with no environments and few NPCs to interact with. It's basically just running through corridors. And then when you go down onto Telos' surface, it is devoid of all life as anywhere on the planet outside of the Restoration Zones are highly corrosive. There are no quests or NPCs to be had here. It is all straightforward and linear. Dantooine - A shell of what it once was. All life there is in a sad state of affairs. There is nothing there but mercenaries and salvagers. Two factions that, truth be told, are often times indistinguishable from the other. The sub-levels of the Jedi Enclave are an abysmal reminder of what once was. Again, devoid of life. Korriban - Literally devoid of life. Nar Shaddaa - Most people on here seem to love Nar Shaddaa. I hated it. I mean, I really did. If the UN ever set up a refugee camp in space, this would be it. NO environments whatsoever. And even though there are several NPCs to interact with here, all you do is basically just run through corridors. There was just no fullness to it. Nar Shaddaa had a canned, orbital station feel to it again. Onderon - The exact opposite of every other planet mentioned above. This, in my opinion, was a true KOTOR world. There was life there, quests to be done, and all sorts of moral choices you had to make. Nar Shaddaa was similar but it was just too canned. It wasn't full enough. But on Onderon, I felt like I was playing a KOTOR game. It fit right in with Manaan, Taris, and Kashyyyk from the first game. I mean, none of the worlds in K2 seem to have the life and fullness or the nuances of the world's in the first KOTOR game...or even Onderon. Malachor V - Anyway, I'm done. And I know I'm in the minorty here with this. But I just wanted to say something about that :">
  10. Exactly. I think some of you guys and gals are reading too much into this. I mean, for some of the later names, such as Sion, Nihilus, Malak, Revan, etc., you can say the writers really did want their names to mean something that spoke of what they ultimately represented. But in early Star Wars, Lucas just thought the names sounded cool and harkened back to the Saturday morning serials of pop culture that he grew up with. That's all Star Wars was ever meant to be. It was a love letter to Flash Gordon, Copperhead Man, Rocket Man and Buck Rodgers, among others. But it was always a Saturday morning serial made for kids. After Star Wars became the international phenomenon that it did, it kind of took on a life of it's own and thus, it blossomed into a modern day myth. As other writers began to develop and shape the Universe beyond the movies, Star Wars began to identify itself more and more with all of the world's mythologies that came before it. This is why you now have names like Nihilus, Traya, Sion, Sidious, Bandon, Tyranus, and so on and so forth. The bottom line is, the name Darth Vader was created by Lucas because he just thought it sounded cool and villainy. Like the evil bad guys in those serials and comics that influenced him as a kid. Every thing else that has come later is representative of the "New Age" Star Wars that we have today.
  11. Dustil, first and foremost. The fact that he was supposed to make an appearance in K2 but had his scene cut just grates on my nerves. And of course, I'd like to see Revan and Bastila. Aside from them, though, there's really no one else from the first game I'd care to see. But I thought I read in an interview that Chris Avellone and co. would take K3 in a completely different direction if they were ever to do it. They said something about K3 being totally divergent of the first two games. So, I'm guessing that means that we would have all new NPCs and all new worlds to go to, with an all new storyline that has nothing to do with K1 or K2. In light of that, I think, if Obsidian ever does K3, Revan's fate will only be mentioned in passing, but it will be a definitive answer that leaves nothing to the imagination. I doubt we'll ever see him or her again, though. It just doesn't seem to be in the cards from what I've heard so far about a possible K3.
  12. Nevertheless, what people are saying here have alot of merit. Have you seen the online petition to restore K2's ending? Last I checked it was approaching 1000 signatures and it hasn't even been up that long. But to answer your question, no, I don't think we can judge Obsidian by this game alone. Although, you can say this game fell short in a few places that was glaring. But, when you look at the time constraints and LA'a awful track record, I'm willing to give OE the benefit of the doubt.
  13. In certain situations, yes, NWN's AI was better. In NWN you had a MULTITUDE of commands you could give to a party member. For example, inside the Inner Sanctum of the Source Stone where you confronted Morag, once her two Hands came out to attack you, you could fall back through the tunnels and then bring up the radial commands on your henchman and tell him or her to follow you, irregardless of if they were in combat mode or not. That's just one of many examples throughout the game, by the way. It's just the one that sprung to mind. You could also tell your henchman to "Stand Your Ground", which was kind of like Solo Mode, except that they didn't automatically attack an enemy when one was in sight. These minor functions made a big difference when facing tough enemies in that game. But it would've been even cooler if KOTOR had the same command functions as the BG games and Icewind Dale, where you could issue specific commands and even tell NPC's where to attack from, or even tell them to fall back. I know that those games were run off of ancient engines, but they handled combat situations and tactical planning, as well as party formations far better then either KOTOR game, IMO. It was like you were in command of a small military unit.
  14. I was actually gonna say that the narrator for BG did the voice for Zez Kai-Ell. Maybe not. But I thought so. Also, the person that voiced Handmaiden also voiced Nalia in BG2. And I believe there was a character named Canderous in the original Baldur's Gate if I'm not mistaken.
  15. Since this game is riddled with glithces and we've all been complaining loudly about them, I thought I would just start a thread where people can just post some of the glithes that they've experienced that were just so bad or off the wall it was laugh-out-loud funny. I'll start. Onboard The Ravager when you confront Colonel Tobin. On more than one occasion after I killed him, he would give off the female dying moan. So, unless Tobin was actually a transvestite or on hormones or something, I assume this was a glitch. And I think I would need a screenshot to do this one justice. But as I'm currently at work, I don't have access to the game or any screen capture software. So bear with me. But on Dxun when you go into the Mandalorian camp and you talk to Zuka (the computer guy that's having all sorts of problems getting things up and running) he'll be talking to you and then he'll go into his typing-on- the console animation and it totally looks like he's playing with my female PC's breasts. Coincidentally, this has only happened whenever I've played as a female. And I'm totally not kidding about that. This probably isn't even worth a thread, but I just thought to make light of something that's actually quite annoying.
  16. I played with Master Jedi Christ as well on my first playthrough. He really WAS Jesus with a lightsaber by the end of the game. :D But in all seriousness (if that's even possible), I played with that portrait because out of all the portraits, he just seemed more Jedi-like. He reminded me of Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon. And there was a white guy with long black hair? I only recall seeing the one Hispanic guy with long black hair. I don't remember seeing this at all. Also, the white guy with hardly any hair at all looks genuinely creepy on DS. That's why he's in my avatar.
