  1. I'm gonna take this opportunity to promote Apotheosis Download links can be found here: https://gitlab.com/noqn/apotheosis#download-run For this you want to navigate to GameData -> Items -> ItemMods and search for soul_reaper to find the right object. Next you want to expand the StatusEffectsOnEquip row, right-click on the child row and select Duplicate. (Creates a new row with the same ID reference). Then right-click the duplicate row that was just added, and select Assign Duplicate. (Creates a duplicate of the GameData object that is referenced, then assigns the ID of the new object to the selected row). In the popup dialog, keep the old name but add _OnCrit at the end to distinguish it from the old effect, then press Accept. Next press the Save button under the tab, then you'll get to enter a name for you mod folder. After that, right-click the _OnCrit row and select Open in New Tab. In this new tab you want to make a few changes: Edit the OverrideDescriptionString text so that it mentions "on scoring Crit" or something, rather than "on scoring a Kill". (Press the Pen icon to edit text) Change the EventValue row from OnScoringKill to OnScoringCriticalHit After all that, hit the save button under the 2nd tab, as well as the save button in the upper left corner of the app window. One concern with this solution (I haven't tested it) is that the effects could stack separately (potentially getting up to two x4 stacks)? But anyhow you'll find out if that's the case

  2. I think that was the part that made me drop FO3 for good and never return to it. Those *^^$@#$ brats were so annoying and I couldn't kill them. Not even with the mini nuke

  3. @BruceVC just a tl;dr; about each game on my little list.. First game was fast, furious and beat the crap out of anything you play at the arcade (without having to insert coin after coin after coin...) It was made by a guy named Jeff Minter and his one man company Llamasoft. Specializing in surreal and psychedelic stuff with Llama, Sheep and UFO's Second game was made by a guy named Mike Singleton. A bloody genious who created this game. Open world strategy game/role playing game hybrid with procedurally generated graphics and many ways to win (and lose the game). And this was in 1984. Third game was made by Ian Bell and David Braben. Elite is the grandfather of all space sims. Get new space ships, fight off pirates, do mercenary work and deal in goods (sometimes as a smuggler, but then you had to fight the space cops too). Always remembered those dread moments when your hyperdrive malfunctioned and you were stranded in empty space surrounded by Thargoids Fourth game was made by Richard Garriott AKA "Lord British". I played Ultima III too, but nothing came even close the feeling of being immersed in a working world with internally consistent laws and physics like Ultima IV. Again, this was 1985, not a lot of giant shoulders to stand on. Sensible Soccer was particularly awesome in multiplayer mode. The cursing, swearing, threats to players health's (and death wishes on the referees). it was fast, fun and the players had noticeable different stats and personalities (passing, tackling, shooting etc.). Sixth game was a product of it's time. Who doesn't like a nice game of total nuclear war. A pun on the times, the politicians and the movie War Games (the only way to win is not to play). The different predefined leaders had different personalities. Ghandi would never attack you, but relied entirely on propaganda, stealing your population etc. Last game was the best Battlemech game I've ever played. It was originally going to be a commercial, licensed product developed by a guy named Ralph Reed (iirc). But things turned sour between him and FASA who held the license at the time, so it became a shareware/freeware product. The video doesn't really do it justice as you could have anything from single mech vs. single mech to large squadrons fighting each other. Destructible landscape, environment factors etc. (like forest fires heating up your mech to water cooling them down).

  4. I may have finally found the "forever home" Paradise planet! All I need now is to make a bit of a base. Maybe I'll let this one be the one where I hire an Overseer, so I'll make it a bit bigger. ....maybe I went a little overboard, and not in the best way. I'll clean it up later. The funny thing is while I kept trying to place all those landing platforms (I had a temp-display-ships for screenshot idea - sadly 9 platforms is max per base), the random-encounter npc pilot/traders kept landing on them! That red ship below isn't mine, get off my stuff! So I then had to wait for them to fly off before I could move pieces again...I had no idea they'd use player-made platforms. Guess you need more than one, lol

  5. By no means a comprehensive list, but a few favourites that actual had youtube vids (Between them, the two platforms probably boast tens of thousands of titles). I could create a personal top 100 and struggle trying to decide what to leave out But just some games that were memorable for me because of what they offered for their time... (all of them before PC was a viable gaming platform)

  6. Link to Github: https://github.com/Silvris/RingingBloom Getting it to start seems to require installing Version 3.1 of .NET Core SDK. RingingBloom is made for modding .bnk/.pck files in recent Capcom games. Since these games all use Wwise (the same audio engine used in Deadfire) it seems to work for editing .bnk files for Deadfire as well. I haven't really tested it very much beyond what is in video above. The only issue I've encountered thus far is the audio file I replaced in the .bnk seems to only play once per scene. There may be other issue I haven't noticed. There's small wiki for how to use and set up the program but here is the setup that worked for me: The "Soundbank.xml" file and all of Deadfire's .bnk files can be found under the "StreamingAssets" directory of the game folder: "\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio\Windows" MAKE SURE TO CREATE A BACK UP OF A .BNK FILE BEFORE EDITING AND/OR REPLACING IT. The mode "None" seems meant for non-Capcom games. This is what I used. It is possible that one of modes for a Capcom game might work and possibly produce better results (as I said I haven't tested the program very extensively). I created 2 folders outside of the Deadfire directory called "Import" and "Export" and set them as the respective default paths for those action in RingingBloom under "Options". "Import" is where I placed a copy of the "global.bnk", and once I had made the edit to the file ("You must gather your party" was named "Imported Wem 185" and has the id: "58017498") I saved it to the "Export" folder. The files in the .bnk are listed in a numerical order by their ID number, however the RingingBloom instead gives each file a display label of "Imported Wem *". Your best bet is to find a sound is to open the "Soundbank.xml" in notepad and search for the name of the file which should should eventually lead you to the file id.

  7. If I enable it by flipping the HideInCharacterCreation bool, is the subclass fully functional in game? Will I be missing character interactions in dialogue or anything? Bonus question so I won't have to start a new thread, is it possible to enable multiclassing paladins/priests with opposing dispositions ? (short of changing their established ones, which does work). I haven't found anything relevant so I assume it's a hardcoded restriction, but it's worth a shot.

  8. Health issues on the homefront, wife has to get her gallbladder removed tomorrow morning. Not really that crazy except that yesterday, when we got the news, was my late mom's birthday. She died of pancreatic cancer 6 months after first being misdiagnosed with gallbladder issues. Not the same at all but because of the day that's where my mind was at. It was a something

  10. Want me to post the picture I posted the last time the topic came up? Anyway, at least the repeat was not within the same iteration of this thread, it was the last one. You know, unlike that Stephen King discussion between Hurlshot and Xzar_Monty which repeated almost verbatim only like four pages apart. Well, we don't make gołąbki, but sarma, which differs insfoar it is made with sauerkraut leaves. Obviously we use our grandmother's recipe with mixed minced meat (beef and pork, as inaccurate as that is, the regional, organic mixed in our local market works really well), and she never braised them in the oven, just in a regular pot, and no shenanigans with smoked meat. Pretty sure @Sarex's family has some variation too. Well, like you said, most people in Eastern Europe do, although nowadays that's more called Central and South Eastern Europe. Silly former Warsaw Pact nations thinking they're not part of Eastern Europe. They're lucky we don't still just call them the Russians.

  11. Trying to edit xoti's sickle, specifically the soul reaper enchantment By default it triggers when xoti kills something but I want it to trigger on kill and/or critical hit Is it possible to have two applyonevent lines to one status effect? I would try it for myself but I'm too wimpy to risk breaking my save or game =(

  12. It will be fully playable, you won't miss generic Priest dialogue options, but you won't get any "Priest of Rymrgand" options when other classes would've gotten a special option for their Deity. CharacterSubClassComponent -> IncompatibleWith lets you add new restrictions, but the ones with opposing dispositions are automatically detected as invalid combos by the game, sadly... So there's no way to "enable" forbidden combos.

  13. If you do that with a little mod instead of altering the original file there will be zero risk of breaking the your (save)game. What you basically do is to create an additional file in a special override folder and then activate the mod in the game. The game will look for the file and "override" the original sickle data with your mod while loading the game. If those changes don't work properly or even make your game unstable you can just deactivate the mod or delete (or rename) the new file. There are some users here who have more experience than me with modding Deadfire and can give you a short, precise rundown on how to achieve that (it's not that difficult). For example @Elric Galad or @Noqn or @MaxQuest (and many more).

  14. I didn't play much (too distracted with other games for now) but I do like the setting. It aims for pulpy adventure vibe (Indiana Jones, Mummy, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Rocketman, and probably the whole host of media those films based themselves on), and so far so good. I also don't like the mesh of turn based and real time stealth - whenever it is Baldur's Gate3 or Mutant Zero real time controls just aren't tight enough to be enjoyable. THAT said, so far Lamplighters seemed like the best implementation of the idea of the three. Honestly, I enjoyed my time with the game a lot, but reviews cooled me off a bit. Will wrap up what I have now, before diving into LL for real.

  16. The ICC, like the UN, is a wonderful idea. Some of the things they've done are actually good, too. But when the going gets tough, we get to witness some pretty drastic prioritization of concerns. I have mentioned this before, but the same hierarchy is clearly visible on the individual level, too: the vast majority of people want to see justice being done, but when faced with a choice where either justice is done or someone dear to us gets out of trouble at the expense of justice being done, more than half of us will choose the latter, according to various studies. So we value our friends more than we value justice, just like countries and organizations value their colleagues/whatnot more than they value justice. It's not pretty.

  18. I don't know what Lamplighters is trying to be, and I'm not sure the game does either. Early 20th century setting? That's good. Weird cartoonish 3D aesthetic? That's bad. Tactical turn-based combat? That's good. Real-time only stealth sections? That's bad. I dunno, maybe I'll go watch one of those long-form YouTube reviews to get more than that surface treatment of it, but the general discourse around the game isn't promising. Also, petty as it is, the name evokes the infamous Little Lamplight segment of FO3.

  19. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1374930/eventcomments/3906367962690840828/ --- https://www.humblebundle.com/games/awesome-indies-from-humble-games There were at least 4 games that I wanted (Moonscars, Unsighted, The Wild at Heart, and Flynn) and the charity seemed good. --- https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/the-lord-of-the-rings-gollum-devs-were-expected-to-make-an-ambitious-triple-a-game-on-a-tenth-of-the-budget-report-claims Somehow sad. Also, it is odd that Daedelic who had a lot of experience with point-and-click adventures, but not action-adventures, decided to go for the latter.

  20. ground beef is not a singular thing. is variations and gradients. ground short rib is different than ground sirloin which is different from ground chuck. etc. is all ground beef. you also got general fat-to-lean meat percentages to consider. @majestic will be amused 'cause we had almost the same gołąbki post involving the same people eighteenish months past. nevertheless, am gonna point out our grandma used 50/50 ground chuck (80/20) and ground pork, but much as ground beef is a vague umbrella descriptor, so too is ground pork. in gdańsk we were informed by multiple grandmas that the "right" way to do gołąbki is to mince pork. use pork loin-- no other meat. however, like our grandmother we use 80/20 ground chuck and ground pork loin, but you gotta make sure you got a decent butcher particular for your ground pork, and reason is the same as why you gotta be careful o' overmixing your meat. if the butcher's equipment is too warm or they is too aggressive with the grinding o' the pork, the fat in the meat is gonna melt as well as there being a tendency to release excessive amounts o' myosin. when making sausage, release o' myosin is a good thing, but for meatloaf, meatballs and gołąbki, overmix or brutal butchers is bad and as such the results will too often be gummy and less tender meat, particular if you are braising such as with many meatball recipes but most certain with gołąbki. aside, a kinda kitchen secret when making meatloaf, meatballs and gołąbki is to use science to replicate a former common solution. veal don't bring much flavour to the aforementioned, but it is a frequent ingredient and the reason why you will see veal added to the beef and pork is same as for why pot roast tastes so good. serious. what veal does have in abundance is collagen. the downside to veal is it has less o' the robust meat flavour you want in meatloaf, meatballs and gołąbki. the solution, particular for a braised dish such as gołąbki? gelatin is cooked collagen, so... add one tablespoon powdered gelatin per 2 pounds o' meat and don't over mix your rice and meat mixture 'cause good cooking is always good science. HA! Good Fun!

  21. am not unsympathetic to the plight o' the working class american. has gotta be soul crushing to need work harder and longer every year to functional get less and less. for far too many americans, there is little job security and even less hope o' a better tomorrow. health care is a huge factor 'cause the number one source o' crippling debt in the US is related to health care costs, but health care is a big problem and not easy to fix. american farms have seeming been in trouble since before Gromnir were born and now we got climate change and regardless o' whether you think the climate change is man-made or natural, a difficult job is getting tougher 'cause natural calamities is happening with more frequency. even w/o the climate change aspects, struggling farmers has been a reality for decades. no easy fixes. automation increases has happened slower than expected but at the same time former agrarian nations is finally entering the industrial age, and those countries pay their workers a fraction o' what US workers need to make poverty level wages. it is impossible for american producers and employers o' working class americans to compete with foreign labor cost. transitioning working class americans to current and future jobs which might provide money enough to purchase a house and send 2.5 kids to college is requiring creative thinking. no easy fixes. etc. the problems ain't simple and the anger from working class whites is understandable. trump came along and told working class whites that their fears were not only legit, but he acted as outraged as they were. he told working class whites that the media and the elites were lying to 'em 'bout their problems and that he had simple and obvious solutions which would make their lives better... if he could just get another $5 campaign contribution so he could win the battle with the deep state. working class whites always suspected they were being told lies-- bs receptivity and conspiratorial thinking is most pronounced amongst groups who feel as if they has been getting the fuzzy end o' the lollypop. lack of education (as opposed to lack o' intelligence) is also a typical factor o' those likely to fall prey to bs and conspiracy. am doubting most o' the washington gop politicians believe the stoopid trump is selling, but they need the maga base to win national elections and so they engage in performance art to keep the maga base satisfied. that said, am thinking it is a bit myopic for libs to write off maga brand working class white anger. the anger is real and legit. the only reason the white working class were such easy targets for trump is 'cause from their pov, nobody were helping them. reality is complicated, but the anger is genuine. am thinking democrats need to get their act together 'cause we has seen that just 'cause the gop embraces the proud boys and david duke white supremacy does not prevent cuban-americans and second generation mexicans from supporting republicans in increasing numbers. whatever. as for the issue in gaza, the mowing the lawn/grass metaphor were swell as long as it continued to work for israel. obviously there were intelligence failures and now israel is gonna need come up with a new scheme. neither the arabs or israelis has been true interested in peace since the second intifada, so it is difficult to pretend to be surprised by the recent violence save for how unprepared were israel. the hamas attack clear took considerable planning and coordination. maybe not massive amphibious landing kinda coordination, but the hamas attacks didn't come together in days or even weeks. thanks to the cell organization employed by hamas, not a whole lotta people had to know every detail, but numerous people had to know something were happening likely months ahead o' the actual attack. israel not knowing is disappointing 'cause they is considered among the best at sniffing out such info. regardless, am not seeing any difficulty in being revolted by hamas and simultaneous recognizing israel is part to blame for the current conflagration. given the tribalism surrounding the issue, it appears impossible to find fault with both israel and hamas w/o being labeled as traitorous/naive/immoral/hypocritical/etc. yeah, hamas is a group o' terrorists who has an espoused goal o' eliminating israel by any means necessary. mistreatment o' women, jews, lgbqt, and anybody not aligned with hamas? people on this board support such a group? well, ok then. simultaneous, the situation in gaza, while hardly the genocidal campaign by israel described by a few, represents brutal and uncompromising efforts with no meaningful progress being made towards a peaceful resolution or even bettering the situation o' the multitudes in gaza. israel is active trying to maintain conditions bad enough in gaza so that hamas cannot mount effective terror attacks while at same time making not so bad that US and world outrage lasts much longer than whenever the current mow the grass effort ends. https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2023/10/commission-inquiry-collecting-evidence-war-crimes-committed-all-sides-israel again, we got some sympathy for israel as they fight asymmetrical a terrorist organization which has been voted into power by the arabs living in gaza, a terrorist organization which has already committed war crimes in this most recent conflict. am recalling a line from a J. Scalia opinion: "one could hold up a sign saying, for example, that all "anti catholic bigots" are misbegotten; but not that all "papists" are, for that would insult and provoke violence "on the basis of religion." st. paul has no such authority to license one side of a debate to fight freestyle, while requiring the other to follow marquis of queensbury rules." am not having difficulty condemning israel if/when they shut off power and water in gaza. we won't hesitate to condemn hamas if/when they purposeful fights from places of worship, hospitals and civilian housing. am similar not so naive as to expect one side to adhere to marquis of queensbury rules. that said, regardless o' asymmetrical realities o' fighting a terrorist organization, am thinking israel needs be aware that from a practical pov they cannot expect continued US support if they exceed some fuzzy and unspecific threshold o' terrible. hamas is not constrained by limits related to western notions o' fair play and morality. just a fact. the whataboutism will be rich. apologists for the russians, serbs and chinese is already whatabouting israel and will continue to do so for howsoever long this particular bruhaha lasts, as if that in anyway diminishes the excesses o' the aforementioned. so it goes. HA! Good Fun!

  22. That's not really a problem, I even make sure to execute peeps that accidentially survived after I massacre my way through any given location. No loose ends. The few instances where you need people alive, like the Buddhist side job or the cyberpsychos, well, that's what overheat or incendiary grenades are made for - or non-lethal takedowns.

  24. Another Next Fest on Steam which means a bunch more demos. First up Ghostrunner 2. I never played the first game but it's a first person game with a focus on mobility where you play a cyberpunk ninja. Everything 1 shot kills you so it's all about being fast and precise. There were some HARDCORE stutters in what otherwise ran great. It's a demo so I don't expect it to be well optimized.
