Excellent work with that locale, just beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how the characters look in that environment. :D

Steam and GOG
Archmage Silver replied to HumanFlesh+5's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Um... well, technically they don't. Obsidian owns the game, you just purchase a license to use a copy. Valve can control how you use their service though, up to and incuding making your game licenses housed within their system unusable if you break their EULA (End-User License Agreement). -
He's been in tons of stuff over the years, including MASH and Cogsworth in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Always a reliable, great actor. I'd be on board for him as a narrator. Absolutely. It's not all stuff that I've had the opportunity to see, so he's bound to be remembered for different things by different people. He'd definitely bring even more class and talent to the narrative.

They won't do full voice-acting. No. Voice Acting related goals are still possible though. For example hiring a especially good narrator. I've been promoting hiring David Ogden Stiers as the narrator. He was the narrator/voice of Belhifet in Icewind Dale. Some of you may also remember him as the guy who played Oberoth in Stargate: Atlantis.

Orcs - discussion
Archmage Silver replied to ArchBeast's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That's what i'm talking about i played orc only in morrowind and skyrim and i thik they where a little bit tu nice, i whould love to play some kind or orc like Thrall from warcraft, that looks like orc, not atak everywone but when hi must fight he don't cry about it. USED ?! :D Sorry man but i remember only few games that orcs was playable race,(half-ogres only in ancanum) in elderscrolls and warcraft, elfs, dwarwes are almost in every fantasy game. Playing as half ogre or even pure ogre whould by geat. But i think that Orcs in our subculture terribly put aside but they have potential they can by not only a low race like in D&D they can by even use as employed as reflected Mongol hordes, even the most powerfull race (controlling most lands). They can by portrayed as a race that seeks its place, hated race, even though it really just looking for their place in the world. I think that this race should be called the Orcs, but it may well ogres would, besides, there is nothing to prevent the creation of orcs higher (with their own state and diplomatic relations) and lower orcs ( beast who bearly can hold a weapon and acts more like trolls from Skyrim) to create a powerful historical base of this race is huge, and he would like to finally taken care of her, half-ogres clear they can be but it's not just about the name of the race (I suspect that supporters of other green like Humanoids will not complain if, instead of, say, half-get well taken orcs). And i thing that putting orc intu the lure whould by much more realistic, and easy than "godlike-race" pff . I think that putting something like qunari from dragon age orgins but green and a little bit more orkish whould by great. But why i am saying that orc whould by better than half-ogres becouse half-ogres whould allways by sub-race, something not independent. But orc can easly by independet race/nation. Thanks everywone for respond. Yes, half-ogres are less used than orcs, by far. Your response doesn't really make sense to me. -
I'd like to see a combination of static loot placement (Baldur's Gate) and semi-random loot generation (Icewind Dale). The semi-random loot generation would simply generate an item from a premade limited loot list, which would be set by hand to avoid generating overpowered or illogical items for the location in question. A combination of the two would result in the best experience in my opinion. This would be especially true for a second playthrough with players knowing where the really good stuff is (static), but still maintaining an element of surprise in regards to some items (semi-random).

Pets
Archmage Silver replied to Frenetic Pony's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Having pets in the game is fine by me, but I'd like to restrict the larger animal companions to druids, and possibly rangers, because otherwise they just feel too common. -
Steam and GOG
Archmage Silver replied to HumanFlesh+5's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Steam simplifies a lot things and allows you to install your games anywhere without the installation media, which is something GOG.com also offers. Steam also removes some manual tasks, such as updating and having to manually install mods by extracting stuff to folders. You can run Steam in offline mode too, but you can't lend games to your friends per se, as you'd have to share your login info. Steam is decent enough, but personally I prefer to run my games without a separate client. It's just becoming very common for developers/publishers to use Steam, so playing modern games without it isn't so easy anymore. -
Obsidian is still considering their options in regards to the digital distribution of the Linux version of Project Eternity. Someone mentioned Desura to Feargus on Kickstarter, and he said they'd take a look at that as well as other options. There's no tangible info on the actual file format as of yet though.

Character Death
Archmage Silver replied to jivex5k's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I'd be fine with just implementing it the D&D way with Resurrection spells. If you can't cast one and don't have a scroll for your priest to use, then you'd have to visit a temple or a healer and pay good money for it. -
Orcs - discussion
Archmage Silver replied to ArchBeast's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah they were my favourite race in Arcanum, so I'd prefer them too. But if that isn't possible as long as there was an option for some sort of stereotypically brutish race, I'll be happy. Playing a half-ogre mage would be great... there was a quest with an ogre mage in the original Baldur's Gate, which was kind of interesting given how ogres are viewed generally (not very bright). -

I'd rather have half-ogres, they're less used. They were great in Arcanum. -
Jeremy Soule would be expensive to hire, and personally I believe you could get someone else to compose more fitting music anyway. Justin Bell composed some nice tracks already... maybe he could collaborate with Ben Houge or Michael Hoenig?

Chanters' Harmony
Archmage Silver replied to khango's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It would certainly add more power to the Chanter class, although I'd like to set the limit of chant stacking at three. Otherwise a party of six Chanters would end up being overpowered, or at least there's a high probability of that happening. -
How should the UI look?
Archmage Silver replied to Rostere's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'd like something solid like the BG/IWD series. I don't care about the ability to have multiple UI windows open simultaneously, nor do I want a minimap that can't be completely turned off. If you can do that though, then I won't mind one.
