  1. Couldn't agree more. Taris was just much more alive, much more immersive. The problem with Peragus to me, was that it was symptomatic of the rest of the game - it had a canned, almost disconnected feel to it. So, yeah. My vote is Taris. The whole, mystery-being-hunted thing on Peragus was cool when it started out, but it soon wore thin as it became obvious that there was nothing to do there but leave.
  2. ...totally doesn't work. The concept was great. The potential was great. But it's implementation leaves a lot to be desired. When I first played the game, the Influence aspect of the game was one of the main things I wanted to see and experience. And, I have to admit, it's kind of cool to be able to sway a character to see things your way. But the problem is, that never really happens. I mean, you can see an NPC's light/dark meter go up or down depending on how much influence you have with him or her. But, as was pointed out by someone else on these boards in another thread, their behavior doesn't match their alignment. That's where the whole thing misses the mark, IMO. For example, if you are able to get Handmaiden's alignment all the way down to the bottom and have max influence over her, she shouldn't still react the same exact way she would when she was lightside. This forces you to act out of character to keep your "sway" over her, or just leave her on the ship altogether. This is just one example of how the game doesn't seem to live up to it's full potential and follow through on certain things. Perhaps if they had more time this would've put the game over the top.
  3. I sacrificed Visas my last DS playthrough. I had her equipped with a double-bladed lightsaber. And she just took that saber and jammed into her abdomen Last Samurai style. It was so R rated. The saber goes through Visas and comes out the other end. Then both she and Nihilus collapse, and you can commence a beat down on Nihilus that should last about 2-3 seconds. You then see Visas still barely alive, asking you if it worked. If her sacrifice was enough. And something about, my life for yours. And then you can respond by saying, "Do not speak to me anymore. Die now, lest you compound your weakness." And then she dies.
  4. This is kind of a panzy way of doing it, but I beat all five of them too, by just pushing them off of the mat. One of the rules was, if you leave the mat, you lose. The same rules applies to them as well. So, just run into them and push them. They become "friendly". After you push the last person off the mat, they just say something like, "You are well-trained. There will be no more fight today. We have learned much from you." And then, that's that. No new equipment or anything. You do get good XP, though.
  5. It would've been totally cool if you got Revan's robes and/or lightsaber or a top secret datapad that Revan or Bastila left to you or something like that in the Ebon Hawk's secret compartment. The stuff that you get now just sounds like stuff you can get in any plasteel cylinder anywhere.
  6. Yeah, you're right about the Carth video. I figure that's a separate thread. And thanks for the answer about T3. That made alot of sense. I guess the clues were there throughout the game about T3 units and their excessive individualism. I guess what the game was trying to tell you was that T3 made up his own mind about finding you. Brushing aside his first order which was to find Bastila or Carth first. But seeing her at the end just kind of threw me for a loop.
  7. I don't know if this has already been brought up, so if it has, my bad. But I just wanted to say something about the T3 video of Bastila. For those of you that are still wandering what you have to do to see it, you need to have an int of about 15+, and a com of about 15+. I found you didn't have to have a high rep stat, or even a high Influence with T3. If you're onboard the Ebon Hawk, and you have a high enough int stat, the dialogue option of accessing T3's memory core will pop up very early in the game. Like, the moment you leave Peragus. But you will have to have a high enough com skill to access it. The video just basically says (if you told Atton Revan was LS male) that Bastila respects T3 alot because he's been with her and Revan since Taris. And that Revan remembered something terrible that he did on the Outer Rim and that he was going off to confront it. He'll take T3 with him on this endeavor. She goes on to say that if something happens to Revan, or if he's even killed, that T3 must take the Ebon Hawk and return to the Republic to find her, or if he can't find her, then find someone, anyone, even a group of fighters, that can go to Revan's aid in his new struggle, because he's going to need all the help he can get. What's confusing to me is that towards the end of the game, you see Bastila again in Carth's office, wondering if the exile knew where Revan was. Well, my question is why didn't she just ask T3? Or better yet, if you watch the recording, why didn't T3 find Bastila like he was instructed to do? In the followup conversation you have with T3 after the recording, he tells you that he specifically sought you out because you are the only one that can stand by Revan and help him. And that everything you're going through now is secondary towards getting you to fight alongside Revan. So, did Revan himself send T3 back to get the exile? Or did T3 just take it upon himself to find you? And if that's the case, how did he know of you? Did he know you were going to be on the Harbinger? Or, did he in fact seek out Bastila first, and then SHE instructed T3 to find you. Which makes no sense at all since the game starts with the Ebon Hawk limping towards Peragus with a chunk missing out of it and a few dead bodies onboard. It would just make more sense if Bastila said in a second recording that she was going off to find Revan herself because she hadn't heard anything from T3. Much like she did in the Sith Academy holorecording if you said Revan was DS male. Maybe that recording would've been in the ruins of the Jedi Academy on Dantooine, or maybe Carth tells you of this when you talk to him after the Telos battle. Having Bastila physically there with Carth was nice to see and nostalgic, but really, if you saw the video, it didn't make much sense. Or did I just miss something?
  8. I was totally thinking about this last night while I was playing. I figured Jedi don't need to go to the bathroom. You know how Kreia teaches you that Force power to hold your breath? There's probably some sort of Force power that allows you to not pee as well. It's a midichlorian thing, I guess.
  9. I wish the opening crawl in k2 matched the friggin' music.
  10. Yet for those of us who grew up with crpg and pen-'n-paper games where 60% of the experience was "filling in the blanks" and using your own imagination to enhance the role-playing and make it come to life... well, I for one very much appreciate the way TSL is designed. And from reading all the different takes in the Spoiler and Storyline forums on what the ending and character storylines could possibly mean, and seeing how there are so many varying opinions and points of view being expressed in those threads, I think that the developers succeeded in one area that very few seem to recognize or even acknowledge - which is, allowing for the freedom to not only make a vast array of choices within the game, but for the player to invest their own imagination into it as well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, for what it's worth, I'm 29 So, I'm sure I'm old by the standard of these boards, too. But I just wanted to highlight what you said there because I thought it was so well-written and really drives the point home well. As I've said in other threads K1 was my first rpg experience and prompted me to go back and play BG, Icewind Dale, NWN, Morrowind, and Fable. And now, because of K1, I only really play RPGs now. Though I'm also a big fan of the Madden franchise as well. But the technique of having to use your imagination while playing is not only old school, but apart of the creative process in general. That's something that goes back to my childhood when I used to play Star Wars with my buddies in the backyard. Running around trying to save the galaxy from the evil empire. Or playing in whatever fantasy world we made up. We would just play for hours upon hours doing stuff like that. That's why I appreciated K1 so much. It like, took me back to a place where you just have fun with the experience of imagination. It was like you were shaping the way all things unfolded, and you were faced with moral decisions and consequences every step of the way. K2 took it a step further. But to me, it just lacked something. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game very much, and have played through it multiple times, but it just seemed to miss the mark a little. But, I really liked what you and Kal had to say. In fact, I've heard that the RPGs from yesteryear were hard as hell to finish and some of them had no quick fixes whatsoever. You really had to truly play through it to find out information or clues to complete a quest. And then you might not even find out that the quest was what you thought it was. And some of those quests would last for weeks. Now, THAT'S what I want to get into. So, for me, the standard as been set.
  11. Well, I don't recall Visas saying this in any of the games I've played through. But I think it's safe to say that I just found my new favorite line in either Kotor game. That's just awesome. PS. Now that I think of it, she may have said that But I don't recall the verbage being like that.
  12. I love Sion's voice. He did a great job. And I'm not sure, but I think the girl that did the voice of Handmaiden did Imoen's voice in BG2: SoA. They sound alot alike. Of course, i could just look it up, but I'm too lazy.
  13. I have no interest in Republic Commando whatsoever. I'm not a big fan of FPSs. That's why I didn't go ga-ga over the Halo games like everyone else did. I am, however, a huge fan for RPGs. And that's why I had a few problems with this game - until I played it DS that is. The game just didn't seem to live up to the scope and depth of the first game. But you know what? I'm starting to believe that had i never played K1 and only played K2, I'd probably be raving about this game, being kinda new to the whole RPG thing. I would have nothing to compare it to. For me, K1 was my first experience with RPGs. Now, every single RPG I ever play again will undoubtedly be compared to that. Kind of s****y, but that's what happens when you deliver such an awesome game as K1 was.
  14. Yeah, you'll find a note on Korriban from him, telling you he went shopping. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> By the way, I keep getting conflicting info on the T3 video. Some folks say that you need an int of +15 while others say you only need to make sure your rep and com skills are +15. I was just wondering, which is true?
  15. It's not that the mods or anyone else is trying to hide anything, it's that they (along with me, who I might add, is quite tired of these K3 threads), are just trying their best to quash rumors. I just need to say this: I'm tired of all the K3 crap. I seriously propose moving anything about k3 to the RPG fora. I for one would like to discuss K2. That game has only been out for a little over a month and the PC and international version hasn't even been released yet. So, THAT'S why it's totally and completely ridiculous to be talking about K3. I mean, there's people on these boards that haven't even played K2 yet. For God's sake, let's wait a few months before we start the rampant speculation about K3. Oh, wait. Too, late.
  16. I just bought the first six episodes of this on DVD over the weekend and I'm totally hooked. I'm glad I bought it and I can't wait to see the other twenty episodes. Great writing, good story, and well-developed characters. I'm all over this. "Launch Eva!" I figured I'll come here and ask questions about the series and the movie if I ever get confused on something or another, which I'm sure I will. If anyone even cares, that is. Anyway, I just felt like sharing that.
  17. Here's one example of extra stuff: Male PC; This might sound like a wierd request, but do you know any Echani poetry? Handmaiden: (something about seeing you exhilerating her). You are the MAIN focus of my life (except for my melee weapons and armor) I love you so. Male PC: That is the wierdest thing I have ever heard. You Echani have some serious problems. *** Female PC: How about you stop staring at my chest? Atton: Hi, I'm Atton Rand. I wasn't supposed to make it into the final game. I was originally created for a spinoff to Jedi Knight, but my manager messed it up. But let's not talk about THAT incident. (that's not verbatim, btw)
  18. "You are the MAIN focus of my life (except for my melee weapons and armor). I love you so." I can't remember what the first part of the poem was like. But it's my favorite moment of the game.
  19. That is so right on. I've played K1 i don't know how many times, and I could play it again today and have just as much playing it today as I did when I first got it. But with K2 - meh. Unless I'm playing DS, then it's a funner gaming experience, IMO.
  20. I dunno about three development teams at Obsidian. I mean, that just sounds expensive for the company at this stage of the game. Obsidian is off to a great start with KOTOR 2 in the eyes of the video gaming industry, but they are still a fledgedling company, ya know? IMO, it makes sense that they started off with a KOTOR game. Instant name recognition and a worldwide following with the Star Wars license. To follow that game up with NWN 2 made even more sense to me. And I think after the success of NWN 2, Obsidian will the have the forthwithal to take on a third or fourth game that will be their own IP, while hiring another team to work on another licensed project. It just makes good business sense. Do a couple no-misses that are safe with huge international fan bases to get your feet planted solidly on the ground, and then go off and do your own thing. I think Obisidian's going to be around for a good long while.
  21. This happened to me. You have to physically take control of Bao-Dur and then walk up to your PC and talk to him/her. Then he'll talk to you. Try that with Kreia as well. It's an annoying bug. But if this persists, then, yeah...take the game back.
  22. I've already said this in a different thread, but personally, I'd like the next PC to be a Sith Apprentice starting out on some Sith world somewhere. You'd have the option of joining the jedi or whatnot, but it'd be cool and different to start off the game from the Sith POV.
