I, too, am curious how you are doing this.

At present I experience two kind of missions: The ones where I don't have to reload and the ones where I get wrecked so hard, it isn't even funny. The later one are the missions with instant reinforcements. They would be a lot less hard if the reinforcements would appear a bit later and not right away, making me having to stand vs. 8 well equipped mechs.

I just don't like this. It made me create a savegame at every mission start now, then I just run ahead and see what's going on. Then I likely reload and divert to the place where the "reinforcements" are standing around. I'll try to knock them out as quickly as possible, as they usually only consist of light mechs. At this point, however, this lance can't be called "reinforcements" anymore, as someone else already said somewhere. They are just another part of the main lance. It's not exactly fun and pretty much the only thing I really don't like about this game. Well, and escort and convoy missions. The LRM swarm increases the difficulty level *so much* it can't be right. I can beat them with time and savescumming, but it's just not the kind of experience I am carving for...

The game autosaves every time you accept a mission. Quitting usually isn't an option for me because I am always on the verge of bankruptcy whenever I start a mission.

Being miserly has worked out well for me, I can cover all of my monthly expenses with just one mission if I forgo loot. But now I got a new ship so lets see how this works out.

BTW does anyone know if there are consequences for low morale?

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Outside of your starting morale during missions? Not as far as I've seen.
Also holy that ammo depot mission really is no joke. Though you can sacrifice two ammo caches and still earn max rewards so I'll have to do it that way.

I had to let the two ammo trucks drive away, and I had to sacrifice two ammo storages. I guess the best approach to this mission is to quickly rush the LRM turrets, then send a fast mech west to catch the trucks. After that, RNG be with you.

Haven't found any turret generators in this mission. Everyone on the internet says "just destroy the generators", but there just aren't any most of the time.

Great, now I haven't noticed a decrease in ammo but I have this paranoid feeling that ammo doesn't replenish.

What I'm talking about is an objective in a priority mission. You can cause explosions by shooting the crates but you get less money the less you have intact in the end.

Really? It sounds to me like you could use one of their safe spaces if a single pronoun choice gives you that much of a nervous breakdown.

Finally captured me a catapult. \o/ Took me hours with lots of save & load. Actually I only needed 2 parts, but naturally - as it is in such cases - I knocked out the pilot by accident and got the whole mech. To make up for it, though, the repair bill of my lance was > 1.5 million credits.... Sure I could have withdrawn and sooner or later I'd get enough parts, but I wanted it NOW and not later. :cat:

I'd love a Catapult C1, but I keep seeing K2s :(

Yeah, the K2s seem to appear first. I guess if you do one more story mission, the C1s should start showing up.

Got a Highlander and a BattleMaster for my rooster now. I'm pretty much wrecking everything at this point. Still keeping my laser boat Hunchback, though, that thing is faster and precise. Pew, pew, pew, pew... body part is gone. :>

Now how the hell do I get myself some Atlas...

well, they (am not certain o' the poster's gender, so will keep neutral) are actual doing something meaningful to challenge a developer and/or publisher.  online petitions is utter pointless as a form o' protest, and letter writing campaigns is only slight superior.  actual boycotts is far more effective as a means for changing the behaviors o' an individual developer/publisher and o' an industry.

the recent nfl draft reveals Gromnir's hypocrisy regarding cte.  sure, we only watched a handful o' pro games last year, but we did watch college football almost religiously.  in spite o' our complaints 'bout the dangers o' brain injury in the nfl, we continue to watch.  if we final worked up the resolve to cut football out o' our life, then am thinking it would show strength o' character rather than softness.

that being said, we will observe how those who castigate the sjw crowd as easily triggered or snowflakes do appear a bit hypocritical when they lose their water at the use o' a gender neutral pronoun in a mech game or the existence o' a minor transsexual npc in crpg.

on topic: am actual gonna wait 'til first patch to play battletech.  with deadfire just around the corner, and a less than accommodating schedule, am knowing we would only get a dozen or so hours into battletech 'fore we need decide whether to finish or to put it on hold for deadfire.  wait 'til first major patch for battletech should solve our quandary while resulting in a more enjoyable first run o' the mech game.

HA! Good Fun!

Finally did the Smithen mission, holy crap. Dusted off my Centurion and Trebuchet and gave them the largest LRMs I could. One pilot had to eject early because her ****pit armor folded like paper and the LRM enemies kept focusing her. Down to 3 people while we had 6 enemies left to deal with and half my Blackjack was in orange as well. Kiting and mineral field abuse saved the day. Last enemy on the last turn managed to core my sniper but luckily I did a save just the turn before that.

Finally did that, and with no losses. Got lucky and they walked their mechs near crates, got the 3 crate bonus. After that was the definition of overkill as I dumped 3 LRM15 salvos into a Locust.

so, is the game as demanding hardware wise as they say it is? heard that the loading times for some people were up to 5 minutes. also heard that at least in one instance textures weren't loading properly during a mission.

I have managed to complete that mission with 100% success, rushed 2 mechs west , smashing that one light mech in first round, then go behinde that laser tower and convoy will stop right in you fire line. Other two mechs hidden behinde cover forced AI to rush with 3 mechs to one create, from that point it was clean up mission, but oh boi did I struggled with that one for quite some time

I've put it on my SSD right away and the loading times are very ok. It's really the memory leak that causes all the problems. I'm curious if this will be fixed, as my experience with newer games is pretty much "pretend it doesn't exist" when it comes to optimization.

PS: It seems like I am out of the LRM spam phase. This, including the reinforcements bug, caused most of my problems early on. Now that the mechs are bigger, slower and stronger, the focus has switched to sniping body parts. Pure "center core brute force" isn't very effective anymore.

how you guys feel about weapon balance? To me it seems very off. Best weapon is M Laser - 1 ton for 25 damage? Hell yeah! L laser, 40 damage for 5 tons, wtf?

Yeah, not much a fan of the large laser either. If I need range, I take the PPC or some auto cannon. My laser hunchback is equipped with 8 medium laser and it can trash just about anything, is reasonably fast and even though I rush him towards every enemy encounter, the mech barely takes any damage at all (too high evasion I guess).

The ai should focus on my hunchback as primary target, but they just don't. Grave mistake.

memory leaks are a huge deal, so I'm sure they're already working on a solution. as for loading times, at least one post I saw mentioned that the game would freeze up on each loading screen, which would take up to 15 minutes to get from splash screen into a mission. I guess it's something to do with how Unity accesses data on disk, with a slower HDD I guess I could see disk I/O take up a lot of time. that's not going to be changed with patches, though, I reckon - too fundamental of a change. guess I'll hold off on buying BT until I they fix the memory leak at least (I don't have free space on my SSD anyway)

btw do someone know how or if movement is affected at all? Is piloting skill improbing movement of mechs? Or is there any other way? Since we can't swap engines...

It makes you sprint further and can increase your evasion. I find it a very useful skill on my mobile mechs. With 5 or 6 evasion, the enemy has a hard time getting you.

Heh, my LRM boat is stationed so far away, the ai rarely attacks it at all. IMO they should send out some sprinter to try and get you.

Yep, AI sure has target fixation. Usually on my poor Blackjack.   Rather liking my Cent as an LRM boat, only have 3 LRM 10s on it, but it does hit pretty hard (or at the very least, looks cool).
