I'm not talking about effete or otherworldly. I'm talking about white hair and prominently covered in tattoos. The visual design, not his character concept. Though the old Zevran certainly seems more tribal than Fenris.

That's interesting, actually, because to me the two are inextricably linked.

Wynne's concept is pretty cool

It feels like something I might have seen for a mage in Arcanum. Love the hair.

Really enjoying Risen, some of these quests in Chapter 2 are very good. I'm getting somewhat decent at fighting as a level 14 character, but I can still get owned by quite a few of the creatures out there. Those gorilla things are rough.

Anyone play Red Alert 3 - Uprising?

Gothic II is super fun even if it is still sort of laggy. Mkreku/etc, which faction should I join if I want to be ninja archer thief man?

None ?

There is somewhat a hidden thief guild with some quests. Maybe the mercenaries would fit better with the 'outlaw' concept, but only mages tend to specialise in distance fighting even if it's possible with the other kind of characters.

I'm currently replaying M&M 6.

Will try and pin down that thieves guild then, I like Gothic's faction system except for the fact that they don't always clearly advertise what kind of gskills and abilities you are going to gain access to and not gain access to as a result of your choice.

In Gothic 2, mercenaries are weapon oriented, paladins are hybrid weapon/magic (more weapon than magic, though) and mages are magic oriented.

Started up Bulletstorm today and been playing campaign a bit. It's really fun but I was really hoping for something a bit more akin to Painkiller where the levels themselves were basically just decimating onslaughts of enemies in cool levels. Bulletstorm does have that to degree of course but I think there are too many interruptions in the "flow" of the game in the campaign mode. Too many pointless areas that you just run through, the upgrade system is lame (and again, really interrupts the gameplay flow). The story isn't really good but it's fun in that B-action movie type of way, and the writing is just all-out silly which actually works *much* better than I expected beforehand. It's fun and silly stuff.

Plenty of scripted "omg waht is happening?1?!?!1" moments, like in CoD, just with a huge adrenaline shot put into them.

So yeah, when it's fun, it's *really* fun.

Homeworld 2 is kicking my ass. And I'm on mission 3.

I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Hm, I finished off the Borderlands single-player campaign the other weekend.. but apart from the DA2 demo I just haven't been able to get in the mood to play anything.

Which is kind of annoying since I've got a Fear 2 game to finish off at some point..that's been hanging for about a month. And I picked up a cheap copy of Dead Space some time ago I still haven't started.

Is anyone playing Magicka?

I've been waiting for Magika to be patched to a point where it doesn't crash or disconnect me from a server every half-hour. It's fun but still isn't stable in my case.

Got it, hated it.

Well, Eurogamer made it sound really good (except for the bugs, but they seem to be working really hard on ironing them out):

I was thinking that maybe it would be possible to play with fellow Obsidianites, but the odds of Kaftan having actually paid for a game are slim to none.

I have it, but haven't made time for it in a little while.

On release that game had more bugs than an ant colony. There's been a marked improvement but I think it needs work still.

I didnt pay for it, actually. A friend wanted to play it so badly he splashed out and got everyone a gift package. Which was nice, but we only played about 2 hours total before giving up. But then I dont like dungeon crawling hack n slash games like Diablo or Dungeon Siege. If you like that kind of thing, and the whole fighting game "press up, up, down, shift+1, spacebar to throw a spell" gameplay system, then it might be a game for you.

One thing I had issues with was that it has friendly fire as a big part of the gameplay, but it doesnt tell you if a friend hit you or if you hit a friend. So when there are four players all spamming spells left and right, you WILL get killed and not know if it was friend or foe. We like to mess with eachother but its impossible with this game, because you wont know if it was your mate or just another enemy that got you

Uncharted 2.

Mostly a fun romp, some highly annoying "puzzles" that consist of finding the right set of similarly coloured bricks to jump on, but this game is really pretty and Claudia Black voicing an evil minx just feels sooo right to me. I'm what I assume is the final boss fight, and it's really REALLY annoying, so I decided to go to work for a couple of hours and take another stab at it later.

And, yeah, I'm playing it on the easiest difficulty setting, after it took me year to beat the demo on normal. This game is Nintendo hard (relatively intelligent, hard-hitting durable enemies that advance methodically and use grenades to flush you out of cover). I don't think I've ever died this much in a game on an easy setting, never mind a "casual" one :sorcerer:

Still, happy I picked this one up, it's a refreshing change from what I usually play. And did I mention it's really pretty?

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

Back to Mass Effect 1. Turned off the film grain and motion blur and the game now looks decent.

I'm leaving the citadel at about 3 hours in. And this game loves screwing with my desktop resolution on exit. *middle finger*

Risen - apparently I needed to be more careful with all these plants lying around the island. I wasn't very diligent about collecting them, and I ate a few along the way, and now I realize that to boost my strength and dexterity to adequate levels I needed to brew a good amount of potions. Ah well, it is pretty easy to backtrack with all the animals on the island still dead. I just got my strength up high enough to use my obsidian sword, and I'm close to using a custom sword called the stormbringer.

This game really is great.
