Sedrefilos Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) To minimize eversprawling speculation threads, I decided to make this one. I put links from information from Josh Sawyer about new mechanics and other interesting stuff. I do believe we'll get more detailed updates for what's new in Pillars 2 by the devs themselves soon enough, but untill then we can use these and talk around them. Fell free to link any other info I might (probably) missed! - STREAMING: new Q&A session with Josh Sawyer at Oct. 8th https://twitter.com/WorldofEternity/status/828797084643897344 - Interviews: http://www.mmorpg.com/pillars-of-eternity/interviews/pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire-returning-companions-and-continuing-saves-1000011515 (thanks Barbedbeat!)https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/01/31/inside-pillars-eternity-ii-deadfire-game-director-josh-sawyer/ - About when we'll meet the companions: http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156538181671/so-with-3-of-the-6probably-7-soon-companionshttp://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156540200006/hi-josh-as-we-already-know-at-the-beginning-of- About grimoires and trinkets: http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156538820176/any-chance-in-poe2-grimores-could-be-made-a-little from L4wlight in the Josh sawyer something awful poe2 thread http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91241-josh-sawyer-something-awful-poe2-posts/?p=1880328 - About multiclassing: http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156540101641/i-know-that-you-tried-to-avoid-trap-builds-in-poe from L4wlight in the multiclassing thread: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91182-one-word-multiclassing/?p=1878734 - About cloaks and necks: http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156567713041/critical-question-will-there-be-separate-cloak - About skills: http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156585382271/in-the-first-pillars-the-character-progression-was - A little more about Xoti (stretch goal companion): http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156604263206/did-you-know-about-lantern-shields-and-will-there - Josh Sawyer Q&A: The entire video in text (from kirottu's thread! http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91394-twitch-qa-in-old-skool-text-form/)https://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/5rju7y/link_deadfire_qa_session_with_josh_sawyer_1h05m/ - About reputation system: http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156893676606/in-deadfire-will-we-see-changes-to-the-reputation - About proficincies and skills: http://jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/156893948066/weapon-proficiencies-are-in-but-are-the-weapon - About importing saves (from Fig comments section, contribution by IndiraLightfoot): Can someone tell me which savegame should I keep "safe" until Pillars 2 is out? MaxQuest Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) "In most circumstances, party members can grant bonuses to the main party member performing an action. The math is a little complex, but the end result is that nothing is really redundant. It the very least, you’ll gain a marginal bonus if multiple party members have points in a skill." Reminds me of that injured wolf in White March. Iirc you could not heal it, if you had Field Triage on a companion but not MC. Ganrich Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Awesome. I'm particularly interested in hearing about the new skills system more in depth. Sounds very promising.
boffmoffet Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Awesome post, thanks for the effort Sedrefilos!
Lamppost in Winter Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 More non-combat skills is welcome news.

Sedrefilos Posted January 31, 2017 Author Posted January 31, 2017 Updated the OP with a twitter link about live streaming Q&A for Feb. 1st. 1
IndiraLightfoot Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 @Sedrefilos: Feel free to add my info and of course others to your OP. That way, it's even easier for people to see the known info (It will be a bit of work for you, though. In my case, just add fig links). Just an idea, if you have the time or the inclination, as it were. *** "The words of someone who feels ever more the ent among saplings when playing CRPGs" ***

Just an idea, if you have the time or the inclination, as it were. I am willing to of course, it's just that the links so far are from the fig forums and when you click them it takes you to the top of the discussion, so one must navigate lienes and lines of posts to find it. Also, about copy-paste posts (which is better imo because one can see directly the information) they take up space and I wanted the OP to have just easy links so one can see the title, click the link and voi-la. If I find a way to do it as to be easy I'll definately place info from posts directly to the OP. It might be a way but I'm not familiar with this advanced technological stuff If you know how to do it and you're willing to show I'd appreciate it! Edited January 31, 2017 by Sedrefilos
IndiraLightfoot Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Perhaps you don't need those links then. Just copy and paste the essence of my posts, for instance, and add this at the end (Source: Feargus, Fig). *** "The words of someone who feels ever more the ent among saplings when playing CRPGs" ***
Sedrefilos Posted January 31, 2017 Author Posted January 31, 2017 Done! I tried to find the info about system requirements that PrimeJunta linked too, but I got lost in the posts :/ 1
IndiraLightfoot Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Wonderful, Sedrfilos! Just add my info from post nr 3 too, since it's pretty important: PoE2 will have 5 party members instead of 6, and they will stick with that decision (Source: Feargus, Fig). *** "The words of someone who feels ever more the ent among saplings when playing CRPGs" ***
Sedrefilos Posted January 31, 2017 Author Posted January 31, 2017 Updated original post about multiclassing with L4wlight's post in the multiclassing thread.
JerekKruger Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Very good idea for a post (says someone who posted a speculation thread). If we could get it stickied that would be very handy.

Rolandur Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) - STREAMING: Feb. 1st live streaming Q&A: https://twitter.com/WorldofEternity/status/826258400774287360 Do we ask our questions during the stream? Anyways, here's some of mine: Will we still have the QoL feature Follow Selected? (I actually refunded, on Steam, Tyranny because this was missing) Will the formula for spotting hidden objects remain the same as PoE1? I can deal with it, if so, but I found it awkward at best. Will the main attributes still work mostly the same as PoE1? I found the attribute system is top notch, rational, and makes a lot of sense [especially for the setting]. Absolutely love it and hate for it to morph into something unrecognizable from the first game. Edited January 31, 2017 by Rolandur

Theobeau Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Apologies if this is not quite right thread to post but a follow-up about importing save games. Any official comment about whether incomplete save games can be in any way imported into PoE2? [About 85% of the way through the main game, got stuck into the DLC then RL/work/study etc.... made 2-3 hr gaming sessions impossible. And given the amount of time away, when I tried to return, found my cRPG muscle memory just not there anymore!] I suspect the answer will be no official comment but don't hold out much hope. Anyway, perhaps the new game will act as a spur to get back into the Dyrwood. [Certainly prodded me to make my first post in over a year!] - Project Eternity, Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera; quality cRPGs are back !
