Give no quarter! Charge!
omgFIREBALLS replied to omgFIREBALLS's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
I stripped my ship of upgrades and reassigned crew duties so that everyone was perfectly incompetent at their job and the charge prediction was the same. Still not on a save that started in 1.2 though. Edit: Also the same when I stripped the ship and reduced the crew to surgeon, cook and three slackers in the resting crew. Without minimum crew you automatically lose battles because you can't maneuver the ship. Apparently two healthcare professionals could manage it just fine though. -
Absolutely not

Ideally this option should be comparable to spamming full speed until you can board. I'm going to assume that is Obsidian's ambition so I'll hold back on the nerdrage for now. ;p I loaded an old save and took a voyager with a badass crew to challenge Fyrgist. Here's the prediction for using the charge option (which turned out to be correct, too): 19-38 Hull 6-19 Sails 1-3 Crew But the average of 10 "manual" (full speed spam) charges is: 9.9 Hull 3.8 Sails 0.6 Crew As you can see, the averages are below the predicted minimums. It might be the change didn't apply to my old save so I'll test again on a pure beta playthrough. But I'd still like to see the science of others. I should also point out that charging with voyagers is generally painless because you close the distance so fast that most ships only get to fire once, and they have big time problems hitting you. Misses are more common than hits. And you know, just my own attitude here, but as long as there's guaranteed crew damage I'm not pressing the charge button. Ship damage is much easier to recover from, unless you just wanna sail to port in which case they're all easy.

So, what does that make a Rogue/Cipher multiclass, when the rogue is strong early, but less so later on, while the cipher is the opposite? I'm playing five multiclassed assassins, one of them is a cipher (base class). It's pretty hilarious because the assassinate +25 accuracy bonus means I can sneak up on a pack, charm/dominate one target with ease and then use Smoke Veil and retreat. The victim will attack its allies but they won't attack it back because they sure ain't falling for this cheap trick of making them attack their comrade. They don't see anything else to hit though, so they're like, "I guess I'll die".

Why are you targeting figurines specifically? You could apply your logic to any nerf at all.

Patch 1.2.0 Updates Thread
omgFIREBALLS replied to David Benefield's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Alright, fess up. Which sick **** necessitated this change. If it were anything but Modwyr I would merely think creative use of game mechanics. This is much darker. -
That's an evil thing to be random. Looking at the screenshot I can't directly say what level my party is but judging from their health (around 400 each) it should be pretty damn high, and level scaling was on. It's possible the titan itself drops one and one of its helpers another and you got them both with AoE loot. I think they might be random off scarab beetles. Edit: Actually my party is at least level 19 in this screenshot

I did Poko Kohara today and in the desert outside I looted myself some precious Adra Ban. Probably some from the titan, but not only. The scarabs, perhaps. Not sure, but I can say I would not leave anything there alive at least. ^^ Furthermore, I've been taking some screenshots so I have a bit to add! Magma dragon's hoard: 1x Emerald, 1x Sapphire, 1x Adra Ban Drowned Barrows, upper floor, chest somewhere to the east: 1x Sapphire (some amount at least) Drowned Barrows, upper floor, chest by the beds: 3x Emerald Poko Kohara, Engwithan Titan: 1x Adra Ban (had screenshot) Crookspur dungeons, closet by the door to the caverns: ?x Ruby, blame sloppy screenshotting Rathun (the fire giants) seem to often carry rubies BTW.

We managed to attract some Obsidian attention to a thread about talents that seem to be missing from the game. So yeah, at least this much of a good reward was meant to exist and hopefully will one day. That means +1 con +1 res +10% health instead of the sacrificed companion's buff. Note that we weren't told we'd have to give up on Gift from the Machine for it though.

Deckhand and helmsman, so you don't need a ship large enough for a boatswain slot. The skill check for each is 3 (expert). I also recall reading that even if you fail those, you just get injured crew. Can't slack on the hull/sails though. Whatever else might look good, Blackwood Hull and Dragonwing Sails have plot armor and nothing else you can simply buy does.

I have to say it's making it way too personal to go for a vendetta against Benweth for raiding your ship though. What do you think Furrante would have done if he didn't know about your history, or otherwise had reason to believe you a difficult target? Every damned Principi ship will attack you, Benweth was just optimistic enough to think his goons could handle you alone, and he lost them for it, price paid. It's another thing if you just don't like pirates. Or you like them and want to join them. But going after him just for attacking your ship, one he picked simply because it seemed an easy target, meh. **** all these considerations when you consider his armor and the quest experience available though.
-
Just diplomatically convince them to hand over their heads. But going back to the very first fight against Benweth's goons. If we assume the achievement is active for it, the way to avoid it would be to not score any killing blows yourself. If so, you could handle regular boarding battles the same way. Eh, seem too obvious an exploit. Feels like a lot of these achievements will be far easier for rogues considering they can just use Smoke Veil and the likes to avoid fights they can't talk their way out of.

I had thought the Drawing Cut enchant would work on stealth openers. However, checking the attack resolution details I'm not seeing it for the opener but I am seeing it for the next attack I make. I'm guessing the mechanic at work is that I'm not in combat yet as I deliver that opener. Could the enchant be changed to circumvent this? Lowlife murderers have feelings too and disappointment is not one we they appreciate. Clarification: This is when combat altogether starts with this stealth attack, not when it begins some other way and this is merely my rogue's first action. I'm playing solo, but I took in another party member and had them start combat and then I had Drawing Cut for my rogue's opener.
