Volourn
Leo\s probably been in far les films than the others - especially the older actors who've been around much longer. Bean is mostly a 2nd or 3rd tier actor (he's not bad, I like him, but he's not someone who plays a lot of leads so he's played a lot of low level one shot scum). Amentep
Define "weird time" for boob flashing? Besides, IIRC Trash was doing a strip tease anyhow - or am I forgetting something. While drinking in a graveyard. She was a punk and her group was going to party in the graveyard. Didn't seem odd in context (or it didn't in the 80s, at least). I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man
Walsingham
Catching up on Viperkeeper on Youtube. He's absolutely legendary, and worth watching. Live snakes. Live nerd. In mortal weirdness. Rosbjerg
3 movies today. I got ditched by a friend due to a glitch with some transport, so I'm just spending the day inside (too cold out) Kick Ass 2 - meh.. not good not bad, they took too many of the boring tropes too far and ended up too cliché. Elysium - I liked it.. dumb enough to be fun, intelligent enough not to be boring. Seeing Gravity - half way in and definitely digging it so far. Fortune favors the bald. Blarghagh
Oscar noms are in, and the only one I really care about this time around is special effects - I find it hard to choose, on a whole, Gravity had great special effects all the way through and they really deserve recognition, while The Hobbit was generally pretty unconvincing... but the Hobbit had Smaug, who was utterly amazing and is my favourite special effect ever at this point and the work on him alone is worth all the awards ever. Volourn
The only thing that matter to me were the Wolf and Dicaprio nominations. Too bad neither will win because of old farts and ignorance. sorophx
Matthew McConaughey is the one who deserves a Best Actor Oscar this year the most as for best movie... they all suck, but I'd say 12 Years a Slave is the one that engaged me the most. oh, and Amy Adams for Best Actress, mosdef Edited January 16, 2014 by sorophx Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. LadyCrimson
Sometimes the Oscar show is fun to watch, but the Oscar's themselves are just the artists patting each other on the back or giving Oscars as a sort of lifetime achievement nod. Which is fine, but I don't put any stock in it. Has anyone tried watching Cold Comes the Night? I saw it on VoD last night and noticed Bryan Cranston was in it (Alice Eve too, for those that care). Which made it tempting, but when I viewed the preview, the Russian (?) accent he was using had me laughing so hard my shaking hands couldn't press the "buy" button. I might still give it a go later... “Things are as they are. Volourn
"Matthew McConaughey is the one who deserves a Best Actor Oscar this year the most" No, he's a wannabe compared to DiCaprio. It should be a two way tie between Leo Dicaprio and Leo Dicaprio. Amy Adams was good in Hustle but she wasn't even the best female performer in her own movie. EPIC FAIL. Maedhros
A bit strange that Rush didn't get a single nomination. One of the best films this year. Then again, Formula 1 isn't very big over there I guess, could have something to do with it.
sorophx
Amy Adams was good in Hustle but she wasn't even the best female performer in her own movie. EPIC FAIL. oh, come on... Jennifer Lawrence doesn't even look the part, she was so out of place in it she's a good actress, but there's no comparing them really, different leagues. Hiro Protagonist
Matthew McConaughey is a shoe in for the Oscar. Dicaprio will lose again. Edited January 17, 2014 by Hiro Protagonist
Blarghagh
Matthew McConaughey is a shoe in for the Oscar. Dicaprio will lose again. If I were a betting man, I'd bet on DiCaprio. Looks like he's riding the wave of good-will straight to the little golden statue. It'll be like Meryl Streep or Martin Scorcese's oscars - not for their best work, but they'll get it as sort of a lifetime achievement thing because they should have gotten a bunch years ago. Labadal
Now You See Me It was a fun movie to watch but there were some really silly scenes. Pain & Gain Really funny movie and The Rock was a positive surprise.

sorophx
actually, if I were to bet on it, my money would be on Cate Blanchett getting the Oscar in the Best Actress category Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. Lawrence is the best actress/actor in that movie. Period. Her scenes got the majority of the reactions/attention from the theatre audience. Quite frankly, Adams got outacted by the clothes she was wearing. L0L "Matthew McConaughey is a shoe in for the Oscar. Dicaprio will lose again." Yeah, probably, but that is just because the Academy has proven to be braindead hence Gravity's multitude of underserved noms. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250. Blarghagh
I don't even consider McConaughey in the running - pre noms all the buzz was "It's going to be Hanks or DiCaprio" and since Hanks wasn't nominated DiCaprio seems like an obvious choice. I watched it in french so I missed half of the dialogue (and I didn't feel like reading subtitles), but the movie still had me sitting still for more than 2 hours. it's an interesting look at love, how it transcends genders, how it can find you when you least expect it, and how it can hurt you. the sex scenes are awful, though. felt like watching soft porn. I understand why they were included, but I just couldn't help myself and skipped them Edited January 17, 2014 by sorophx Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. Meshugger
The Wolf of Wall Street I was howling with laughter in the theatre. Also, DeCaprio's acting was actually oscar-quality for once. Volourn
"HAHAHA wow. Are you serious? Scorcese is adored by hollywood. That won't be why either won't win if they don't." Yeah, he may be but the movie is mixed. There's half who love it while the other half think it's filthy garbage that seeks bestow sainthood on its bad guy main character. Which is so ridiculous - especially considering the previous movies that have even worst main characters than Belfort. I mean, a movie was praised when its main character liked to eat human flesh. LMAO And, no, Dicaprio was definitely a dark horse nominee here. In most prediction he wans't in the top 5 but the movie did gain momentum hardcore. And, chances are the film itself got nominated because up to 10 pics can be. And, you only need 5% of #1 votes to get it. It's not ahrd to imagine Wolf having 5% of supporters, but I don't see it or Dicaprio winning even if they should. P.S. Meshugger, his acting is ALWAYS Oscars worthy. He should be AT LEAST a 12 time winner! DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
BLnoT
I watched enders game, I liked it better than I expected I would. I thought the main actor was pretty good, especially for his age. I heard about that only recently. I was actually at a book store and saw enders game with a new cover ( clearly a film cover ) Its not out Down our way yet, but from the trailer i am VERY dubious of it. I am a huge fan of the book, and i very much doubt the film could live up wo what i imagined Enders game to be. For those that have not read Enders game i highly suggest it. Its a great piece of written work. Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a day... Set a man on fire and he will be warm the rest of his life...
