Tried Gothic 1 remake demo. A couple of things in the UI are really annoying: - No pause in menus, so have to save far away from monsters. - Subtitles appear at the same speed as spoken dialogue, so you actually have to listen to the bloody thing to know what's being said. Can't see myself playing the full game if they at least don't fix the latter one. The first one I could maybe deal with, if the rest of the game is really good.2 points

Yes, something like that. Of course I would be very happy if that's not what happened and we'll get PoE3.1 point

1. Upgrade Java version on server 2. Service dies 3. Find out the path to the JRE is hardcoded. 4. Have to create a JRE 6 folder in some folder with a guy's name in it. 5. Start searching for new job.1 point

We made ribs yesterday as well but it was a rack of baby back ribs and we made them in a crock pot. Well first we baked them in the oven for 15 minutes to get a "crust" on the outside then a couple hours in the pot. Turned out fall off the bone good. That and I could put Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce on a flip flop and it would be delicious.1 point

Thanks, Boeroer. Helpful to be redirected towards quarterstaff (I'd forgotten that rods/wands/scepters weren't great outside of Wizards in PoE). Also good to have my impression about priest subclasses' general sameness confirmed, even if it's a bit disappointing compared to Deadfire. What do you think of a 14/10/16/10/16/12 stat spread for a midline staff-whacking Priest?1 point

I would like to make clear something: I know that there are real life people out there who look approximately, in terms of real features and clothing/hair style, like the character depicted above, and other characters that you can see in official screenshots from this game. Somebody who looks like the totality of this character probably wouldn't draw a second thought from me in real life - I might not personally love their style, I might not find them particularly easy on the eyes or cute or beautiful or whatever, but that's a me problem, that's fine, I obviously understand that the appearances of characters and real life people in general should not and could not ever be specifically tailored to me. The specific issue is the "approximately" bit and how damned creepy it is seeing these horrible video game renders that somehow make them look so much weirder than they should, and it's why I always try to make sure to use the word "uncanny" instead of anything more pejorative like "ugly*". I searched for "inzoi characters" before I made my previous post and looked through a few pages of results, and I do not believe basically any person would be rendered well in this game's visual style - though there were some that seemed to be a little more and a little less bad than the others. All I can really say is...kill it with fire. *Though any game where every character looks like they have lip gloss on is always going to be an automatic no from me dawg, because there might very well be nothing on a human face I like less than big wet shiny lips, but again, that's a me problem...and it's also not even necessarily specific to just female characters: I've happened across random Korean and Chinese games on Steam Discovery game queues where this affects even male characters, and it's why I knew Inzoi was likely to be either a Korean or Chinese game.1 point

Deadfire only has <DefaultText /> and <FemaleText /> entries in all it's .stringtable files. Which are used for reactivity to the player's choice of gender in character in creation. Interestingly there is a "Neuter" gender in both Pillars of Eternity games. But is only ever used by creatures and maybe the occasional npc. It isn't implemented to be applicable to player characters from what I have seen. That would be my own assumption as well. Most likely the result of a more recent addition made to OEI Tools (the internal tool used by Obsidian) for use in Avowed, Outer Worlds 2, and future Obsidian games. And not really indicative of any specific plans for a Pillars games.1 point

Iirc those tags are used in Deadfire, aren't they? I assume some (inhouse?) tool might add those tags nowadays which it didn't back in the old PoE days - and since they didn't patch PoE for a very long time it might be that the updated tool just automatically added those in the scope of the newest patch?1 point

Wow, that game has the most hideously uncanny character visuals. Must be Korean or maybe Chinese, their attempts at more realistic character visuals seem to have a tendency to come out looking like that. I suppose it is a bit of a shame you can't run over those nasty little nightmare spawn anymore.1 point

To be fair I was staring at that previous post for quite a while before I saw anything that looked different. No one outside of modders is really all too familiar with stringtable entry structures I guess It is an interesting find! Though searching through the files there are no instances of the populated <GenderNeutralText> . So perhaps part of an initial set up for the option that'll be patched in alongside the Turn-based mode? Or maybe just something the OEITools puts into the .stringtable files now as a result of updates to the tools made to account for the option in Avowed.1 point

I once did leave my status as "Be Right Back" for 3 weeks though, before someone pointed it out to me.1 point

Something is effed up between my iPhone camera -> Google photos -> my gaming PC man, I spent way too much time just trying to not having it on its side (no matter what I did it would end up on left orientation or right orientation, never vertical). I had to do a mix of resizing and file format changes to obliterate whatever metadata was getting confused about photo orientation. I guess I’ll post a bigger one but at least it’s a proof for now in case my letter gets lost in the corporate mailbox1 point

oh man, it was a bit of a journey trying to decipher posts and notes I wrote nine (!!) years ago, but i can confirm that the trap accuracy bug is in fact fixed. it feels so good to get this fixed, almost a bit in disbelief that it finally happened - i have an entire section of my old gamefaqs guide that i need to delete. as promised, a hand-written letter is on its way to the irvine offices. thanks so much1 point

One of the only things I like about the dragon age series, is that they always have a new protagonist. It just feels more natural to get a new character and start from scratch. Much preferred over "you hit your head now you are weak". It also has more variety in play. Maybe the first game you are evil, and then in the second you are a paragon and have to deal with the fallout of the first games evil choices. I suppose you could do this but it doesn't really make sense having the same character act completely different game to game1 point

Finished Reacher s3. Last episode probably was the best one in s3. All in all was better than s2, but still not as good as s1. At this point I can't even tell anymore what exactly made s1 so good, though.1 point

Obsidian haven't said so, but they have told us there will be a roadmap posted. If DLC is planned, it will surely be part of it.1 point
