Currently reading "Starship Troopers", the book (it's somewhat different to the movie version). There's something really funny about reading a sci-fi book written in 1957, set in around 2300. It's kind of past-future overlap where character stereotypes from the 50s (with post-WW2 mentality) wield space-age technology to fight a space-age war.

Guys, all I can see is: read the book "End Specialist" by Drew Magary. Best take on immortality I've ever read.

Playing This is the Police. Its a simple game, and gets repetitive at around the 5 hour mark and yet it's sheer lack of political correctness is a breath of fresh air. Lucky son-of-a-gun.

*hint* Noctis */hint* That's it? Methinks OP has too much time on his hands...

I've played most of the FFs, but I don't really get the joke. Also, I'm 99% sure you're joking, but in case you aren't: Nonek is right. Publishers don't accept plots from randoms, no matter how blessed they are with talent.

Just finished Zero Time Dilemma. Let's just say... that game made me think about my mortality...

Not released in my area yet. Won't mind playing but boy am I getting bored of Pokemon Go news articles on the internet.

How Much Freedom of Expression/Speech in Tyranny?
Heijoushin replied to Chippy's topic in Computer and Console
You donated $1000 to POE and then don't get around to playing it? Quite some time has passed... aren't you keen to see what your $1000 bought? Your post comes across as somewhat out of the blue... why the sudden worry on this front? I'm sure the scriptwriters are doing their best. -
Games you want that'll likely never exist
Heijoushin replied to Barothmuk's topic in Computer and Console
Games I want: 1. A fantasy version of XCOM 2. Say, you're the leader of a small band of mercenaries, and the gameplay is tactical combat. Except the classes would be things like Swordsmen, Archer, Paladin, Fire Mage, Necromancer blah blah. With heavy customization options like XCOM. 2. A completely new RTS by Blizzard. Blizzard does awesome work but I've become a bit disillusioned with both the Warcraft & Starcraft universes. (Orcs & zerg are just lovable misunderstood races blah blah blah) 3. A sequel to Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines. -
I thought you were joking, but I googled it, and oh-my-gosh you are serious...

Don't be such a killjoy! It's good exercise for 40 year olds. Would you believe the irony: I'm in Japan, but we don't have pokemon GO yet (even if you download it off the American app store, there are no spawn points). Pokemon are extinct in their native land.

Waiting for Mighty Number 9 that's supposed to release today. So far, the reviews haven't been stellar. But I've backed the thing, so I'm going to give it a chance of course.

Take a chill pill OP. If you played for 140 hours across 7 playthroughs, you definitely got your money's worth, regardless of how you felt at the end. Maybe it wasn't the WM's fault. Maybe after 140 hours, you'd just had enough? I really like PoE, but honestly, after 4 playthroughs, I got tired of it.

WarCraft movie is getting slaughtered by critics
Heijoushin replied to ktchong's topic in Way Off-Topic
I found that interesting. It completely flops at home, but the Chinese love it? Why is that? Are they all WoW addicts? Do the elements the Americans hate seem quirky and exotic to them? So we might get a War2 movie thank to China -
WarCraft movie is getting slaughtered by critics

Oh god, must everything be about race and politics? Do people still enjoy movies or just over analyze them to see if they match their political views? -

I wouldn't say that... Rottentomatoes is usually vaguely accurate... -

Charming as always OP. This is not unexpected, but does make me sad. I used to love reading through the old War 2 manual... the original story & lore is good stuff. Judging by what the reviewers are saying, they tried to cover too many characters and threw in a cheesy love story to boot. These guys need to stop drooling over the CG and just get back to basic storytelling 101. -
And of course, I only noticed I typed "worth" instead of "worthwhile" four days later. I wouldn't have noticed if you didn't come back to point it out...

Thanks mate, that's very good of you to say (though have there ever been any other SAers on these forums? I also wish I had more close friends to discuss RPGs, fantasy books and other topics with. But I think if I ever moved back to SA, I would experience reverse culture shock You the first that has stayed on the forum and I chatted with this long Yes you would have to understand what is different in SA...but its not too serious...well it might take some adjustment. I love it here and feel part of the transformation but I wont lie I have a good job and my family has money. It makes things easier. But there is lots of poverty Let's continue with conversation via PM. It's not very Sorcery related

CRPGs have made a comeback! How about RTSs?
Heijoushin replied to Heijoushin's topic in Computer and Console
Wow, that looks weirdly like Dungeon Keeper... Not sure about the ant theme though.... -

Yeah, I always wished that evil would be more "selfish-evil", As an evil character, I'd be very willing to kill or betray someone if it meant I could get a cool weapon or cash. There's just no benefit to kicking the dog just for the evulz.

Really? You met him in person? In SA? That's pretty cool. And you have a really good memory (I just played through those parts of the game today) Man, as I kid, I remember thinking that those books were as hardcore as you got (thematically and art-wise) I mean, that was before the internet and all that.
-
Is it like the books...so do you have to fight the Manticore and find the riddles in Khare? Are there Red Eyes in the city... Yup and yup No, you have to eat, sleep or heal.

Playing this now. It's a semi-text based RPG based on Steve Jackson books (which I loved as a kid) It's a decent game and the price on steam is reasonable. But what I REALLY love, is the spellbook. It has been so long since I've seen an RPG where you get a cool spellbook/grimoire that you can actually page through. It's like the old Ultima games. Enjoying my mage roleplaying now. Anyone got this? Thoughts?
