  1. +Beautiful +Feels much more polished and streamlined than PoE1 + VO is gorgeous + Environment and setting is wonderfully realised + Xoti, oh lovely Xoti <3 + The BG2 style city map + BOATS! :D + The breaks to the Choose Your Own Adventure screens and how all the mini encounters play out. + The reputation system, and seeing how your party not only react to you but to each other. = Classic is too easy at the point I'm at. Might need rebalancing = Undecided on multiclassing, but suspect I'm missing the disgusting broken builds. - Give me more VO - I know I've been a relatively big defender of 5v6 party members but based on the characters I'm finding I want that extra space for the roleplaying! - Modal abilities could be a bit more involved in combat - From a D&D background, I dislike having to choose druid/priest spells instead of getting them all like in IE games and PoE1. Probably will just grow into it. - The passive skill system is still by and large total bull****. I really resent having to choose between an active skill and an essential passive skill for my class even though I ended up choosing passives at random once I'd finished my build in the first game. - Eder might steal Xoti from me. Stuck at work and want to go play
  2. ^ That's right. You can either click empower and then select an ability to give it more oomph! Alternatively, you can click a character to give them resource or if you've run out of spells, click the spell level to restore uses per encounter.
  3. Sometimes the companions appear as NPCs before they join your party - like Pallegina, Eder, Sagani etc in the first game. I'm sure there'll be plenty of time to add him to the pack
  4. The game played the credits after I finished playing, so it counts right? RIGHT!?
  5. OH MY GOD HOW IS IT THE 8TH ALREADY, I HAD SO MUCH LIFE TO LIVE BEFORE THIS. See you in Eora, folks!
  6. I've gone Helwaker Monk and Bleakwalker Paladin, then stack the Flames of Devotion single target while taking the +12 Defenses passive. Oof.
  7. That's odd indeed, especially as you miss the disengagement attack. I suppose you could mitigate it with Hold The Line, but in theory if your engagement is 0 then you shouldn't be able to attack.
  8. Didn't Sir Schmoopy of Awesometon dual wield cart wheels as shields? OBS, make it happen.
  9. I do all the quests I can find, and hit 16 on all characters. Before I started WM, but I did do the bounties but no dragons/archmages.
  10. As someone else has said, party members at the Stronghold do get XP. My party in PoE1 was me (Fire Godlike Monk), Eder, Kana, Durance, Hiravias and Aloth. Great! Deadfire has been balanced towards 5 party members. You get a massive variation of character classes with the multiclassing system which is partly why it's done this way. I was pretty against it at first too, but if you've not had a chance to play the beta, just wait til you try the game. After an hour you don't notice a person missing.
  11. ^ To add to this the first time I played Pillars 1 on normal I couldn't beat the adra dragon, and now pretty much everything cries before me.
  12. I know I'm having a lot of fun, which is sorta the point right!? :D
  13. I believe that you can't choose the sub class, but you can multiclass them into a select few classes depending on the character.
  14. Time to resurrect this thread with some class videos.
  15. Hey dudes, I'm catching up on making some YT content for this game, was just wondering if we had the cheat codes and IE mod type stuff we had for the first game? Not for spoilers, just wanted to do some full class testing. Cheeeeers!
  16. Currently working on a Godlike Helwalker/Bleakwalker. All the good fire stuff, plus using Flames of Devotion as an additional melee attack. Needs more work but feels quite powerful atm.
  17. Hey everyone, been a while since I've posted. I've just loaded up the latest backer beta after not being all that impressed with the first one. And WOW. Everything is better. Everything looks better, the ship combat, the handrawn Tikwara map...gorgeous. The revamped UI and the enemy healthbars and markers look great too. I don't know what's changed...it feels a lot more like the first game now. Obviously still missing the sixth slot and the usual stuff, but I didn't feel annoyed by penetration (if it's even still in) and the empower ability is great. Been running a Bleakwalker Monk. Sicked Flames of Devotion as an additional melee attack is OP as heck. The one big issue I still have with the levelling is that the passive abilities are per-class and I feel like they shouldn't be (probably covered elsewhere in the forum) as I'm finding the power level progression quite limiting on customising your characters abilities and having to dump a point in a Will/Fortitude increase, for example. The animations have got a lot better and the fight sequences connect a lot more smoothly than they did before. All in all, I'm now excited for the full release again. Woo!
  18. Doing some streaming now! Live now in @Obsidian PoE2: Deadfire! https://www.twitch.tv/rpg_al3x
