  1. Aurora, I just wanted to drop a quick line and say that I think you and your team are doing a great job. I don't know anything about moding or anything, but from what I've seen on your site, that must take alot of time and effort. And the fact that you all are taking the time to restore the game to what it should be, without getting paid or any job offers or trying to get fame or notoriety or anything of that sort, is just really cool. The game looks awesome from what I've seen so far. You PC gamers are in for a real treat. Keep up the great work! And thanks for doing this!
  2. That's actually what I was just thinking. Especially for the amount of time it took to release it.
  3. Does it have any missing content or anything? Strange that neither OE or LA made an official announcement or anything.
  4. Where did you hear that the patch was going to be doing all of these wonderful things? The patch, unless something has changed, is only going to be fixing all the technical issues. There's a mod that's currenlty being done by a poster named Aurora and her team that has nothing to do with OE or LA that will restore all the missing content and stuff. So, I'm confused as to where you heard this info about the patch doing all of this great stuff. As far as I know, it isn't.
  5. Everyone that reads this thread. please read the above post about 8 or 9 times before posting. I mean, how many times must this be said? Chris Avellone himself has already said, the patch will only fix the bugs. That's it. The patch will only fix technical issues. The patch will only fix technical issues. The patch will only fix technical issues. The patch will only fix technical issues. The patch will only fix technical issues. Also, the patch will only fix technical issues. Edit: The patch will only fix technical issues.
  6. Man, I've gotta say that that 1up.com review was very simply, the most uneven and pretentious review I think I've ever read. It was like reading one long run-on sentence. Almost like it was written by someone from here. :D I usually don't read reviews before I play a game or even see a movie because I want to go in with an unbiased view. So, as I said over at the BioWare forums, I'll reserve my judgement until I play the game.
  7. I've said this before in another thread but just to reiterate: I don't ever wanna see the Exile again. I don't care one lick about the character and have no ties to him/her whatsoever. It is possible that I may have felt differently for the character if the story was more complete and the relationships with the NPCs was more developed. But as it stands right now, the Exile is a flawed character that occupied a flawed game that leaves way too much ambiguity for my tastes. I'm all about completing Revan's story. Which BioWare thought they did because its pretty obvious that K1 was not meant to have a sequel. And I don't know why we cant play as Revan again, seeing as how you played as Kyle Katarn a couple times. There's ways to do it but I wouldn't envy the development company that gets the contract to develop a K3. WAY too many loose ends to tie up. And way too many fans that will be looking at that said development company through a microscope, waiting to pounce on the first bit of info they get and then complain loudly about it.
  8. I voted for Lord of the Rings: TTA.
  9. I've only ever played the Xbox version so I don't know if the PC version is different or not but, how is it you're encountering Darth Bandon on Korriban if that's the second planet you go to? IIRC, you only encountered Bandon after the fourth planet you visited. If Korriban is the second planet, I thought you should encounter Calo Nord first. But then again I've never gone to Korriban second so maybe you do face Bandon first if that's the second planet you go to. I dunno.
  10. Okay, now this is a line spoken by Obi-Wan towards the end of Revenge of the Sith when he goes to talk to Padme about Anakin. My question is, since I'm not familiar with the EU...WTF???? You mean to tell me that 25,000 years BBY the Sith ruled the galaxy?? That throws the entire Star Wars timeline into question, IMO. So, for the sake of KOTOR and continuity, DOES this mean that the Rakata and the true Sith were working together? I mean, was the Infinite Empire actually the ORIGINAL Sith Empire? Or were the true Sith actually the ones behind the Infinite Empire? I mean, according to George Lucas himself, the Sith ruled the entire galaxy before the formation of the Republic based on what we are finding out from ROTS. I thought that the Sith were a primitive warrior-like race that lived on Korriban unknown to the galaxy until the original exiled Jedi stumbled onto them well after the Republic was established. The Sith Empire was forged by the Sith Lords, who were the Dark Jedi that set themselves up as gods amongst the native Sith. The Jedi had no idea what a Sith even was until Naga Sadow and the Great Hyperspace War. Am I wrong on that? I think Lucas just pulled another one of his re-writing the timeline the way he sees fit kind of things. Which is cool and all, its his universe, but damn, that really screws up the timeline and just about everything else that has been written. Unless I'm reading this wrong.
  11. Or Fallout, which I think used some sort of bottlecaps or something like that.
  12. I for one started a thread similar to this one over in the RPG single player forum. I stated over there that PC gaming is not for me because I don't jive with the constant upgrading and crashes that you get with PC gaming. But I also acknowledged that playing games on my computer is much more intimate and immersive and addictive as hell. So I can see why alot of people prefer PC gaming. But I have to say as a console guy that occasionally plays games on his computer, that I get upset when they release an incomplete and flawed game on the console, only to release a spruced up version with extra content and tons of other goodies on the PC a year or so later. BUT ONLY ON THE PC. That's just crap, IMO. I feel totally ripped off when that happens. Heck, I'd be raising hell right now about Fable doing that if I wasn't so apathetic about the title. But it happens alot. More to the point of this thread though, I think another poster pretty much hit the nail on the head when he/she said its all about money. PC gaming seems to be geared more towards an older market, whereas consoles are geared more towards younger people and kids. And lets face it, that's where all the money is. Why else would Obsidian and LucasArts rush KOTOR 2 out for Christmas, but wait unitl February to release the PC version?
  13. I can't WAIT for this game! Seriously. I mean, BioWare, RPG. First game since KOTOR. Nuff said (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)
  14. I would have to disagree with alot of people on here saying that if you liked the first game to buy the second game. No, quite the contrary. If you DIDN'T really care for the first game, then yes, buy this one. I say that because the games couldn't be more different in feel and tone. Yes, the game is glitchy and incomplete and yes, it starts off boring and ends horribly. But there's a whole middle section in there that's really fun and engrossing. That is, IF YOU DID NOT LIKE THE FIRST GAME. I can't stress that enough. K2 has aboslutely nothing to do with the first game. And I have to tell you that all of the effort and work you're putting into K1 won't make a lick of difference in K2 regardless of how you end K1. And you're probably enjoying K1 alot because it feels like Star Wars. K2 doesn't feel anything like Star Wars. That's why I said if you didn't like the first game buy this one. Because if you're looking to build on the feeling you're experiencing now with K1, you just won't get it with K2. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game and I personally enjoyed it, but it really does miss the mark. Also, you'll probably see alot of posts on here saying that their game never crashed and that they never experienced any problems. THEY ARE THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE. Nearly every single website and publication out there that covers videogames has said this game is buggy as hell. So just bear that in mind. So all that being said, I would have to recommend, since it sounds like you're really enjoying K1 alot, to pass on K2. Wait for the inevitable K3, because I have a feeling you can go straight from 1 to 3 without missing a beat because #2 was so incomplete.
  15. I just saw on the front page that OE is looking for talented designers for an upcoming unannounced project. Any guesses as to what this new project is??? I'm really hoping it's not K3, btw. But I'm totally intrigued.
  16. Yes, the sheer amount of talent and genious I used in putting this together in photshop is nigh inconcievable. It really takes a man to know his way around the vastly complex and bewildering copy&paste function. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh. Well it wouldn't have surprised me if you had actually drawn it. I really have seen some talented people on here just the same.
  17. I agree 100%. Like I said above, there was a time for it. In college everyone has one. Girls have no problem with it, as they aren
  18. Damn. You've got alot of talent, man. Come to think of it, alot of people on here are really talented. That was great!
  19. I've tried to get into PC gaming. I really have. I've gone out and bought all of the classics put out by Interplay and BIS. I've gotten Fallout 1 and 2, Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 (including the expansions), Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights, including all of the mods that came with it. By the way, I'd like to add real quick that I'm living proof that you can get all of these oldies LEGALLY and legitimately here in the US by just going to Amazon.com. There's no need to download the games or anything like that. I don't know where the proceeds go, but for anyone looking for these classics, I would recommend just going to Amazon.com, or any other legit website to just order them. They're out there and it doesn't take any effort to find them. And they're cheap. I bought PS:T and Soulbringer, along with FO 1 and 2 all in one big pack for like 8 bucks US through Amazon.com. They also have specials for BG 1 & 2 and IWD 1 & 2. So, if anyone is looking, they're there. Anyway, I digress. My point is, though the games themselves are addictive as hell and I can see why they are so revered, the whole operation (and believe me, it is an operation) of playing games on the PC is taxing and tiresome for me. Mostly because I have a computer that is not designed for PC gaming. It has a pretty cheap video card and not that much memory. But that's kind of my point. Since I've been playing all of these games I've had to acquaint myself with such terms as "updating my sound and graphics drivers". Studying up on Radeon. REALLY getting to know my computer to determine what it can and can not handle, and ultimately, what needs to be upgraded. Since my computer is about two years old, none of the really old games are a problem. But when I started trying to get into some of the newer games, I started experiencing problems. I mean, things were going pretty well, although NWN had serious framerate issues on my PC until I learned I had to upgrade certain things and certain drivers and make sure I had the most current version Direct X running . But then came Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. I really thought my computer was going to detonate right there on my desktop. It just could not handle this. I don't know how many times the game would just crash back to the desktop. When I bought it, the first thing the guy at the store told me was: "Dude. Make sure you run the update. Before you do anything. I'm serious. The minute the installation is complete, run the update." I never even had a chance to run the update because right after it was done installing, it kept crashing back to the desktop. So, frusterated, I uninstalled it and took it back. There are other games as well. World of Warcraft, the upcoming Matrix Online, and other PC games that I just don't think my PC can handle. And even it could, I find that PC gamers are in a constant state of flux. YOU HAVE TO KEEP UPGRADING. No matter how powerful your computer is, you have to make sure it stays that way every single year, or else you won't be able to play the newest games. Especially now. Where developers are REALLY pushing specs to make the game look all pretty and require a TON OF MEMORY to run it. Some of those high-end video cards out there are incredibly expensive. And that's just to play games today. Those high-end video cards will be practically useless in a year or two when the new generation games come out. How lame is that? Call me old school, but with my Xbox, all I have to do is turn it on, put the game in and play it. That's it. No updating my sound and graphics drivers. No getting the newest video cards or purchasing more memory (although you can do that but it's not a requirement to play the games), no waiting for a patch, and no crashing back to the desktop. PC gaming just must be an acquired taste. A taste apparently, I just don't have.
  20. After all of my playthroughs, this is something that I have never been able to really figure out. Where DID Kreia come from. Basically, the way that I know the story is that, the Exile was brought onboard the Harbinger to go to Telos. While he/she was there, he/she was drugged by the HK-50 droid who is secretly working for the Exchange. This renders the Exile unconscious. Shortly thereafter, the Harbinger receives a distress call from a freighter under attack by a Sith warship. The Harbinger then goes to investigate. They find the freighter, which is the Ebon Hawk, abandoned and crippled with everyone onboard dead. The Sith warship that was pursuing it was also empty. Or so it appeared. So, the Harbinger brings the Hawk onboard for further investigation. But while this is going on, the Sith Assassins who were wearing Stealth Field Generators and were hiding onboard the Hawk, began laying waste to the crew of the Harbinger. They of course were being led by Darth Sion. At this point, the HK-50 droid takes his bounty, the unconscious Exile, onboard the Ebon Hawk to try to escape the Sith. But during their escape attempt, the Harbinger fires on the Hawk causing great damage, which is how we see the Hawk at the beginning of the game. But at no point, at least from everything I saw and read, was it explained where Kreia came from. She was just there onboard the Hawk. I assumed she came from the Sith warship, but that makes no sense whatsoever. Unless of course she and Sion were working together all along to try and find the Exile. We know they were both looking for him/her. But we also know that one of Kreia's goals is to put down Sion for his betrayal of her. So I'm still confused about where Kreia came from to this day.
  21. God*****, I can't stop laughing. I think I'm gonna die.
  22. I don't know if anyone on here is as dumb as me to do this, but try playing through K1 and K2 at the same time. You get a good side-by-side comparison. When you do that, you really SEE both games for what they are. In doing this, I must say that for me...it's finally settled. K1 is without a doubt, the superior game. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN I DIDN'T ENJOY THE HELL OUT OF K2. Because I did. Heck, I wouldn't have played through K2 as many times as I have if I didn't like it and enjoy it. But K1 was just Star Wars. Everything about it. The music, the characters, the FEEL of it...everything....it was Star Wars. And not the New Age George Lucas, Jar Jar Binks and Special Edition Star Wars. But the Star Wars that we all know and love. The Star Wars that people in my generation grew up to. It was Star Wars the way that it was meant to be. And that's what made that game work. K2 on the other hand was not. K2 was trying way to hard. And also, playing Torment for the first time, I can see what OE was trying to do with it. It's one thing to try to have a darker tone and try something new, but it's another thing to take the material and remove it out of it's context, so that you have a project that's much more suitable as a stand-alone original work, rather than a Star Wars product. That's why I've said I can't wait to see what OE is really capable of doing. I'd like to see them do their own projects and steer clear of a possible K3. I want to see them do their own things. If they did that, then I would be geeked to see what they are truly capable of producing. Yes, K2 had a deeper story that made you think about morals and what a Jedi and Sith really are when you strip away the Force and leave only the person there. The writers posed some really interesting questions that worked really well for an RPG. But, my whole thing was, the linear storyline of K1 FIT PERFECTLY WITH STAR WARS. Guys (and gals), name a single, solitary thing that was deep and complex about the original trilogy. Not a thing. It was about as Saturday morning cliche as you can get. And that's why they are still celebrated today. Now compare them to the prequels. Where Lucas introduced all of this convoluted political talk and midichlorians and the Chosen One, and the taxation of trade routes and blah, blah, blah.... See a pattern here? Less is more. Something that K2 was sorely lacking.
  23. I'm a moderate. For me Star Wars is a sentimental thing. I love the movies but my knowledge of anything Star Wars outside of the movies is very limited. I don't know anything about the EU. I don't collect the action figures, I've never read any of the novels or the comics, and I've never attended a convention or dressed up as a Star Wars character at one of the movie premieres. I did, however, dress up as Darth Maul for Holloween a few years ago. Oh, and I do own the Darth Sidious action figure from Episode I because I think it's f****ing cool. But other than that, it's pretty scant. I own a couple posters that I think are going to be worth something some day, possibly. But that's it. So, I'm definitely a geek. But I don't consider myself a full-blown Star Wars nerd. Not yet anyway.
