  1. Never really played Pathfinder but I've started getting interested in it some time ago and was waiting for a steep discount. Now I'm a bit torn between backing wrath of the righteous for 43$ and get both (base) games or taking advantage of the discount gog sent me for imperial edition, and just enjoy the first with its expansions, without contributing to the campaign. Any thought from someone who played the game (e.g. "Skip the expansions, they suck")?
  2. Same here, I picked Ocean Folks as racee and now i find myself as a spirit, the bonus seems to be correct and the description is for Ocean Folks with an added snippet from Spirit.
  3. Finally I'll start my second playthrough with SSS and Forgotten Sanctum. I think I'll go rtwp mode since the action economy in TB is still the same as beta.
  4. I don't know if you are talking about this somewhere else but Avellone working on a SW game (from Respawn) is pretty interesting. He also mentions some kind of announcement for a game next month. https://twitter.com/ChrisAvellone/status/1101372911502319616
  5. Thinking about initiative (and bearing in mind that I don't actually know completely how it works since I've only seen low level combat) I was asking myself why they had the initiative "reset" in each round (or better said set on the weapon/ability initiative stat) instead of having initiative add up round after round, this way a fast character in the long run would get more actions. Is it something wrong with that system that I can't see? Am I bad at math? (not that I need someone to answer "yes" to this :D) Edit: If rounds are actually resolved within a predetermined amount of initiative points aren't our worries about having only one action for both fast and slow characters unnecessary? I mean, a very slow character would "skip" a round.
  6. I have noticed that prone moves the enemy at the end of the round order, it's also possible that it adds some initiative so it moves him further down the list with the possibility that he may or may not be last. Anyway, I don't feel initiative to be as important as recovery is in main game, especially for martial classes, but it may be important for casters as it allows the cast to end earlier. Edit: The less relevance of recovery/initiative seems to affect really bad the fast weapon with low damage plus dual wield, that was already quite good, now is even better since you attack twice every round. There's even less of a point going with only a single-hand weapon like a duelist would.
  7. PCGamer now also posted the news and most people in the comments expressed the willingness to play or buy Deadfire now that will have TBC. The "sample size" is small but it may have a significance among RPG's players.
  8. In the techraptor's article posted by infinitron the turn based mode have a "beta" tag on it. So I suppose they're still not sure about how much they are done with it.
  9. Apparently from the 24th of January we'll be able to play turn based mode. https://www.pcgamesn.com/pillars-of-eternity-2/pillars-of-eternity-2-turn-based Edit: A quote from the article
  10. Ahem, line 3 in the first list of the OP... Wow, I really am blind :D
  11. Pc Gamer also have awarded a "Best RPG" to Deadfire. https://www.pcgamer.com/best-rpg-2018-pillars-of-eternity-2-deadfire/
  12. Sorry for the misunderstanding I'm on regular too https://i.postimg.cc/JnmS5tYL/Untitled.jpg
  13. My game on galaxy is on this version, have you checked if you are in the default branch instead of the beta one?
  14. I'm really happy for this and eager to try it out but to make it work a lot of changes are needed to the rules and even after fixing that many combat encounters would strech for an unbearable amount of time if the number of NPCs (most of the time enemies) stays the same, I find unlikely that they'll rebalance all encounters for this mode. Edit: I don't know if someone already posted this somewhere else but it seems something else might have been slipped out https://old.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/a82h4r/new_ship_combat_ui/
  15. Bits of gameplay on PCGamer https://www.pcgamer.com/obsidians-the-outer-worlds-blends-firefly-and-fallout-into-a-bold-open-ended-sci-fi-rpg/ Have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed by the setting, I expected something less futuristic and "Neon". Also the clothing and armors look a bit out of place. I have to say that while I'm confident about the gameplay and RPG aspect of the game I'm also concerned about the gunplay/shooting mechanics, it's hard to get it right (even more in RPGs) and not feel stiff and clunky.
  16. So, is it possibile that Microsoft made the move and bought Obsidian because it wanted this game and was looking for exclusives for its console? I don't know much about corporate buyouts, I suppose they could've shown Microsoft what they were working on?
  17. Already hyped, count me in for a '50s (?) sci-fi in space rpg. I'm going to try and stay up for the reveal (Game Awards starts at 2.30 am for central europe :/) Edit: I like this artwork so much
  18. Great update, hype train starting for DLC3 and new sub-classes. In other terms, I don't care that much for it but I expected some news on a revamp of the ship combat system, I remember some official words on Josh helping to shape it.
  19. I'm happy for the employees but it's also sad that one of the few mid sized indipendent software house that develops isometric RPGs will be part of Microsoft. I'm really not worried for short terms, they'll probably have the freedom to do a couple more RPGs their way (maybe even isometric), I'm worried that the soul of the company will lessen in the long run and that we'll not play other good Obsidian rpgs. Also, while I'm not against other types of RPGs like other people are, I'd still want to see an isometric one every now and then. On the market platform side of the thing, I'll definetly not going to use windows store, I'm sad that GOG is probably out of question, because it's my favourite store by a long run, I'd settle for steam. Edit: Thinking about it, what's up with buying both obsidian and inxile? They fill the same niche. They wanted the IPs of both companies? They plan to merge them?
  20. As others had said I really recommend the first one if you liked Gothic 1/2. Risen 2 tried to refresh their games with both settings and rules/progression (being the same since first Gothic...), I liked it but I cannot say it's a great game, really liked the third one though, they've improved on the technical hurdles and awful combat of the second and mixed the setting between pirate-y and Risen 1's more standard fantasy. All in all if you like the genre, you don't mind the technical limitation of those games and considering how cheap they can be when discounted, definitely play them, especially one and three.
  21. My problem with the DLC not starting was a patching issue with GOG Galaxy (probably my fault, I was still in the beta branch and the release build was different from the beta one).
  22. Probably I couldn't explain myself sufficiently enough, you know, language barrier :D The problem is that D&D/Pathfinder are rules made for pen and paper and I think that is inevitable that many of their mechanics will work atrociously in a computer RPG. Random is in every rpg? Sure, that doesn't mean that it works in the same way with the same ranges and probability, D&D/Pathfinder at low levels is a miss fest with one hit kills when luck comes around. Not a big problem when around a table with friends I' d say, but alone in front of a monitor... Some people may like it but I don't find it fun. Thank god this game seems to have other perks beside the (for me) un enjoyable combat, I just hope that it won't have a lot of trash fights and maybe get a little better at higher levels.
  23. I don't think there's really difficulty in Pathfinder as far as I've played, it's just badly balanced added to mechanics that are either frustrating or poor fit for a CRPG, a battle can end up with your party wiped in 3 secs or without a scratch, randomly. It's a shame because I'm liking many other things about the game.
