There is a thread i think talks about the real issue in general. I wonder if this is due to multiclassing and the need to be pragmatic about testing and balancing, now single classes have to suffer because if you want certain functions the game is telling you, you have to multiclass. In one since this feels like they went back on the design philosophy of viable character builds that you come up with. So it seems now if you come up with a character concept you have to find the class to match instead of POE1 where if you like the class lore and abilities you could morph them into different roles and different concepts. But i do get that multiclassing was meant to fix this issue. This is also why i dont really like multiclassing because it feel forced now and the one class i am really worried about multiclassing is ranger due to animal maybe not being strong enough later in game but that can be balanced also. I am sure i will prob find it fun. it just odd. it did look like there was a lot of animal abilities in the twitch stream i saw and we also dont see the high level abilities so there are those left also

I was wondering about this from the twitch backer beta video i watched. I suppose they want you to multiclass to get the other talents but it does hurt a little that single classes are less flexible. The real class i am worried about is the ranger. I want to single class ranger all the way because i am not sure how the animal will hold up late in game being nerfed by multiclass but that means i may be locked in to certain build because classes are not flexible but it may turn out alright. Overall the twitch stuff looked fun.

I am a little bummed with the lack of universal abilities. It was one of the things that made classes versatile. Like making an off tank wizard. I get that most of that was the great buff spells but some of that was just straight defensive talents you could take. I suppose they expect you to multiclass to achieve this stuff now so maybe its ok but would be still nice give more flexibility to single class builds that was a bright spot for POE1

Split Health/Stamina
draego replied to desel's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Check out Ellohime's twitch stream from last night. you can go to him fighting and falling a lot in battle to see how it works. I too was skeptical about this change but doesnt seem to bad. I mean its more punishing to keep going with injuries but it may be fine. -
Character creation for chanter says 'Animal Companion' when you go to select an invocation here. wanted to feel like i was contributing without beta but you guys were in that stream already. oh well.

How to travel to caed nuir?
draego replied to LawfulGood's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Because if you have not been there before you actually have to travel across each map between you and the destination. So to get to caed nua you have to go through either margans fork or esternwood. then travel to the black meadow. Then go to caed nua. To figure out where you can travel you need to go to each exist on a map (north, south, east, weast) and leave the map and usually a new map will open up to travel to. Once you travel to a map then you can fast travel there without going across each map -
I already started upgrading my pc for Christmas so just in time.

I don’t mind 2d prerendered background but it is limiting for devs. I do find rotatable camera in top down games frustrating but as Josh mentioned there is nothing stopping devs from making isometric view with 3D assets. Starcraft2 and Civ5 are good examples of 3D isometric games. Nice thing about prerendered is that it doesn’t tax your computer that much. But for anything above my crappy laptop moving to 3D should open new possibilities. What is easier from dev point of view however - I have no idea. I bet if the art direction in DOS was more pillars than I would find the overall look just better. I am sure my judgement is clouded by the stylized look of DOS.

I am not sure what the issue is. The 2D art in pillars looks better than DOS2 to me. The camera can be annoying in full 3D iso also like in DOS2. I guess if game dev cycle is faster that is one reason to switch. I mean DOS2 look nice maybe if Obsidian did the same with a more grounded fantasy look i would think differently so it could be hard to compare.
