  1. The example of a flaming sword can up in the callofcthulhu twitch today. So josh said the flaming sword will be the flaming sword in the game (implying the only one) which is fine but what if you find that weapon early in the game. Does this mean in the late game the sword will be useless because it can be enchanting to keep up? I mean if you cant find another flaming sword why not let players upgrade it. sorry not a narrative or lore question. Didnt read the post before i wrote
  2. I would like to hear more about this from obsidian.
  3. Stealth is a system i hope that work on POE2. I dont love the detectable radius. It seem like the more stealth you have the closer you should get without any detection.
  4. I think it makes perfect since you are not one thing in these games you have friends and enemies and everything between. So ye for some you may be benevolent and to another you maybe cruel or lie. I am not saying this was perfect system but it was more enjoyable than hey i am always good and virtuous and perfect and i am always bad and hateful and lying.
  5. Boooo petless ranger . I am sure this will become the default ranger build for most but i just cant. Maybe the other ranger sub has even better pet ability probably more likely double down on ranged attack. I actually have been running my ranger in melee recently in POE1 and i like that better. Here's to hoping the sub has some ability that is not ranged specific only.
  6. I'm not even sure if many of the backers aware of this reduction. It was not revealed anywhere in the figstarter other than the most recent PCG interview article and on a german tweet. They took this change fiercely and shoot down this question everytime it arises (in both twitch QnA session, tweets and comments). I'd guess the real reason behind it and it's not the simple reason that they have provided. Time will tell and all the folks here we shall see. I didnt get that they shot down the question they seem to be answering the question multiple times in multiple formats. Maybe the answers arent satisfying but they are answering the question
  7. This is from Feargus on Fig for the impatient ones on here: Here hoping they keep the stretch goal nice and simple and not to crazy like some on here want. i am sure there are good stuff planned already for the game since it been in dev for a year. I just dont get why stretch goals are so important. The game and story and content is what is important not the stretch goals.
  8. i actually did not enjoy the white march content as much as the main game, still fun. I haven't finished it. I enjoy a hard encounter here and there but not whole areas basically becoming a dungeon crawl. I also didnt think the story had many choices in it. It feels like no matter what you do you help stalwart which is weird to me. Why does every choice end up helping them. So you talk or kill the ogres, talk or kill the Iron Flail, clear the mine, start the white forge, all helps the stalwart. the side content was interesting. I still enjoyed it just not as much as the main game and part of that was that there were to many encounters. Its fine that they are hard just dont have one ever two feet and its not that i couldnt beat the encounters i just didnt want to after a while.
  9. We got a slight answer from josh in the stream and i quote "Bashing is not suppose to be crappy". They said they were looking though
  10. Wait what? I've missed this, are weapon focuses now just for one kind of weapon, like Weapon Focus: Greatsword, Weapon Focus: Pistol etc.? That seems like a bad idea that will either make in necessary to place far more different weapons in the game like you say or people will have to wait for lists to be made for all the loot available in the game before they can make a decision on what weapon focus to take, instead of a system like in PoE were you can really take any weapon focus and be fine. Its not going to give accuracy like focus though. They said it would unlock a module that does something special with that weapon.
  11. Not necessarily. There are games that do their own "achievement" system, completely independent from any online service. It's just that using Steam/Galaxy to do that for you, is easier. All that an achievement does is at a predetermined point in the game, it turns a 0 into a 1 and displays an uplifting "You go, chap!" message. You don't need the internet for that. ye that would be better.
  12. I dont care for this goal but its just not for me because i dont care about achievements. If this is low hanging fruit for them and users are into achievements then i dont see the issue. The online thing is assumed because achievements are site based things so you have to be on gog galaxy or steam client and online to get them. So for instance i am on steam but play offline and i get no achievements. In fact steam shows i havent completed the game but i have multiple times but the achievement is still grey. I just dont like playing online with the steam client
  13. Berath is female now? I always thought that it was intentionally unclear like "In Eír Glanfath's ruins, Berath is depicted in the form of two semi-skeletal figures - one male, one female - Bewnen i Ankew and Ankew i Bewnen - literally, Life in Death and Death in Life in the Glanfathan tongue. Male and female, inside and outside, life and death - we often think of Berath by imagining two sides of coin, or the two end points of a journey. Berath always had a female incarnation the Pallid Knight: "The Pallid Knight" is a manifestation of Berath that has appeared in legends as a gaunt female knight with black armor and hair, and "milk-pale" skin. In the legends the knight appears to someone that has escaped or cheated death, and demands an impossible toll for travelling her lord's road for too long. The person either surrenders, or fights the knight and kill themselves in the process, or flee from him to stumble upon the Usher. This is actually one my role plays as a Female Pale Elf Berath Priest. Glad there will be tie in.
  14. They have mentioned they would have opt in monster level scaling at the beginning of the game. I think he mentioned they would scale within a range so not oblivion style. I believe this info is from the last stream
  15. i actually really liked the health system also in POE1 however one drawback that i did see was traps. Traps ended up have to be twisted all up because they couldnt really hurt the player since they really only caused health damage and not endurance damage (since endurance went right back up). So you ended up with traps that would cause you huge amounts of damage but only a tiny bit of damage if you laid the same trap. But even with that you were fine for the next fight.
  16. It is a no brainer that more companions would be nice to have, but you have a fixed amount of money to spend on writing. If you add one companion, you have a new story, and the dialog to support it, that lasts the length of the game. Also, if you have n companions, you have to write n(n-1) inter-companion interactions (so interactions grow proportional to the square of the number of companions). It's a choice between deep companions or more companions rather than between deep companions and more deep companions. I don't have a good sense of the cost of a companion relative to the cost of the game as a whole; I would be interested to know that if anybody with game development experience would like to say something about it. Deeper companions works if they get it right. I would prefer more as to me and my xp with CRPGs they miss on most of them. So I like the replay value. Plus more NPCs fuels my constant restart mode. I'm not sure more companions means more replay value. If to make more companions they all have no side quest and just little blurbs about their life then what is the point. just make mercenaries from the inns. If you want more companions and they are each really deep connected to the story then the issue is just a limitation of the the writing and schedule and it just not going to happen it seems. It would be nice with more companions if they have time to write them in more interesting ways which is their stated goal for the ones they are going to write but i dont need a bunch of npcs that don't connect to anything and have just some little one paragraph story joining me i can just hire them.
  17. Well something to keep in mind with some of these post is that the base class will be just as good as the sub classes. So for each class (except priest and paladins) there will be three classes to choose from. So for example i dont like the new ranger subclass ghost knight but who cares i can role a regular ranger (pending the other unmentioned sub class) and it should be just as powerful. At least that is the goal. It is hard to look past the new shinny objects sometimes but the old standbys are supposed to be just as good.
  18. If i remember right this was a design goal of POE1 that you could find weapon you like and use it until the end by updating the enchantment. I wonder what changed about this goal? It seem perfectly reasonable to me to find cool gear and try to make it useful for the whole game.
