No there was definitely something wrong with that trailer. Story-rich does not preclude plot-holes and contradictions. It just means it has a lot of story. Just like calorie-rich food doesn't mean it tastes good or is healthy. Anyways, BG3 is an absolute mess of story, for sure. They tried to give every throwaway NPC a backstory and it's a bit crazy. It's one thing to have a town with named NPC's and quests revolving around them, but then they named every NPC in the enemy bases. Even the forest critters seem to have backstories. I didn't stop many to ask, but I'm sure each of the squirrels running around the forests have some lengthy diatribe on their family history. Is it good story? I've said it before, if you don't like Larian's writing, then you aren't going to like that they put 1000% more in this game.4 points

Speaking of oppressed Russian-speaking locals, the ever-whiny Russian embassy set up a service for Russians in Finland to report on all the ways they are being mistreated and oppressed here. This was a particularly low move, even for the Russian embassy, although it was probably to be expected in the current circumstances. Let us just say that it not go down all that well: the service did receive an awful lot of feedback, that's for sure, but I would estimate that a lot more than 99.9% was automatically generated and not exactly what they were looking for. Someone, perhaps even anyone, might have guessed that this was precisely what was going to happen, but apparently the Russian embassy did not, because it was, shall we say, upset. No surprises there, either.3 points

A few days ago my dad got checked in the hospital for a heart attack, apparently he had one 3-4 weeks ago and had just been kind of hobbling around, given how heavy of a smoker he was and the health effects of that it tracks I guess. Hopefully his lungs continue to improve and he'll get a procedure this Saturday so he can go home.2 points

Haley seeks to clarify Civil War comments as backlash mounts “I mean, I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do,” Haley had said Wednesday in a visit to Berlin — the first of five events in the Granite State as she attempts to close the gap with Republican front-runner Donald Trump ahead of next month’s primary. The former South Carolina governor then asked the voter who had asked her about the Civil War what he thought the cause was, to which the voter responded, “I’m not running for president.” “I think it always comes down to the role of government and what the rights of the people are,” Haley added. “I will always stand by the fact that I think government was intended to secure the rights and freedoms of the people. It was never meant to be all things to all people,” she added. The voter criticized her for not mentioning slavery in her answer. “In the year 2023, it’s astonishing to me that you answer that question without mentioning the word slavery,” the voter said. “What do you want me to say about slavery?” Haley asked. ... now this may come as some surprise to non-americans, but each US state teaches history different in their schools, and each school district has a fair amount o' leeway to implement state standards with individual teachers obvious getting additional input. in many southern states, the way the civil war gets taught is fundamental affected by the daughters of the confederacy's efforts at revisionism-- southern children frequent learn that the war between the states was ultimately about state's rights and slavery was a tangential concern. worth a read additional link "the revisionist campaign of Confederate sympathizers gained traction. By 1940, the “Lost Cause” narrative dominated textbooks nationwide; as Matt Ford observed this August in an article for The Atlantic, textbooks used when today’s American leaders were in school “downplayed the role of slavery” in the Civil War. "In 1946, the NAACP embarked on its own nationwide textbook campaign, which began in New York to fight against historical inaccuracies and for the inclusion of black history in the school curriculum. It wasn’t until the 1970s that the textbook industry began making significant changes, but the myth of the Lost Cause nevertheless continues to hold sway, as the Roper Center of Public Opinion demonstrated in 2011, on the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. At that point, a significant portion of Americans — more than half, according to some polls — believed that the main cause of the war was states’ rights." haley said something stoopid, but as a former southern governor, it ain't surprising she promotes a pernicious view o' history. aside, the following is a somewhat amusing, but well-researched video on the state's rights as the cause o' the civil war stoopid which persists to this day. HA! Good Fun!2 points

And, while I am sure that isn’t their intention, it felt a lot like posturing, as they limit writing content for minor NPCs after act1. It feels as if the game is puffing its chest early on hoping, few will look further. Not that I have issue with it per se - random NPCs in act3 having unique barks is pretty good anyway, but it doesn’t make up for unfinished story arcs, dodgy world building and messy plot. I am still far more impressed by Arcanum than Bg3. It just felt smarter, production wise, and more effective.1 point

vampyr never should have been a combat focused rpg narrative focused game like night road work far better1 point

Finished Vampyr. It is mostly fine, though, there are issues. In Chapter 5 (out of 6), I found a police officer, but was unable to report the previously-met serial killer, gang leaders, the child abuser, or the poisoner. The only way to anyhow prevent them from causing harm to random people was to lethally bite them, which would result in a worse ending. From what I've read (haven't tried myself), killing or not killing civilians is the only way of interaction with them - quests do give XP, but the NPC's state does not seem to change, while, for example, if the serial killer is killed, his mother adopts the homeless orphan. Additionally, as mentioned, slaughtering the nameless vampire hunters was perfectly fine and did not affect the endings or the MC's appearance (again, haven't tried myself, but the more civilians are eaten, the redder the MC's eyes become). In terms of combat, while most of the regular opponents were possible to interrupt with normal attacks (thus, just hitting them until the stamina ran out was a viable strategy), it only partially worked with the bosses, though the later ones resisted the interruptions with normal attacks (the abilities mostly worked). The targeting was somehow odd - sometimes, the opponents could glide several meters forward while also changing directions mid-swing, sometimes, the attacks worked like they would in Dark Souls. On a positive note, I quite liked the second form of the final boss, easy may it be, - the boss was impossible to bite (so, no healing in combat) or interrupt, but the boss' damage was low and attacks clearly telegraphed, so it was defeated on the first attempt (the first stage took several, because I counted on being able to stagger the boss and did not notice how much damage the stacking poison clouds were doing). The ending was funny, partially, because the information told by the NPCs was presented in a diary found 2 minutes before the dialogue. I also found the best sword (by accidentally seeing it mentioned on the forums and having the collectible required to solve the puzzle leading to it) and water for the plant at the MC's office (that one I almost missed). I did not rest after the Chapter 5 boss battle, because I was worried that the districts' condition might worsen and did not have enough XP to level up. Another thing I noticed is that one of the Irish NPCs was using the American date format for his diary, mm/dd/yy, instead of dd/mm/yy. Overall, while Vampyr was not anyhow close to VtMB, it was playable. Considering that I still have the manual saves created via Windows Explorer, I might try to see what happens if more people are bitten.1 point

I wanted to bring up a major issue I'm having with my shared online multiplayer game. When I first started playing the other players went and farmed all the trinkets immediately and have them all on their characters personal inventory and have not logged back in since, therefore none are available for duplication for me. I would like a chance to have the Thor's pendant for myself without starting a whole new game as well as other things like rotten weapons that were thrown away early in the game without really knowing about the berry charm that goes with them. Please consider making it to where players can recreate items after they have been discovered instead of the current duplication method, or possibly add a recreation method as well for more raw science or something. Players holding items that never log back in or don't share items makes it so the current duplicating system doesn't really help me. I very much appreciate the effort being made by the development team for making such an enjoyable game, Thank you.1 point

Single shot bolter rounds not missing is silly fun. Argenta can see your toe? Boom! Headshot!1 point
-
Jae's Inspire! is fun, unless the fight is going badly she stacks 50 or so Tactical Superiority per round. I also switched Argenta to the Heavy Bolter sold by the Drusians now that I could... it takes a turn to produce higher overall damage numbers than you would get with the regular bolter because the per shot damage is smaller, but afterwards it just takes off and becomes completely ludicrous, especially with Arch-Militant's Steady Superiority upgrade that allows her to use both archetypes' Heroic Acts in a single combat. Screenshot taken from a very short fight against a Chaos Marine and four Bloodletters. Firearm Mastery's rate of fire bonus seems to be calculated off the weapon's base rate of fire and added afterwards. It does not get doubled by Rapid Fire which makes me a sad majestic, but it's not like it is necessary. Needless to say that this, combined with all the extra attacks, stacks Argenta's Fired Up to ludicrous degrees. Add Critical Versatility and Daring Approach's 100% crit rate, and... yeah. Woof. Blessed Bolter Casing makes her a better sniper than any of the snipers. I've gotten used to the silly zone placing and it has become quite fun. The Rear zone buffs weapons that would normally not have overpenetration, doubly fun with Locust Stratagem. Using Cassia as Grand Strategist is quite fun, designating zones on the map and moving enemies into groupings with her Navigator powers (Mastery of Time stacks her Willpower to infinity) and then just fire into the group with an 18 shot burst capable of overpenetration.1 point

We still talking about Latvia here? Because AFAIK nobody oppresses Russian-speaking locals there. Unless "Learn the language of the country you live in order to maybe get a better job" counts, and no, that thousand that media says might be kicked out, is very unlikely local. Also your last sentence is pointlessly long. "Break up russia --> Yes please!" is sufficient.1 point

^ I was ok until they reached the key features segment. Whoever set up/arranged the subtitles ... I did not enjoy your sentence breakup structure. Took me right out. Could just be my snobbery hat tho.1 point

This trailer seems to be a lot longer than the one posted here a few weeks ago. And it seems to say the game is expected to be released in the second half of 2024 (with game reveal in summer '24).1 point

BG3 is not a story-rich game. The lame main story with a million plot-holes and contraditions is the game's biggest weakness. People who've played the game a lot have laid out these issues in great detail in thread after thread on the Larian forum.1 point

I am having the same issue ;-; I search and, maybe, it's a problem from the graphics board, mine is Iris Xe Graphics from Intel, that is an integrated board, maybe it does not have support to the game. If someone fixed that, please tell us how1 point

I would think the ability too hold a additional trinket would be amazing for this game. I would even say you could sacrifice a mutation slot to do this. Heck find a way to boost that mutation and hold up to three trinkets. I just really want the ability to create even more builds in the game for example I would run the windowing and broodmother trinkets. I'm sure many other people would love this ability, please add it.1 point

None of the stuff I nominated made the final list except for BG3, so I'm bummed. JA3 definitely deserved to be on the Best Game You Suck At category, and Conan Exiles is definitely a labor of love. That being said, I'm happy to put BG3 up as Game of the Year and Story Rich game. I definitely want more games in that vein. The other options have little appeal. Hogwarts Legacy was pretty good though. My kids played the heck out of that one. Starfield was a good game and I'll play it a lot more over the years, but I'm not sure how it is innovative. It is still Skyrim in Space. I haven't played the others, but looking at the list, they are all pretty unique.1 point

Same issue, i tried to make the firste payable scene but it's completely unplayable. That problem only affects the game, not the cinematics or the menus. it starts when the screen became white during the third cinematic i think (when you arrive on the planet and you pod is on fire. It may be a gamma problem or something like that. I tried to reduce the gamma but it did nothing about it. Help would be very of you because this look like a good game I would enjoy1 point

I also had this problem and have looked it up and have seen a reddit post six months ago that seems to be one of the first cases of this but everywhere I look I haven't seen it fixed even in the forums when it's mentioned.1 point

We're going to go through the Release the Snyder Cut bull$#!+ again? I was told by someone whose judgement on movies I trust that if I've seen Seven Samurai (1954) then I've already seen a much better version of this movie, and I have seen Seven Samurai and it's inferior but still quite enjoyable remake The Magnificent Seven (1960).1 point
