Is the same problem I always have with HBS games, I love them but they're all kinda shallow and it shows more the longer you play.

Maybe it's just me.

PS new game is on hold for Yoga Fire

I was going to correct that but it's too good

Goggle says it's a band and a character from streetfighter.

Hmm I really wouldn't mind if pilots who lose all their health roll a dice and then eject or not. If they eject, they live... and if not, they likely die.

I mean, srsly, does any player actually eject manually? I never did it in my 80 hours... I'd rather reload.

This way you know the pilot is alive and the mech didn't suffer a center torso meltdown. I'm more inclined to keep playing in that situation than if I think the pilot might or might not be dead for real (and the mech being in total scraps).

I did, twice. Though I had to reload the second because of the Ace Pilot bug. While the mission becomes harder with just 3 mechs, your prized pilot isn't dead and ****pit repairs aren't costly.

It's from Streetfighter 2

I was trying to type Deadfire on my phone but it put Yoga Fire instead because of course I have that saved in my dictionary

Yeah, it'd be great if pilots ejected after being made combat ineffective. Haven't played in a bit as finding the missions a chore, partly due to my lack of heavies.

Progression in this game can be really bizzarre. I went from a lance made of purely medium mechs to having two assault and two heavy mechs in the span of two missions.

I'm at a point in the campaign where regular missions can't spawn assault mechs yet. I've been (ab)using that circumstance to train pilots, make some nice dough and fully deck out the Argo.

edit:

I guess what I was saying is don't bother trying to farm heavies if you don't have them yet, just continue the campaign. You'll be swimming in major hardware before long.

It's weird to see the AI just run around in circles waiting for me to finish them off after destroying all their weapons

Ostensibly they can't have AI pilots eject because that would net you a pristine mech to salvage and that would trivialise the game etc. This is a problem rooted in the simplistic salvage mechanics (which hopefully they'll improve in expansions much like they did with cyberware in Shadowrun), and also shows a certain lack of awareness of how the game currently plays. You can get 3/3 salvage really easily if you abuse LRMs with ++stability damage and leg called shots, much easier than you could damage a mech to the point where it would make sense to eject, without accidentally coring it.

So we get the absurd situation where that Panther without arms and a broken leg just limps aimlessly for two rounds until he decides that life like this just isn't worth living and attempts suicide by Atlas II in the end.

The jump animations are unskippable because they hide a load screen, I've read, much like the infamous elevator rides (you can skip the docking animation, just not the jump proper and undocking)...

Anyway, beta patch been released a few days ago:

Release 1.0.3 Notes, 5/10/2018

  • [WINDOWS] [sTEAM] [GOG] Added an optional BATTLETECH Launcher that can be used to configure the following options before launching the game: Borderless Windowed Mode, Exclusive Fullscreen Mode, Video Rendering API. We recommend using these options for troubleshooting if you are experiencing hardware or software compatibility issues. To use this launcher, run the BattleTechLauncher.exe in your installation folder. In GOG Galaxy, you can open the More menu next to the Play button and choose Other -> Configure BATTLETECH.
  • [sTEAM] Added a warning popup that appears if the Steam API fails to initialize on game start.
  • Added text to the video settings screen to indicate that some settings will not be applied until the next game load.
  • Added an option in video settings menu to show unsupported display resolutions (defaults to off).
  • [macOS] Support for non-standard Steam install directories (directory paths with special characters like "=" in them.)
  • Fixed some hitches when destroying units and buildings during combat.
  • Memory management improvements around 'Mech destruction.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause MechWarriors to become permanently stuck in the High Spirits or Low Spirits state.
  • Fixed an issue where saving the game immediately after salvaging enough parts to complete a new 'Mech could cause that new 'Mech to disappear upon reloading that save game.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause allied units in Escort missions to fail to move into the extraction zone under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where choosing to store a 'Mech with an active work order, then cancelling the warning popup, would cause the screen to become unresponsive.
  • Fixed a few issues with starting location spawn points on procedural missions.
  • Fixed hair shader to better support brighter colors in character creation, tweaked some hair and beard textures, and added some brighter color swatches.
  • Added new portrait presets and customization options.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented completion of the "Rock 'Em" and "Sock 'Em" achievements.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent completion of the "Complete Roster" achievement.
  • Fixed an issue that trivialized completion of the "Laser Show", "Bullet Farmer", and "Raining Fire" achievements.
  • Fixed artifacting issues present on a subset of "Mercenary MechWarrior" custom Backer Emblem rewards.
  • Made the Backer Atlas "SBA" prefab available for the Atlas II-HT (in addition to being available for the standard Atlas AS7-D.) Made the Shadow Hawk "Umbra" prefab available for the Shadow Hawk 2H. Made "Valhalla" prefabs available for their respective chassis variants.
  • [sKIRMISH] Alternate prefab 'Mechs are now considered stock, and display in the Stock 'Mechs list in Skirmish Lance Config.
  • [sKIRMISH] Copying an alternate prefab 'Mech now correctly preserves the 'Mechs variant appearance.

At least they are trying.

I am blind or idiot, there are not standalone patches or what?

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

Nope, no standalone patches, though the main game installer now shows "1.0.2-277R", which is the latest non-beta release. Just install Galazy*, point it at the game, wait until it's done updating, and uninstall it.

I'm guessing they won't bother throwing a standalone installer together until they have assurances from HBS that it's going to take them a while to release another patch. Anyone knows if they are moving away from patch files altogether? That's another possibility.

*feels pretty appropriate too, what with the crappy download speeds and all

In a world before GaLazy I had to redownload the Wasteland 2 installers three times because there were no standalone patches for the current version, so that's not really new for GOG. It's weird since it got a lot better after WL2. I guess it got worse because of GaLazy.

And more on this—I found a mod that makes AI pilots (and your own, too, based on Guts) eject when the going gets tough.

I don't have the game installed myself, but figured someone here might want to give it a whirl.

Between Yoga Fire and Galazy, I'm going to go ahead and just say we let Shady rename everything from now on.

That's a Newspeak I can get behind.

Yeah I noticed that with Dreamfall Chapters.  Bastards trying to force you to use Galaxy.

Finishing the campaign it will unlock the Inner Sphere systems for you to visit.

Yeah. It's not a very exciting reward for finishing the game.

Doesn't really change anything anyway. Just the usual generic jobs on planets with different names.

Are there any news about upcoming DLC or something? Haven't heard anything about the game in a while now.

Paradox, huh? Welp, I guess we’ll start to see a whole bunch of DLC coming soon.
