  1. There's apparently a demand for this, considering there's also a "freak companion" thread Personally, I don't really care for a Vithrack. It would just sound like Grieving Mother. All Deeper and Holier-than-thou. Now, a brutish half ogre or xaurip with comical idiot dialogue might be fun. Kills-in-Shadow from Tyranny had me in stitches with her "rut, mate, slaughter" game... but I don't think PoE's serious tone is really suitable for that...
  2. Interesting. What kind of immersion breaking moments were there with granny?
  3. lol, that cracks me up. (I also thought that was his corpse in PoE1). Is that like "Dude, our time together meant a lot to me.... take my smelly boots!" Or does he attend lots of drunken parties that end in shirt swapping?
  4. I think they've mentioned that you can turn off helmets and cloaks, but nothing like you've mentioned. Like people in real life, our characters must make sacrifices to be fashionable
  5. *Bathing in the positive vibes* So excited for multi and subclasses. Number of classes in PoE1: 11 Number of possible combinations in PoE2: Freakin' high. That's going to add LOADS of replayable with unusual combinations. On the companions side, I've got a good feeling about Xoti. The sickle looks wicked. And just in general, I'm sure Obsidian has learned a lot from PoE1 and any points that were lacking before will be improved upon.
  6. You're not the only one, but apparently such criticism is considered a sort of blasphemy here so watch your back. All in all I think their decision to go with this system alienates way more people than it attracts, and was, and still is, one major reason I didn't back the first game and I'm not going to back this one. I'll buy it if it seems good enough, just like I did with the first game. lol, blasphemy? Take a chill pill mate. There are loads of whinners on this forum that criticize every single decision made by Obsidian, and also a portion of board members that defend those decisions. In other words, you're quite entitled to your opinion.
  7. Sorry dude, your posts are so rambling that possibly I didn't read to the end
  8. Just to throw in my 2 cents here. I was very surprised that my Aloth This wasn't a big deal to me (and I'm not totally against unpredictable endings) but... instead of a few random lines of "advice" dialogue (which the player will probably forget), I would prefer more dramatic events to determine the fate of your companions. Like, did you kill someone? Did you do a certain quest? Did you disobey a God? That's life changing stuff, not random party banter.
  9. Yeah, they did possibly mention that. And I agree that brawns and brains shouldn't be mutually exclusive (adventurer wizards should definitely hit the gym occasionally!) But at the end of the day, they still shouldn't be quite as strong as a fighter, because they're dividing their time between exercise and book studies, whereas a fighter or barbarian is just doing exercise. Josh mentioned in one of the Dev-commentary plays on Youtube/Twitch that he wanted to slightly alter these in the future to distinguish "your muscles bulge as you push on the wall" v. "You use magic to knock the wall down". Of course, which one should a druid use? "Shapeshift to boar form" Good to know! But yeah, some classes could go either way.
  10. Wth... thats a very weird rule then. So they basically arent subclasses then but more like 5ed d&d paths Not weird, just logical. Priests and Paladins by definition need something to believe in. Rather, I find the lack of monk orders illogical. Surely their faith is also a cornerstone of their class?
  11. There is reason behind the madness. Obsidian's design philosophy was that they wanted no "dump stats". If you seperate the sources of magical and physical strength, one inevitably becomes a dump stat. However, I do agree with you. On a role-playing level, it was a annoying in Pillars to get all the "brute force" options for your supposedly intellectual wizard. As Leeuwenhart says, we could look at this as "force choke", but I do hope Obsidian is a bit more careful writing these parts in the future.
  12. Basically this. When I'm planning my party, I'm mostly thinkng "What classes can I fit in there?". In PoE1, the max is 6 obviously. But through multiclassing, you can squeeze in a max of 10 classes in PoE2. I would have also preferred 6, but a change to 5 is not the end of the world.
  13. lol, what kind of method would you like exactly? I hope the majority of new portraits won't be backer portraits. I didn't like them in poe1. Which ones were the backer portraits in PoE1? But yeah, I agree with the sentiments in this thread. A stretch goal to double the amount of portraits would have been cool.
  14. Yes, but going to mess about in an image editor is a bother (if you're not into that sort of thing). That's why a simple button that converts the main portrait to a watercolor version would be great. Or would we need another stretch goal for such a button?
  15. I haven't actually tried, but I'm guessing not very viable. Rogues are squishy, and function best either attacking from a distance, or stabbing someone already engaged with a tank. A retaliate rogue would have to go toe-to-toe with the enemy, and on PotD, I'm thinking that would be fatal.
  16. Now that you mention it... that is concerning. Perhaps they'll have a "watercolor vintage filter" to convert custom portraits? Xoti is cuter than expected.
  17. I don't really care about gore as such, I just want it to feel like there is weight behind the attacks (if you know what I mean?). Like a satisfying impact noise/animation when a greatsword connects with a xaurip skull.
  18. I for one am very happy with the sidekicks idea! It's extra variety for your roster, at the expense of what? The touching backstory? Not every character in Eora needs to be as long-winded as Durance. You know, "brevity is the soul of wit" and all that? I was satisfied at 2.8 million, but now I'm kind of hoping we make 3.25 mil. Obsidian, keep up the good work please!!
  19. Personally I would reverse the stats for MIGHT and CON, and INT and RES, so mine would look more like the following: Might: 16 Con: 13 Dex: 10 Per: 12 Int: 17 Res: 10 You get more bang for your buck that way, as MIGHT affects power of attacks and strength of your Lay on Hands, and INT affects the range of your auras and heals. Also, RES doesn't really need points if you are already bumping CON, so I diverted those points into more INT and some extra PER for higher Accuracy and Interruption. I think you'd find this build more punchy, while still being very survivable. I agree with the might part, but 17 intelligene seems a little extreme just to get a little more range.
  20. Boreal Dwarves and Pale Elves' bonuses are so situational that I think they hardly deserve a nerf. If you're only going to excel only a small percent of the time, you might as well excel well, you know what I mean? To be honest, all of the racial bonuses feel kinda "meh" to me (Godlike in particular). I think this was done purposely so that not every caster/fighter would be a certain race (as is so often the case in traditional DnD based games). Remember that one of their design goals was to have no trap builds. Likewise, this is why stats don't make huge differences. The wizard lacks summoning so that the chanter can get a niche. (I don't like it either, but I get it) The grimoire problem has been pointed out before and hopefully they'll do something with it in PoE2.
  21. Nah, I like it how it is. The best motivation to do evil deeds and slaughter younglings is supreme power and a cool dark cloak. Good players get the power of friendship.
  22. That excellent article was a little whiny if you ask me Look, its generally a weak feature, I agree. But as these things go, Pillars has done okay. Because in Pillars, its less "crafting", and more "upgrading". If you have exra cash to burn, and there are no magical weapons you want to buy, at least you can upgrade the stuff you have. And I appreciate the fact that I can make magical flaming swords on a whim.
  23. You sir, think like a gold-pact paladin.
  24. I know you guys love your pets, but do we really need this? I mean, if super pets are a thing, why not just have more summon spells?
  25. I think that depends if someone is industrious enough to make such a thing. Transcripts take a long time to type out
