Practically everything is going down the crapper, yet I can be almost totally Zen about it. Had the first talk with my boss in almost a month now. She still thinks I'm the scum of the earth, yet seems totally surprised I no longer want to keep working here. Nep, do you want me to talk to her. I'll explain to her that you are a nice and decent guy? It's pretty obvious to most people here, hell our personnel director's already promised to vouch for me, if necessary. I think it's safe to say that they made a wrong recruitment in me... I'm specialised in part of what I'm supposed to do here, but a big part of the rest is entirely new to me. During the summer she decided that I should "help" other people by doing random memos for their projects etc. Which in turn meant that I had to spend even more time learning new stuff for minimal gain. Couple that with the massive stress I had over the dissertation and all, I wasn't at my best, either. But they're trying to lay everything down as some type of personal failing on my part, and I'm not gonna stand for it. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Raithe Posted January 7, 2013 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Not being the best Monday start... a few lurking things hanging on the edge of my mind that have me gnawing away in annoyance / griefy distraction. As twelth night was yesterday, got all the decorations down and packed up, so today it's just tidying up the effects from the tree.. A few work things I should probably poke at, found out that "because it was christmas!" my mother hadn't actually been checking her sugar levels so she wouldn't feel guilty/worried over christmas food... and she has a fasting blood test scheduled this wednesday. Haven't heard anything from someone I expected to over christmas and the new year, so that's bubbling along on annoyance/worry in the background.. The big dog keeps barking all protectively if anyone walks in front of the house today, so that's been fun. Although I did get notice that my copy of the final WoT book is in the post, so possibly might arrive manana. I think that calls for mass escapism from life in general, so I think I'll see if I can organise things so I can pretty much spend most of tomorrow holed up away from people in general and read... Seems everyone else took the last 2 weeks off too, roads were crowded on the way in. Why has elegance found so little following? Currently in my life I'm being terminated academically (for a semester max, and I'm appealing) so at least for this week I'm out of insurance. If it sticks I'm out of insurance for 5 months (and will probably end up on the piddly mcd's plan created due to the mandate). So that's... fun. Meanwhile my grandparents, were hit by sandy, lost power four times, lived with an aunt and uncle for about 3 weeks overall. Then when they got back to their house they had a week or two to get ready for Christmas. BUT my grandmother has hit hardcore Alzheimers, and forgot (TWICE) that she sent our family gifts already so I ended up getting two checks PLUS gifts from her/on her behalf. Something you'd laugh off normally, but then she got the flu or something similar, and has been in the hospital since Christmas. My mom and her sisters decided that their parents couldn't live alone any more and are working to put them into assisted living. They keep telling my grandmother what they're doing and she promptly forgets 6 hours later. Currently she's in quarantine, and my mom has to head back to California to prep for classes. Dad (retired) is staying there to help with the transition. Both have been very adamant over the past 6-12 months that I shouldn't expect to have them around beyond 5 more years. Should have another look at the paperwork for renewing my passport. Got some emails from the groom about the suits he wants to get us all wearing for his wedding. As best man I kind of have to match, so.. he's talking about getting some "western style/ semi-cowboy" formal suits made to order in Mexico city from some place near his fiancee's family, then going in to get any final adjustments made a few days before the wedding. I've been skipping the "learn spanish cd's" the past couple of weeks over christmas, so I guess I should get back to them. That and I need to write my best man's speech out sooner rather then later, so I can get that translated into spanish and learn that.. Dang, time flies past. Hm, waiting on Parcel Force to arrive with my copy of the final WoT book. They left the depot around 0430..and they still haven't turned up here at noon. Condolences. It's never easy. Half of my family is in the hospital ATM. Grandpa has cancer. Grandma fell and broke her arm and pelvis. Dad is scheduled for an operation (intestines).
