I hope they make more Shadowrun. Seattle has so much more to offer as a setting.3 points

Ukrainian army lost 18 Su bombers since the start of the war. Most of them before receiving StormShadow/SCALP missiles. Which is more, then they had in 2021. Despite that, they still have more of them than in 2021, as they have mastered the survivability of the equipment on ground, during the RU missile/drone barrages. The biggest issue is, slowly depleting pile of long range ammunition usable by them. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2024/02/22/its-official-despite-losses-ukraines-sole-bomber-brigade-is-bigger-now-than-it-was-before-the-war/2 points

Now I'm picturing something like a Bard from Icewind Dale standing around only playing bardsong, except it's a POE Chanter who buffs his party by constantly juggling his weapon sets like a jester2 points

Tax records reveal the lucrative world of covid misinformation Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine group founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., received $23.5 million in contributions, grants and other revenue in 2022 alone — eight times what it collected the year before the pandemic began — allowing it to expand its state-based lobbying operations to cover half the country. Another influential anti-vaccine group, Informed Consent Action Network, nearly quadrupled its revenue during that time to about $13.4 million in 2022, giving it the resources to finance lawsuits seeking to roll back vaccine requirements as Americans’ faith in vaccines drops. edit(for paywall material we keep the copy/paste minimal, but the following provides necessary context): As the groups’ coffers grew, so did the salaries of some top executives. Children’s Health Defense paid Kennedy, then chairman and chief legal counsel and now an independent candidate for president, more than $510,000 in 2022, double his 2019 salary, tax records show. Informed Consent Action Network paid Executive Director Del Bigtree $284,000 in 2022, a 22 percent increase from 2019. Bigtree now works as communications director for Kennedy’s presidential campaign. Some of the individuals behind the family foundations or trusts that fund the four groups also contributed the legal maximum in personal donations to Kennedy’s presidential bid, according to OpenSecrets, which tracks political donations. not unrelated Six cases of measles confirmed in outbreak at a Florida elementary school Florida surgeon general doesn't urge vaccinations amid measles outbreak for those unaware, measles ain't a childhood disease deserving a shrug and a reflexive qq response. measles is one o' the most readily communicable disease and there is a relative high rate o' hospitalization which accompanies infections. conspiracy theories have real human costs and people getting rich off o' the human cost makes it all the more contemptable. I loved both Dragonfall and Hong Kong and it was Returns that was hard for me to get through. I'm curious if HBS has tried/is trying to make a 4th Shadowrun game now that they are independent again since I doubt Microsoft would let them keep making their licensed games under Paradox. But what do I know*? *A lot but not that2 points

Well, what do you know, our lying sack of manure former chancellor was found guilty of perjury. Not that eight months conditional sentence seems like such a great blow against Kurz, however - while it stands as a terrible indictment of the political landscape of our time that this perjury trial is by far and large a minor side theater in a much larger corruption complex with Kurz and his former associates at the heart of it all - aspiring crown witness Thomas Schmid being judged credible is a major win for our federal attorneys. Sebastian Kurz already said that he wants to appeal, which can be a bad idea. A slap on the wrist sentence (8 months out of potential three years with no time served in prison) like that can blow up in the face of the convicted parties after an appeal, as these sentences are basically unofficial offers to close up cases when the judiciary has better things to do. Usually when the convicted party appeals, the federal attourneys follow suit and appeal the sentence. Well, we will see. I am still rooting for him seeing a prison from the inside, the much more interesting trial for the misappropriation of public funds is still coming.1 point

Might be DLC that But it does have Apache attack helicopters, and that's got to be the next best thing though right?1 point

@Sarex I do think the big "outcry" re: no save on exit etc. does come from many feeling taken by surprise. It shows as a driving with at least some level of sorta free exploration survival game, not necessarily a hardcore-kinda-rogue-like rush-y style game (or whatever). I watched three reviews of the game and none of them mentioned the save system process. Supposedly later many missions do get shorter, but yeah those initial ones where many players may take an hour or two or more is the first impression. And in the demo at least, altering most settings options would also disable Achievements. Not that I would care, but anyone who does care can't change the settings then. Anyway, the dev's already responded, which is why I noted I don't think they'll change anything. Which again, is fine. Just means I won't likely get it, myself. Note: the "technical sacrifices" they refer to is probably that they didn't code the game to keep (constant) track of stuff that would be needed for a save/exit state.1 point

Thanks man, I went with the Dozens, too late now to change. But I guess that little extra Acc is also going to be useful.1 point

Frieren episode 23... (because 24 will probably show up tonight while I'm in bed) The Proctor of the test, Sense, is trying to calm the test takers by trying to convince them not to put too much stock in past test results (in the last 4 tests she presented, nobody passed the test) The nature of the test is explained, and she even gives each test taker an "escape golem". A small bottle with a golem inside, if the bottle is broken, the golem will take the test taker to the surface. Because Sense thinks it unnecessary to kill promising mages. Denken, being the wise old man thinks they should all team up, because anyone who reaches the bottom passes the test. Doesn't have to be at the expense of anyone, i.e. not competing against each other. Humans being humans, they refuse and congregate in small groups with the people they feel comfortable around. Practical as always, Fern of course brought the mini-map to keep track of where in the dungeon they are Left out the part where Himmel goes on about always having to map the entire level before going to the next Frieren meets her arch-nemesis along the way... The various mage groups encounters traps, most of them deadly. From the ceiling crushing people against the floor over gargoyles to suddenly having to fight replicas of themselves... The escape golem seems to work as advertised, when one of the mages get trapped between spiky walls closing in on her. Breaking the bottle makes the golem inflate, break the wall, pick her up and run to the surface. Frieren explains how she handled mimics when solo-leveling... ...and sometimes get rewarded for her persistency Denkens group runs into a replica, he hadn't anticipated (he tried to face Frieren in the first test and got literally butt kicked)... insert epic boss music here. The boss is Frieren the Slayer of course, that's where the episode ended1 point

Riposte dont interrupt the permanent switch, so a chanter - rogue can be potent to buff the party at melee range ! Some weapons that can be nice to try on the second (or third if you write a script that include 3 weapons's slots of course) : Shattered Vengeance (early game) : since the engagement bonus will stop enemies at range, like a CC effect. Acolyte's Frostbite : for the riposte and the concentration (I guess the layer should be refreshed on weapon switch) when there is no ally around, Bardatto's Luxury (a self version of Lethandria's Devotion that also remove Con afflictions) Thundercrack Pistol : I suspect Chargeld Field aura to work exactely at the reverse of the Companion's Prelude, for them with a shield or an armor. Maybe it is possible to create an infinite recovery time for the enemies too heavily equipped. Maybe t is possible to crete an infinite reload time for Dorudugan A whale of Wand : because charmed enemies will benefite to the buffs from weapons switch only for the flipped time, chaming some of them can be monstruous for all of them. As a chanter the charming chant is accessible, and with a cipher it is possible to dominate them to allow them to use abilities, but a Whale of Wand proc on an hostile chant should be appreciable i think. Edit : as suspected, Charged Field aura from Thundercrack pistol extend at the infinity the action time for everyone with a shield or a heavy armor in the aura (self excepted). I try in the tavern and Harami, Birta, the xaurip etc was charging at the infinity their actions. During this time I took a cup of cofee. I will write a topic about that tomorrow, with your credit @tackthumb for the seed that give the idea!1 point

I lost a game of Old World. I was playing Carthage and the Romans kept zerg rushing me. They lost too, but it was sad. I don't fully understand the economy in this game. Now I'm playing Xcom Enemy Within so I can feel like a winner gain.1 point

I don't see why it need be one or the other. Since you've just played PoE1, I would suggest PoE2 to follow up. And you can (and should) play BG1&2 later on. But I can also see some people recommending the opposite because they like taking a break from what they just played. I, however, favor continuity over taking a break from something.1 point

I think F-16s have enough long range ammunition type, to be able to hit military structures around Rostov, without leaving the Ukrainian airspace. Although I bet, that the first targets would be in Bilhorod People’s Republic. in other news, German Bundestag has voted in favour of providing long range weaponry, to be able to hit targets deep behind the front line. Some people say, that the wording of the bill can be interpreted that even Taurus could be provided to Ukraine. But I bet SPD will find few more reasons, why not to https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/02/22/7443158/1 point

I don't know why this didn't occur to me originally but I just re-tested it and it works exactly the way @Constentin Lévine speculated. You can pause after an action and then keep switching back and forth to Squid's Grasp and it will progressively decrease your recovery bar every time you swap back. You can keep doing it until recovery becomes close to 0s (the bar moves less and less each time but it is technically possible to reduce it down to like 0.0001 millisecond). Honestly, I only figured to swap to Squid's Grasp once when I first tested this and was pretty happy when it worked the one time. The fact that it can recursively reduce recovery is pretty crazy! Sorry, maybe "refreshes" is the wrong word when talking about Magistrate's Cudgel and Black Jacket quick swapping. To be more precise, when the Deliberations buff wears off, you can just swap back to Magistrate's Cudgel and endlessly reactivate the buff by re-engaging an enemy. Like I said previously, the Deliberations buff will persist even after you switch to a different weapon set. One noteworthy thing is that the +1 Penetration from the Deliberations buff is a universal bonus, meaning it can also apply to spells! This and a couple of other spellcasting supplementing weapons like @thelee's choice of Lance of the Midwood Stag in the OP makes Black Jacket a pretty interesting subclass choice for spellcasting multiclasses aside from the more obvious choice of Tactician.1 point

Haven't finished Elden Ring, because it felt just too unfair in the end. However, probably going to dip into the expansion anyways.1 point

Florida surgeon general defies science amid measles outbreak Instead of following what he acknowledged was the “normal” recommendation that parents keep unvaccinated children home for up to 21 days — the incubation period for measles — Ladapo said the state health department “is deferring to parents or guardians to make decisions about school attendance.” ... Because measles virus particles can linger in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours after an infected person leaves the area, up to 90 percent of people without immunity will contract measles if exposed. People who have been infected or received the full two doses of the MMR vaccine are 98 percent protected and very unlikely to contract the disease. That is why public health officials typically advocate for vaccination amid outbreaks. ... A drop below 95 percent vaccination coverage for measles can compromise herd immunity and allow a virus to spread more quickly. Florida’s state vaccination coverage is 90.6 percent, but statewide vaccination coverage does not identify pockets where there may be lower coverage.0 points
