You know there is a police officer somewhere thinking "I can get suspects beaten up without physically touching them, by leaving them in the interrogation room and playing assassin's creed in the break room... badly?" So many applications in the torture business.4 points

Finally completed my first (Angel) run through Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous yesterday. Successfully completed the full secret ending. All in all a fun, great experience with the game. I more than got my money's worth, including money spent on the two DLC season passes. Looking forward to Azata, Aeon, and Legend runs in the future. Trying to decide what I should play next. Maybe go back to Solasta to the play the last DLC. I'm surely going to be buying Starfield, but I won't be able to actually play the game anytime soon. Like @BruceVC, I also have the rule of not playing a new game, especially a big new game, for several months until major patching is done (and possibly even the release of some DLCs). But in Starfield's case there's also the issue of needing to buy a new gaming computer because my current machine is 8 years old and won't handle it. I want to be able to spend a good amount of money on a really good new machine maxed out on processor, memory, graphics, and SSD. So I want to take my time and shop for a good deal/sale prices.2 points

I struggled with Witcher S3. I'm caught at the halfway point. The actors are good, the characters are handled pretty well, but something about the story is just not catching my attention and none of the episodes have really pulled me in. Did spend an evening binging through Citadel on Prime. I was kind of curious, and hell, Stanley Tucci is pretty much a good reason to try watching anything. Much more of a smaller role than I thought once past the first two episodes. I know they're trying for that pulp cinematic spy story, but while it's somewhat entertaining, it's also somewhat silly, and entirely a mix of pulled together elements. As some review said, the main character is a mild turn on a knock-off Jason Bourne, while Tucci is playing a version of Mark Strong's Merlin from Kingsman. And all of those character and plot twists required in a spy genre are pretty much highlighted in advance, there's nothing that subtle about them, which is a bit of a failing in a spy type show.1 point

More than to cause panic I'd say they were there just to give Poland the finger. I also agree with your second point: seriously doubt they dropped anyone off. This is a fairly common Russian strategy: Russian airplanes breach Finnish and Swedish airspace with some regularity, just to remind everyone that Russia doesn't give a damn and is a big bad wolf. Every time Finland or Sweden remind Russia that it would do well to keep its airplanes in its own airspace, Russia the aggressor immediately becomes Russia the victim. You can't get more childish than that, I'd say.1 point

Probably just to cause panic. Doubt they dropped anyone off. Unless they already have logistics/insurgents set up. Then again a lot of people immigrated to Poland at the start of the war, it's not that farfetched that some pro-Russia people set up there.1 point

Stop making me tempted to try building stuff lmao. I've done some testing and at least with my modded game (which has several "fixes" to make it inline with pnp as well as additions), charging specific things besides the Fabled Hero's Lance don't apply on subsequent attacks when pouncing. So if we want the crazy damage we're looking at stacking up stuff for that single charge, for my modded game I'd float a full Gendarme worshipping Gorum using Greatswords and Vital Strike as the best way to do this. One of the things added is Gorum's Divine Fighting Technique, which applies Vital Strike on a charge. Stacked together you're adding x4 the damage roll from Gendarme and Spirited Charge along with the Greater Mythic Vital Strike. Using this with Bloody Red Cleaver outcompetes the Fabled Hero's Lance by a bit on the initial hit, and the 6d6 (the greatsword beats the lance by 2d6 using enlarge shenanigans) from subsequent attacks doesn't make up for it. Mythic paths will obviously complicate things and all that, but it was a fun thot experiment to play with it. Again this is all with mods so it may not be applicable to any vanilla builds, but I highly reccomend Tabletop Tweaks to everyone who has played the game or wants to play it.1 point

Gotta say Russia is steadfast indeed in its use of "special military operation" instead of "war". If it was at all possible, someone might even suggest that Ukraine could join NATO right now because by Russia's own definition, it is not a nation currently at war.1 point

Finally completed my first (Angel) run through the game yesterday. Successfully completed the full secret ending. I liked the story very much. Sure, their writing could use some work, perhaps even a lot of work, but the story itself I found to be both interesting and compelling. It was a good story. I also liked most of our companions and generated the best endings for all of them except of course Camellia and Wenduag. And even those two ended up only with incomplete endings and not "bad" endings. And even the NPCs with ending slides all came out really well. I found the crusade management side of the game to be quite fine when using the lowest difficulty setting. It was even fun to build up my armies and then go around smashing demon armies. And with respect to spellcasting and buffing, those late-game feats that extend the duration of spells to 24 hours are *perfect*. I made sure all my casters got those feats, and once they were in place buffing became a breeze. Just one round of buffing casting was sufficient all the way to the next resting. All in all a fun, great experience with the game. I more than got my money's worth, including money spent on the two DLC season passes. Looking forward to Azata, Aeon, and Legend runs in the future.1 point

Indeed, a good read, thank you for the link. The tendency to sympathise with Russia has an interesting precedent in the 9/11 terrorist attack, after which some left-leaning intellectuals such as Edward Said and Noam Chomsky were surprisingly incapable of admitting that it was an atrocious act indeed, and instead they went to great lengths in describing how awful some American policies had been and were (in itself a correct claim) and that such an attack on civilians was ultimately, sort of, let's face it, how should we put it, entirely justified and right. Christopher Hitchens wrote about this sort of spinelessness rather scathingly and well almost immediately after Said, Chomsky et al. had come out with their anti-American and pro-terrorist points. This phenomenon has quite a lot to do with the hierarchies that people have in their thinking. I've said it before put I suppose it may bear repeating: almost all people want justice to be done, but if they are faced with a choice of either furthering justice or keeping a friend out of trouble, they tend to (i.e. over 50% will choose to) go for the latter option, at the cost of justice, even at a terrible cost. So while we value justice, we value friends more. A similar phenomenon applies here: "America" or "the West" are very easy epitomes of certain kind of evil, because they definitely and clearly are up to all kinds of questionable things in the world -- but for the most part, people in the West will still tend to side with America or the West when it's a question of choice between that and, let's say, Russia. (I would never ever want to live in America but faced with a choice between that and Russia, there's just no question which one I'd choose.) But there's a certain group of people who sort of vacillate inbetween: in daily life, America and the West represent evil, and when Russia (or some other entity not from the West) gets up to something utterly dreadful, they start to come up with excuses about how, surely, the West must also be to blame, and so on. This group is quite distinct from those who overtly and consistently support Russia all the time. One good example is the question of NATO expansion, such as it is. NATO doesn't really intend to expand. NATO gets new members because various countries feel threatened enough by Russia so that they wish to get some extra protection, and that's why they apply for membership. Russia, of course, steadfastly refuses to see this. One other thing (among many many many many) that Russia steadfastly refuses to see is that as a sovereign nation, Ukraine gets to do whatever it wants to (within international law), so whether it chooses to apply for NATO membership is none of Russia's business, in the same way that it's none of my business whatsoever whether my neighbor wants to join the Labor Union or Amnesty International or any of those groups probably still going strong in Judea. If I start whining about it, it almost certainly indicates that I have a problem.1 point

Hmm, seems to me, that Ubi wants to appease the BDSM crowd Man would say the endless grinding in the AC games by which they want to force you to use UbiShop, is big enough punishment, but yeah, some might really call it an QoL improvememt1 point

Thats interesting, I wonder if its true? I like the parts "Security guarantees for Ukraine will be concrete, long-term obligations ensuring Ukraine's capacity to defeat and restrain Russian aggression in the future. These will be clearly drafted formats and mechanisms of support." He said the guarantees "will be in effect until Ukraine secures NATO membership." " He said an initial international meeting devoted to the peace plan took place in Copenhagen in June. In addition to calling for a withdrawal of Russian troops, Zelenskiy's peace plan also provides for the restoration of Ukraine's pre-war borders and the return home of all prisoners and deported children" It seems reasonable, the Ruskies will keep Crimea and I imagine get Western sanction relief?1 point

Ukraine / US start discussion on security guarantees. Not long ago, Ukraine would laugh them off as no better than Budapest memorandum. If the war is to be frozen then Ukraine will survive or fall depending on these terms.1 point

I think if you go into the features tab on your character, you'll see Animal Companion with a number next to it. Try increasing that to see if it increases the animal companion level. If you're down with cheating and mods....there's a feat for Cavaliers in TTT that makes animal companions scale with character level called Horse Master. Also, if you can wait Trickster gives you 2d6 sneak attack at MR3 so you can qualify for Arcane Trickster right after getting it without taking a Rogue dip. If you respec class levels you can max Arcane Trickster by level 14 with a sorcerer. Divine Guardian isn't worth it. Paladin spells contain useful personal buffs that outweigh whatever the non-caster Paladins get in return.1 point

Since this is the spoiler's thread I'm assuming I can go whole hog on descriptions/breakdowns. If this is incorrect please let me know. I'd like to add to what Knownastherat said. Story-wise going from Port Maje directly to Fort Deadlight makes Serafen's quest and narrative flow more smoothly. The order of events essentially would go: Attacked by Benweth > Shipwrecked > Port Maje > Ambush by Furrante > Recruit Serafen > Learn Benweth's ship took damage and made port at Fort Deadlight (implied timed deadline before his ship is seaworthy again) > Plan with Serafen > Sail to Deadlight (racing implied deadline). V - Personal experience here: I was attacked by a pirate on the way, Weathered Cormio, and took his flag. This added several narrative benefits since it gave access to the flag, introduced ship combat, and gave weight to Furrante's warning that Benweths' successful attack makes my ship look like easy prey to all the other pirates.- V And onward: Break into deadlight (whichever way you do it) > Serafen introduces his motivation/quest > Deal with Benweth (and learn a little bit about the new blood Principi) > Benweth story arch closed/resolved Sail to Neketaka > Receive letters from both Furrante and Aeldys both of which the PC now has a bit of knowledge of > Neketaka > Serafen see's Malnaj's boat > Ambush by Malnaj And that's as far as I've gotten so far, but it does seem to have a better narrative flow. So far the main conflict I've seen is between the implied time table to deal with Benweth and the implied damage to the PC's ship. When I left Port Maje, I got the impression the ship's repair was a rush job and that reaching Neketaka was a priority since The Defiant is essentially being held together by rubber bands and chewing gum. However, since all threats ingame seem to be implied (unless the gods are concerned), this narrative flow is still my favorite.1 point

In an unmodded base game, transmutation effects stack even though they should not. If you cast Reduce Person on a Halfling before casting Frightful Aspect on them, you can put them on enlarged mounts other than horses, so you could try Beast Rider for some more fun setups. Thank me later.0 points

https://www.eurogamer.net/theres-an-official-assassins-creed-mirage-haptic-gaming-suit-on-the-way "Haptics firm Owo's Mirage-themed tie-in has been created in partnership with Ubisoft and looks something like an extremely snug short-sleeved shirt, albeit packaged alongside various bits of hardware. While wearing one, players can experience "multiple different sensations" that reflect those of Assassin's Creed Mirage's protagonist Basim. Owo says these "sensations" will include the likes of "impacts and parkour", with the standard version of the haptic suit able to mimic 30 different sensations, including "axe", "insect bites", "severe abdominal wound", and "ball"." https://owogame.com/owo-skin-acm/ It does sound interesting and unusual. Though, so do VR helmets and I still don't have one. The only drawbacks I can see is how many games would adequately support it to make having this hardware meaningful, otherwise, $500 seems a bit too much for one game (granted, I would have purchased it if I had enough disposable income and it was not Assassin's Creed/Ubisoft; Mirror's Edge or Mass Effect/EA would be fine).0 points
