  1. Today is the release date for the full version of Darkest Dungeons! I am most looking forward to playing it soon(^_^)
  2. Yup. Or if auto resolve actually won occasionally.
  3. As Barbedbeat said, you need a barracks. Other hirelings will become available based on what quests you complete. I forget which quests... besides the dozens, I remember that there's an ogre you can pick up near Dyrford village, Now whether these hirelings are actually worth anything... that is the question(U_U)
  4. As the EvilCat has said, we've all given up on the stronghold already, but for argument's sake... No, I feel quite the opposite. I don't even want to see "security" and "prestige" numbers anywhere. That's what makes the stronghold feel like a bad cellphone game. I think the best way to make the stronghold feel more organic would be to add some more memorable NPCs. The stronghold is boring because, apart from bland shopkeepers with no personality... there's no one living there but a talking chair! And each "room" should have a clear purpose, preferably one who can interact with.
  5. Played "Punch Club" all of last night. It's a small, simple, low-budget game, but surprisingly addictive;) You played a young, down-and-out young boxer. There are loads of Rocky, Teenage mutant ninja turtles and other humorous references. Give it an evening or two of your time;) You won't regret it.
  6. It seems that they really didn't want to give the player any options for that area. It's just supposed to be a straight-forward trial of combat for high-level characters. Kind of a wasted opportunity really. Hanging out or working for an elite mercenary force would have been great. Personally, I enjoyed the inside area of the tower more (the apprentices were interesting). The outside is just butchery.
  7. I think you'll need to find someone who has read all the books;) There are already a couple of POE lore vids on youtube. But its still early days. I think the lore will really start to get juicy once POE2 is released!
  8. Uh... interesting question. Never play Godlike so never considered this predicament.
  9. Yeah, people think of her as a professional assassin (which is why they complain about her stats and skill set) but she's more like a crazy, messed up girl with a kitchen knife. That being said, I also thought the quest was a little too "neat", in that all the woodcutters conveniently participated in the sack of the town and then conveniently hang out together. I would also have preferred a stealth option.
  10. 2015: The Year Everyone Was Offended by Everything So true. I hope we can chill out more in 2016. Peace out guys.
  11. Hmmm... I liked Eder's story about the little girl who was given an animals soul. That really nailed the setting if you ask me. All of Aloth's lines, especially his famous coxfixer line, were great. Finally, I just love the Devil of Caroc's voice. Sent chills up my spine whenever she said something.
  12. ... I suppose you could make this work... but why ever would you want to? So you can have a little more constitution and make a tanky rogue? If you want that kind of character, a fighter with apprentice sneak attack would be better surely. Just seems illogical. You can make a tougher rogue without completely sacrificing might. Say by dropping int instead?
  13. Um... as far as I know, they're still not a popular class. You'd think the class would work by having the animal as a tank, and the ranger as a DPS. Only the animals aren't so tough and if they die, many of the rangers most important abilities become useless... So, all in all, why not just play a rogue for uber DPS? Still, I'm sure you could make a decent archer if you played carefully.
  14. Hmmm... I'm torn here. There are way too many fantasy novels that feature oversea journeys which bore me to tears. I wouldn't specifically want to be a pirate. But a harbour town setting would be fine.
  15. Funny thing is, you have to fight tougher opponents to get there.^^ Yeah, it's like the single time that the game pulls its punches;)
  16. They're apparently so drunk they can barely stand. Just blowing on those coxfithers knocks them down. Aw well, they didn't want the player to accidentally get killed while recruiting Aloth.
  17. Well, of course it has an issue with the actual acts! But would they draw manga/porn on the subject? Oh yeah. Now, you could argue that just looking at those images is not very healthy, but since their crime rates are relatively low... well, can we as South Africans really criticize how they run their country? And on the other hand, they have their own problems. Suicides, bullying, hikikomori, chikan etc.
  18. One Japanese person told me that since there aren't any minorities to hate on, they hate on rich people instead;) I'm not sure if that's true or not. Well... my understanding of the "underaged girls" issue is... Basically, in Japan (and in Asian cultures in general I think), they tend to want more "youthful" characteristics in their women. In the west, teenage girls might put on makeup to look more like adults. Conversely, in Japan, women put on makeup in a way that makes them look younger. After WW2, they adapted American laws about the age of consent etc., but I think its still kind of at odds with their cultural psych. So the law is the law, but people look for loop-holes. Like the extreme pornography for one. And unless someone REALLY crosses the line, it's all kind of winked at.
  19. Do you ever use material from these forums when you're debating on radio shows? Well... like I said, they're a very homogeneous society. This means that they don't meet too many people from other countries, and so they tend to believe very blatant stereotypes. Like when I say I'm a South African, 90% of the time, the response is "Oh, you're the first SA guy I've ever met. I thought all South Africans were black." Now, in the west, because we're sensitive to racial topics, that would be kinda rude, yeah? But they're just honestly stating what they think. Likewise, very few people here are openly gay. Most Japanese will say with a straight face: "I've never met a gay person. I don't think there are gay people in Japan" (hint: there are gay people in Japan) And finally, yes, their attitudes towards women are also very conservative. So all-in-all, no one cares about social justice here. Not in a mean way, just... they don't think about it. And there aren't any minorities to remind them. It's also very Japanese to "not rock the boat". Better to just go with the flow. "しょうがない" means "It can't be helped / there's nothing that can be done". Sort of in a "It's out of our control so don't worry about it" sense. They DO tend to write off a lot of things this way;)
  20. I can understand that perspective Its become normal for us White liberals but I'm also probably explaining it in a way that makes it sound arduous because its not all bad if you don't everything seriously But yes if you partake in talk shows like me you have to accept that basically everyday you will be blamed for something that was caused by Apartheid. But then the positive side is when more and more black South Africans become part of the economic transformation or you are able to explain something that helps them in some way You partake in talk shows? You must have an interesting job;) Well, it's just like you said: one foolish person makes a twitter comment, and once again everyone drags up the last 50 years of history. It's kind of like fighting with one's girlfriend. You start arguing about something totally random, and then suddenly all the old baggage is brought up... One thing I like about Japan is that they're such a homogeneous society (98% Japanese) that they barely even understand the concept of "political correctness" as we know it in the west. Of course, that frustrates some people. But for me, having been raised in South Africa, it's like breathe of fresh air.
  21. The trailer is pretty, but some new info would be nice. Besides a barbarian companion and story mode, are we getting any new toys?
  22. I think priests are worth it, but you really need to know what you're doing. Not suggesting that you don't of course. I just mean wizards and some of the other classes are a lot more intuitive. Priests you need to know what counter spells to use where. Rogues you need to keep out of the combat. Think like a coward. Shoot and run, or stab someone who is distracted. Spell casters certainly get more valuable the farther you go, but I enjoyed the beginning of the game just as much.
  23. Got to be honest Bruce... Reading that makes me glad I got out of SA. So nice to be in a country where people aren't always obsessing about racism.
  24. Spent my whole December holiday playing Invisible Inc. It's basically a cyberpunk rogue-like with secret agents. Very addictive and challenging. I recommend it if you like those elements.
  25. Fair enough if you can't get into it. It's not going to be for everyone. I totally agree that Durance speaks a lot of waffle, and totally agree that the early ghost encounters that you mentioned are difficult. Anyway, why not save it for a holiday when you have more time to play and get into it?
